    Got this outfit several months ago. Love this set up. Fishes great! Lots of amazing reviews. I haven’t had any negative thoughts on this set up, just need to clean my line 😂

    I appreciate how in-depth you describe the rod and reel. I wish the trout kit came in blue. Since it's been a couple years since they came out, can you tell me if the quality of the line and reel are still as good? I know sometimes manufacturers start to cut corners after a certain amount of time.

    Do you think the Salmon version is good for a beginner wanting to catch Atlantic Salmon in Ireland.I want to enjoy my fishing.

    I randomly clicked on this video when looking up the rod I recently purchased. Guess what? I bought it, this kit, from your shop! Question, do you do any casting lessons?

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop

      Absolutely, our shop offers casting lessons that can fit almost anyone's schedule! The best way to get it on the books is to give us a call.

      @@TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop I'll have to. By the way, the gentleman who sold me this kit was fantastic. Im a beginner and he was very patient with me. He had great answers to all my dumb questions. By the time I walked out of the store, I felt very confident in putting my new gear to the test. Definitely give him props for me, will you?

    Any input on the Salmon Field Kit? Was looking for a good package for fishing Pyramid Lake NV. Comes with great line and that great Run reel. Haven't really seen anything on the rod though..

      Hey Jon, I think the Salmon Kit would be great for that application. The 8wt rod matched with the RIO Grande should provide easy distance even in windy conditions. It's not the lightest rod on the market but Redington did a great job matching the rod and line together here. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

    Is the Orvis Clearwater kit similar in value and quality? I’m one notch above beginner and was looking for a 4wt for smaller streams, looking to spend around this range $350-$400. Like that the Redington comes with the Rio line, Clearwater line similar quality? Any pros and cons when comparing, thanks

    • @WasatchWoodsman
      @WasatchWoodsman 2 года назад +1

      This is a better value. And the Rio gold line is significantly better than the Clearwater

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop

      Braided Dacron Backing, the trout model is most likely 20lb test

    Do you think the Salmon field kit is actually enough rod for 20-30 salmon?

    • @cgreeneblue
      @cgreeneblue Год назад

      Yes

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop
      @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop  Год назад

      So Redington's Salmon Field Kit is setup as an 8wt rod which is probably best used to chase steelhead. For Kings in Great Lakes region, we prefer at least a 9wt and usually a 10wt setup. This is because the fish can be wonderfully large and we often find ourselves fighting them in small & medium rivers. We do offer a Salmon outfit more appropriate for our waters that we put together ourselves. Thanks for watching!

      The "salmon" field kit (8 weight) is a great option for steelhead!

      @@TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop is there such a combo for steelies and browns for SE Michigan? Or do I need to just buy two different rods? Looking to fish Clinton river Huron river maybe Grand occasionally eventually go north a bit too? Recommendations? Got about 400$ to spend

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop
      @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop  Год назад

      @@philcarlson5313 Well, it really depends on how you would like target browns. You can absolutely use an 8-weight but when you need some finesse (dry flies) it's a bit much. If you're throwing streamers or nymphing water that also holds steelhead, it is the way to go. Many anglers do choose to have a lighter 5-weight and heavier 8-weight to handle different situations and presentation styles.
