Well done, the small details always make or break what makes a grappling channel average or good. This video was a good example of really putting emphasis on the small details and the STRUCTURE ofwhy something works. There's a reason why John Danaher, Peterson grappling, and Gracie have the spotlight on grappling channels
I do learn judo because based on my ustadz says judo is one of the sunnah self defence. Thanks master ☝... Because in my city is manymany delinquents and can not rely on the police. my ustadz also said that the best human being is someone who is useful and can share his knowledge, like you master. Thanks so much, may Allah bless you and your works
I have wrist issues doing morote seoi. Could you do like a top 5 list of things to avoid when doing (drop) seoi to avoid injury and guarantee the ippon? Greetings from Germany :)
the assistant always has the toughest job haha. thanks for the detailed explanation. the bit about putting your elbow into their chest was really helpful.
I bought all your instructional videos on Judo Fanatics! All of them are exceptional. Highly recommended. Looking forward to your next release. Hope it's one on Uchikomi Drills
Always struggled with this watching has made me realise I'm not opening up my leg to get the final drive in, looking forward to the mext randori to try it out 🥋
I am curious about 1 small detail on 2:20 Why does the arm position differ from the "regular" ippon seoi nage, does it offer any biomechanical advantage from the way you would execute a standing seoi nage?
hooking into the other armpit would be more difficult because the opponent is higher than you while you're on your knees, this grip is faster and stronger
Hi Shintaro, your content is really appreciated and I like how I can identify my own mistakes while watching the videos. Sadly, our coach usually only has time to look at our techniques superficially and point out basic mistakes.
During uchikomi I understand the execution of this throw but during randori I just can't seem to find the opening to execute the throw. I still can improve on my shoulder mobility for the morote lapel grip so any exercise for that? As always very helpful video sensei
Great video!! Question. Can you address when going against bjj practitioners in which they just pull guard. What techniques can we use in judo to by pass their pulling guard technique. Thank you
I’m a BJJ player and your videos have helped me with my stand up. I don’t have a Judo school in my area or I’d train Judo as well. Are the belt ranks in Judo the same as BJJ? I mean the colors of belts I’m sure the degrees and time vary. Awesome videos🤙
Very similar. White yellow orange green blue purple brown black. But a lot of adult programs skip the orange blue and purple. BJJ obvs omitted yellow orange green. Comes from the same place
Are these kinds of throws allowed in BJJ tournaments? I heard slams are illegal. Would these throws be considered slams or takedowns like the double-leg?
Shazam Sakazaki tournaments have different rules from each other usually depends on which one you compete in but yeah slams are usually illegal but a throw isn’t a slam
Can look to keep working kouchi, work a snap down, improve position, throw some fakes in there to gauge reaction. If they know drop seoi is coming, im sure they will react to that, so next exchange, we can try to exploit that.Hope this helps
Hey, I am a competitive Judoka and I find that I always get nervous before I go on the mat for competitions and then perform poorly, do you have any tips for relaxing before a competition? Also I know competitions won’t happen for a while but it was always annoying for me because I can beat everyone from where I live in Randori But then when it comes to competitions (even club competitions) I get nervous then perform poorly.
First of all, it's very common. For me, I found having a pre-match ritual helps me a lot. I take myself through a breathing routine and a few exercises to put me in the right mindset to compete. Also, the more you compete, the more you'll get used to it. Hope this helps.
Great breakdown... ..ever seen the 'rwanda' rousey video/gif? It shows a girl doing this on the street and smash a guy's face. hard to find because it brings back so many results of the real rhonda. Brutal but educational :)
As far as experts go Your instruction is always the clearest and straightforward
red belt level explanation xD
We can fake ass front like we trained under him,his explanation is so clear.
Honestly, no one explains Judo better than you. This is like John Danaher level of clarity and systematics in your teaching style!❤️🖤
Thank you!!!!
Better IMO. Danahar can get to rambling a little. He's good, but not to the point

Because of this i won gold in judo comp💪
Thanks again for the video Shintaro! Really appreciate your detail oriented teaching style!

For sure. Will come up soon.
the assistant always has the toughest job haha. thanks for the detailed explanation. the bit about putting your elbow into their chest was really helpful.
Clear guidance, with the small details emphasized. Arigatoo gozaimashita. OSS
The drop Seoi nage with ab curl is a Seoi otoshi.
I just found this channel. Massively underfollowed channel. Such nice work. I'm excited for the new videos!
Welcome! Glad you are here :-)
Great video!
This used to be my favorite throw. You're making me want to do Judo again. Wish it was bigger in my area.

@kaanaksu9201 thanks mate.
Thx shintaro concise and quick very helpful. And thanks lara for keeping this series going
Really good instructional video. great!
wow, so useful setup for throw, thanks a lot!!!

Finally! the drop seoi nage broken down so well!
Congrats on your graduation brotha!!!
Love this explanation. Thank you.
super clear and detailed instructions
Thank you very much for your instruction!
Like the elbow and wrist details!
Chiaro e importanti tutti i dettagli tecnici. Grazie.

Find the opening by faking a technice I think. In shiai it really helped me so I think give it a try
shoulder dislocations with a band is great for improving shoulder mobility. But if initial kuzushi, is sufficient, you dont need that much mobility .
@@Shigashi84 thanks for the tip sensei I will try that
@@Shigashi84 Sensei if we fake sasae and then find the opening for drop soei nage have we got a chance to break our uke defence and throw?
Another awesome video! Thanks!
Nice shintaro
Love these videos
Purple belt?

Kouchi gari works great. I cover this in bjjfanatics.com/products/low-risk-judo-throws-for-bjj
cool Vid. Thanks
Subscribed and notification turned on!
Thank you! Hope I can contribute to your grappling system!
@@Shigashi84 if you keep explaining that way, you will! I finally understood where my ellbow has to be placed.

How to not hurt your knee while dropping?
This is Gold !!
Are drop seoi nage good for a surprise attack?
Requires a bit of set up but my favorite throw
Ideally a surprise attack should come from the rear. So I'd say if you're surprising somebody from the front then you should consider sneaking more.
Definitely can be a surprise if you attack high for a little while and save it.
Great teaching
Thank you
Sensei one question. What if the uke in the kouchi doesn't bring his leg back and knows we will go drop soenage?
Can look to keep working kouchi, work a snap down, improve position, throw some fakes in there to gauge reaction. If they know drop seoi is coming, im sure they will react to that, so next exchange, we can try to exploit that.Hope this helps
Thanks!
Why are her sleeves and pants short?
Probably preference
I think It's a bjj gi not a judo gi
I do find it strange in the west we wrongly call it drop seoi nage but it is actually technically seoi otoshi 🤷♂️
Congrats on purple belt!

Shintaro Higashi Thank You 😊
Gold! demon is in the detail.
Has anyone pulled this off without coaching except me?
I saw a street fight where a click 'sucker' drop Seoi Nage's the dude clean face into the floor. He just fucking stays there crumpled.
Thought she was a black belt?
I miss doing Judo so badly! 😢 (edit: is anyone’s school open?)
me too!!!!!
I did yesterday covid test I hope i don't have it so I can start judo

What do you and your husband do for fun, he make videos of him throwing me around and post them online 😆
sounds exhausting
Good afternoom! The videos are better when she is in sight! Think about it!
Never knew there was such a thing as a judo purple belt lol
