Kavakos is THE genius of our times. He is techniqually so brilliant that he can concentrate on expressing the music and in my feeling he´s so deep into it and so much eliminating all the superflous that he´s reached a level of performing that really can be characterised as perfect. He touches one´s deepest soul, if you can define art, I think, THIS IS IT.
Except the posture of his right hand which is surprisingly unnatural with high wrist and stiff bow changes. He compensates this deficiency with his talent but it is odd to not have sorted it out being so brilliant in all the rest.
This is the most incredible beethoven you will ever hear. This concert alone is worth the subscription to the Digital Concert Hall as was stated below. I could not agree more. Kavakos delivers the most genuine and inspired rendition, every few bars is a moment of unmatchable artistry
This sublime version is by itself worth a subscription to the Digital Concert Hall. You should see all the orchestra musicians ecstatic at the end...extremely moving.
I hate this channel... every single video on it is so fantastic, yet it only shows slight bit of each concert., so it makes me want to buy them all! Damn, I hate good marketing!
- the melody in this piece is very intense and clear - the mood the instruments set keeps switching from calm to angry - the atmosphere is very serious - the orchestra playing together is very coordinated - the violin is playing a major role switching the modes in this piece
This is my favourite orchestra and here too it's superlative. The soloist plays with poise and restrained beauty. There is a dramatic moment at 0:21 that enlivens the entire movement. The violin sounds marvelous in the rondo theme
Hi Berliner Philharmoniker =), I would to say thank you for taking the time and effort to upload this enjoyable video. It was a pleasure to listen to. I hope you have a nice day.
my mother's fave concerto. I miss you mom. love you 4 ever.

I like how he played the Tutti in addition to the solo

I came here for Kavakos, then spotted another idol of mine leading the viola section Amihai Grosz!!!

His tone is so clean and bright. I really loved that!
Man, putting every note right where it needs to be.
how is joshua bell still playing out there when we have this guy? this is total genious, and my fav interpretation of this concerto.
Ivan Luza well joshua bell is really good...
@Ali Abbas I don't like Joshua Bell either, but to call him a clown is a bit too much
The bassoon is really beautiful too!

When you purchase a annual subscription you'll get a discount on that. Just send them an e-mail and ask for the price for students.
@jeannef1968 he is greek this is why!
@Farnik01
I think so too. I'm a student, and don't have enough money to buy them
Beethoven: Violin Concerto / Silverman • Salonen • Berliner Philharmoniker
@harrisonharris01 i agree. they should be more recognized
Woah, I haven't seen the russian bow grip in a while
🎻
this is the closest I've found to Itzhak's rendition. unfortunately that version was taken down due to copyright claims.
Really great. But the bassoon solo is on the same level too ;)
I thought Mutter was good until I heard this. I wonder what Kavakos and Josefowicz could do together????
0:21 ffff?
Kavakos re-engineers and re-imagines Beethoven!
4 People have no ears -.-
LOL
I don't like his violin hold..
A lot of accomplished violinists are accomplished because they had found their comfort zone in the way they do things on their instruments.
it is clearly good enough for him
he's a tall guy...
You should just listen
Τράβα να ακούσεις κάνα σκυλάδικο, κλαψομούνικο, χασισοτράγουδο εσύ...
he rushes - badly - and Mehta never was that good with tempo or control ... decent tone tho ...
well make it better........
