I like their Swiss Chalet model, getting my home in Florida ready to sell and hope to move to Wyoming, so i will certainly check them out once i get relocated.
@@bensimmons8804 Hi, have you visited Eureka? If so, is it a nice place to live? For being so far north seems like elevation would be higher. Thank you...
I went on a road trip during the covid fiasco to get away from California. I spent a few days exploring this area. Spent the night in a great hotel with lots of amazing chainsaw carvings. I just hung out and fished. Talked to people. They are very protective of their little town and wary of outsiders, especially Californians. Rightly so. But if you’re cool and respectful and don’t behave the way alot of Californians do…entitled… you’ll get along great. Talked to the owners of the sporting goods store for an hour. Libby is just a gem. I would like to return and go drift fishing. Great video, thank you.
Well they just recently had a burnout contest at Happy's in and they actually have a bar and the restaurant inside as well not just across the street and the bar across the street is called the kicking horse
Thank you for this trip down memory lane-we lived in Libby late 70’s/early 80’s... and yes, vermiculite came home with my exhusband, as he worked for the forest service... I believe it was used when they planted trees... absolutely LOVED this corner of Montana!
And I thought asking for a pre approval letter from the lender before a showing was a lot to ask. You guys are going above and beyond for sure! Thanks for the info.
When I lived outside of Troy … white tail deer was my favorite meat served on my kitchen table ! So fresh & clean when raw …while cooking it’s much like beef , the taste & flavor was truly amazing… so delicious & tender ! I sure mis living there !
I’m retired but my wife still works. She’s a nurse and will have to take a $10 per hour pay cut if she goes to work in Libby. That’s $1,400 per month pay cut for treating cancer patients. How can we survive with loosing almost $17K pay cut every year. Costco is 90 miles away in Kalispell, so that’s another thing to consider.
Always love driving through that area, didn't know it was a superfund site. And there always seems to be a fire when I drove through too! Lovely place if you really, really want to be remote.
There is no paradise on earth. Every place has positive and negatives. outsiders snatching up real estate is killing the locals ability to afford housing. Prices have more than doubled in the last 2 years. This is happening everywhere as the wealthy try to escape places they helped destroy. Yeah it’s pretty. But it’s not like the city. Don’t come here expecting to be entertained constantly. The weather can suck, fires really suck-and the poor air quality means many indoor days during the very short summer. Schools are pretty bad-look at the ratings. You’ll hit at least one animal. Drivers are generally bad-lots still believe we don’t have a speed limit. Drugs and alcohol are problems (long winters). No big shopping fun. No fancy shops here. Not many chain restaurants in the northwestern part of the state. It gets into the 100’s and below zero. It is hot and dry and cold and dry. Liberal cities have large homeless populations like everywhere else. Know before you even think about coming here. And you can’t avoid the rat race it comes with you.
Our son and his wife are experiencing their second day living in their new home of Missoula, Montana. She is a traveling nurse and they have been getting the feel for where they want to be in the USA. Definitely not in the deserts of Arizona or the rush rush of LA was definitely not it. My cousin Mindy is a retired federal employee in Mines in reclamation and she has been in Missoula since graduating Stevens college a lifetime ago.
Missoula locals like to say they love Missoula because it is only 20 minutes from MT. The rest of MT hates Missoula because it is a liberal shithole. I was born there and lived there for about a decade, and if I never have to go back it will be too soon.
I graduated high school in Troy. Good hunting and good scenery, but the poorest county in a not rich state. Not a lot of economic opportunity, secluded; if you like your privacy and peace and quiet, it is a good place to live. But there is a reason pretty much everyone is an alcoholic by age 16 here. Fun fact, the Kootenai River below the falls is the lowest elevation in MT, right at about 1800 ft.
isnt libby still one of the superfund sites I remember reading the whole story about the Asbestos plant......I almost bought a home there about a decade ago.
How would you characterize the health food scene in Montana? Do most major cities have good farmers markets, or organic grocers where I can buy my organic food?
Hoot owl company does sprouts/salad blends in Libby which you can buy at Rosaurers grocery store as well. East of town off Kootenei river road- take Bobtail Cutoff and take advantage of Judy’s pick and pay. It’s amazing!
Great videos! I have a big question for you. I've heard Montana has become the first in the nation state to pass a law barring employers from questioning or forcing the vaccine on employees. I find this vaccine mandate thing outrageous. I'm curious if you know much about this recent law and if this law permanently stays I think it's safe to say Montana will be getting massive amounts of people from all over the country moving there to avoid vaccine mandates.
@@LivinginMontana1 and I take it you have noticed a sizeable influx of people moving there or at least inquiring about moving there because of this new law?
How far does one have to drill for a well in the Troy area? What is the normal summer and winter temperatures? How good is the medical system in the Troy area? How far is it from Troy to Libby?
I've been considering moving to Libby for a long time, and I've always had concerns about the asbestos problem. Would you say it's entirely safe to live there now or is there a decent to good chance that houses on the market have asbestos issues still? Thanks for the video, the area is incredible.
Epa never cleaned inside of homes just the attics. No one lives in their attic..that I know of. Epa are liars in selling this death town as safe. It is not safe to anything that breaths. Pass this on. Thank you
Yes, I know these people. They are my friends and excellent craftsmen. The store and the Montana Cafe are worth seeing and it is worth making a stop there. 👍🌈
Spotty. It is MT so if you're a local, you're used to it. Better than it used to be. They only got towers for cell service a few years ago. You'll get service in town. Outside of town, not so much.
Its quite a pretty penny up there, I been looking and decided to find something a bit smaller and more affordable for my budget. I saw your comment so thought I'd comment back. 🤠🐎🙏🏽✝️💛
Nice vid :)
Thanks for watching!
There is an Amish Community in Libby and a Farm to Market store. They also build log cabins. Meadowlark Log Homes. You should have mentioned that.
Yes I should have!
I like their Swiss Chalet model, getting my home in Florida ready to sell and hope to move to Wyoming, so i will certainly check them out once i get relocated.
I work at Meadowlark, I sell homes. I just got done eating lunch at the store. Definitely worth a visit for people coming through.

I love this area. My grandparents had a house on the Kootenai River just west of Troy back in the 90's. I had a lot of great summers there.
My brother lives near Libby...Sends me pictures of grizzly bears, black bears, big-horns and wolves...Love it!!
I lived in Libby and Troy in the ‘60’s. I loved the Cedar Creek bar back then. This was before the Libby dam was built.

Got a kick out of when you said Happy Zen, there was donuts and other forms of tire markings on the roadway..

Did this drive just a few weeks ago. Kootenai country is beautiful. Would love to visit again when the smoke isn’t so bad
It's getting much better now!
Love Libby!!

I’m from Troy. Born in Libby graduated high school out of Troy. It’s a nice area but lacking work for sure.
Love the area. It's an easy day trip from Coeur d Alene.
The drive down Rt. 2 is awesome.... Just watch out for deer. Never seen so many Whitetail Deer in my life.

Thank you for posting this! I'm going to foward it to my friend who is originally from Troy and now lives in Washington.
Loved Libby. Loved in Bozeman and went to Libby to hunt in November. Awesome country!!!!

My sister just moved there from California. She got out just in time before COVID
We have tons of people moving here from California......
@@bensimmons8804 Yeah; we're moving up to Libby too from California. Except our family has been in Libby since 1890. We're Manicke's
COVID is rampant here! Refrigerator trucks are needed in the bigger towns. Nobody wears a mask. Only 45 percent got a vaccination.
Absolutely spectacular
Thank you for this video, I always look forward to your videos.

Great question, but I think it's likely you will not get a response
We ended up in Rexford.. We drive through on our way to our property
Libby has a nice golf course, the Cabinet. Troy has a skate park.
Another great video !
I appreciate that!
Great vid Will, I always enjoy 'em. Thank you -

Nice video and very informative, thank you!
Shout out to Horseshoe Lake And Happy's!
Such a nice place.. 🥰🥰🥰
Nice Area and good Time 🌳🌲👍
Hello from Southern Oklahoma. Great video and information as always.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I stopped there in 2017 at the river ,there was a filming crew shooting a scene at the bridge. Movie is called Radio Flash .
Me and my girlfriend just drove from our home in cda to the car show and falls on Saturday for a little adventure
Another great vid, will be doing annual "Guys Trip" with my sons' in May (Glacier).

That is correct, Montana is the only state in the nation where employers cannot mandate the vaccine.
Other states seem to be trying to do similar I noticed.

It is safe. There is an EPA office in town that has records of every house in town that needed cleanup.
@@LivinginMontana1 thank you so much

It’s cleaned up and you’ll be notified if there’s an issue you’ll be fine.
No phone, no pool, no pets. Ain't got no cigarettes. Poor choice to live. Haven't lived here all my life....(yet)....
