I know, right? Deltarunes 1 and 2 have already had such a big impact on the gaming community. When all 7 chapters are out, it’ll no doubt go down in history as one of the greatest games ever made.
@hbegamingyt2779 "If" isn't negative. It's neutral. Calm down. It's perfectly healthy to not assume we're gonna get something Toby said he's not entirely sure he'll be able to finish. It's also more fair to him since that's obviously a lot of pressure. Don't get me wrong. It looks to me like we probably will get it at this point but no reason to explode on someone for just acknowledging the fact that we don't know.
Love the idea of the Weirder Route hidden in the Weird Route/Normal Route that requires you to go even more off the rails for a third storyline. Playing Snowgrave right up until the end and then aborting to get the Twisted Ring and Snowgrave on a normal route is weirder, I’d love Toby to play with that idea going forward
Mhhh... Three routes, three save files? To break destiny? I doubt that is the case, because Genocide in Undertale is bad and ruins everything. But maybe Weirder and Normal togheter is a solution.
I do wonder how many branching paths the end game will have. Like, for his sanity, I would hope that Toby Fox sticks to just the normal and weird route, because having multiple routes is a coding pain. At the same time, doing something like introducing a new route each chapter would be insanely interesting.
Yeah! Also an interesting fact is that after beating berdly with Noelle's usual freezing attack she'll still have snowgrave in her magic menu, and also the creepy hospital cutscene in hometown will still trigger, which may lead to some sort of half-snowgrave route
I've wanted to try a route like that for a while now, because I wonder about how important the darkeners are to the plot of Deltarune. Like if we're really going after power for a reason, I wonder how much of an impact it would have on the outcome if all lighteners were spared, but not darkeners. Because we have to kill every last darkener in the Cyber dark world to get Thorn Ring, but we don't have to kill Berdly to craft the Twisted Sword. I wonder if keeping the thorn ring in our inventory also has value, because it might be possible that we won't have access to it in some capacity for a significant amount of time. Or that Noelle refuses to let us take it off, kinda like how Susie does in the first chapter when she's rebelling against our commands. I get the idea that the pure crystal is probably from the secret boss routes, no doubt "stitched" together by Seam themselves. I do wonder how the routes will affect these bosses though, because notably in snowgrave you fight Spamton automatically, so clearly there is an effect based on your actions beforehand. That could just also mean that Toby wants to always make it available to you regardless of your actions to change the outcome, so maybe all the Shadow Crystals are attainable in any given route.
In fairness, the White Ribbon is the first item you can find in a chest; so I wouldn't be surprised if that's why it's a placeholder, and not any deep lore reasons.
@@krakios3950 No, the implication was never that it's canonically connected to Dess and or the code person or whatever, it's just people pretty commonly include lines hinting at literal later events hidden within unrelated or metaphorical lines, specifically so that people go "what the FUCK" on a rewatch/replay and it y'know, fucks up their brains. Undertale had a number of them, I think. Toby Fox could very easily draw that connection through the white ribbon as something that people would (presumably) only see in hindsight by tying it to that message. Very easily doesn't necessarily mean very likely though, I really don't think that's supposed to be a thing.
@@alt4388 It could be that Susie wore twin ponytails when she was younger, & maybe Noelle at one point briefly saw her with them, before she stopped wearing them & tried to act more tough? Susie's reactions while refusing both ribbons (& their combined item) certainly seem to imply she doesn't want to look young/soft like that "again".
This is a great example of why you should NEVER USE MODS when analyzing stuff. To avoid anyone else making errors like that, have a completely fresh version of Deltarune that you'll never open the files to edit or mod. Have a 2nd version you'll only use for looking through the files. Have a 3rd version you'll edit files/mod. Mistakes happen, though I'm glad my concern about that video were right as the internet should've caught on fire if that was true a long time ago as we have had "access" to the Twisted Sword for a long time.
@@cloverlovania Unfortunately that doesn't matter if the Thumbnail doesn't, even though it was unintentional the video presented things in an way that intentionally misinformation is and that stuff is really damaging. With dislikes being removed finding the truth is a nightmare on RUclips and the smallest mistake is fatal.
@@mogalixir That's what he assumed too. That's the whole point. He thought the mod was only adding the weapon to his inventory, not giving it actual functionality.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 "really damaging" "smallest mistake is fatal" bro it was a tiny mistake in a goddamn deltarune video that doesn't really matter. I get your sentiment, but that is incredibly melodramatic over what is a non-issue
@@doodlebloom_Deltarune and Fnaf are games with the most insane theorists/lore Which makes me wonder what other game has insane theorists to finish the trinity
The problem is: what makes a light world item, when brought in, a dark world item? Right now we have Kris'(?) pencil, Susie's chalk box and Noelle's watch (also there's that ball of various stuff but those start in dark world). I thought I had an idea but now I don't actually know.
@@caltrop2932 You're thinking of a bottle opener. A Kris is always wiggly. Besides "twisted dagger" is not even the item name. This not a stretch, this is just wrong.
Tbh I really like the idea of the twisted sword being used as a weapon for Kris to fight us, since the trance down arrow really makes it seem like it would make Kris more aware of their surroundings and us and be able to fight back
Something I stated to a friend a while back about the "pure crystal" is that its purification isn't necessarily a thing that would make a shadow crystal less "evil," as shadows are often perceived. Purification when talking about crystals in fact means that the concentration is higher, so if the cat purifies a shadow crystal to make a pure crystal, then the pure variant should probably be even more shadow than prior to its purified state of the shadow crystal.
An interesting detail I realized earlier. the puppet strings are described as feeling like guitar strings, strings you tug on to make noise hence "they pull the strings and make them ring". Strings that someone likely removed from a guitar that probably belongs to them.
I have suspicions about Dess being stuck in the game's code (thus are the voice asking if anyone can hear them), & that maybe at one point she tried to speak through Spamton, which was why he pretty much quoted that line (thus, why there's both the guitar strings comment from Noelle, & coming to Spamton's shop with Noelle has her feeling nostalgic). And maybe throughout the chapters, she'll be hijacking more ways to try to get through & communicate her situation.
every time i hear a deltarune theory im like "oh wow this is really interesting foreshadowing that sounds intentional" but also "this is some stoner shit"
To me it seems like the Twisted Sword "route" is something very hidden, much like the Weird Route itself. Kris seems to have some plan, going as far as opening a Dark Fountain on their house even if we make Noelle through them kill Berdly. I think the Twisted Sword "Route" will have Kris take control of their body and play through the rest of the game by themselves, with us only acting during battles for dodging bullets, going through their plan fully without having to wrestle control from the Player from time to time. Maybe they even get to speak out loud and just generally act fully like their own person. It's such a needlessly complicated set of actions to even keep the Thorn Ring that I can't help but think there'll be some really big secret route locked behind it. It's even more creepypasta-like than the Weird Route. And like you've said in the previous video you can even get Noelle to keep the Snowgrave spell if you have her use IceShock against Berdly which really makes me think the whole "Canceling Weird Route at the last possible moment" is something Toby intended for us to find, something that will be elaborated on the later chapters.
One problem Cutscenes( you can't do anything on cutseness)making cutseness take a long time if they take just half a chapter where Kris take countrl, it will take years to make and chapter 2 was the largest because of cuteness, this means the game will take along time to finish.
@patrikgaming_420 noelles story is definitely setting up for her to come to the dark world again, and that aside, noelle has responses to items you cant equip her with during her time in the party (i.e. the spamton neo items)
To go off of a side tangent that was only barely touched on in this video, Kris's tone and expression is very frequently mentioned throughout chapter 2. If Kris disagrees with you, they will make it known somehow. Alphys will comment on Kris sounding insincere if they say Susie is a bad partner, Ralsei (or maybe Susie, I can't remember) will comment on Kris enthusiastically agreeing with wanting to perish in the perish/bosom option. The biggest example of this is Kris suddenly shouting if you tell Susie that Kris isn't okay after the spamton neo fight, like they're leaping at the chance to call for help. It's honestly pretty wild
He has gone over it many times before and probably wasn't needed in his theory this time lol. this is great info for someone who doesn't know this already and can give some much needed context as halfbred does like to assume we watch and know every theory sometimes.
It would be really interesting if having to deal with Susie being outside of our control in battle in Chapter 1 was actually foreshadowing for Kris getting outside of our control in the Snowgrave route
So you wanted to put a chest into first room of dark world that contains the sword, but you found out there was already white ribbon coded for that room? I love those finds and all the theory crafting around it. Imagine TobyFox taking long time with the chapters just because he have a crazy bi chart about player outcomes, getting prepared for dataminers curiosity. i love it.
the code is basically on create itemid = whatever the white ribbon's id is itemtype = armor if room = room_[i dont know]_ch1 itemid = other id itemtype = hejdndekbdje end if room = and it goes on. it can be assumed that the maze chest was the first added meaning it would have been easiest to simply not make a room check for it
From all the clues we have, it could be possible that Kris and Des went into the bunker together and found themselves in a dark world, which could have been dangerous and Des sacrificed themselves/got trapped for Kris to be able to escape. It would kinda explain Kris's save point, Des's disappearance, Des's items etc.
Yeah, the pink ribbon *was* in chapter 1, I remember seeing it in the files on a detailed video on unused items when chapter 2 wasn’t out yet. Didn’t think it would make it’s way into Chapter 2 but it did and I’m proud of it, congratulations pink ribbon, you made it in the game!
I really like the idea of the Twisted Sword being Kris's way of "cutting the strings". If the Pure Crystal is what I presume it is - a reward for defeating every secret boss - then it makes even more sense. So far, Kris seems to really be able to relate to and empathize with the secret bosses, especially Spamton, and if it keeps up like this, it seems like that's exactly where it's headed. The crystal is, after all, purified by "the cat" who 100% has to be Seam. But Toby also likes red herrings and trolling us, so maybe it's Catti or Tasque Manager. Or h*ck, maybe Gaster is a goddamn cat. That is Element 6, after all, isn't it? (Edit: Catti, not Catty. I'm dumb)
Could be Catti, as well, since she performs occult stuff, might know Wiccan-type magic, etc. Which could be just a fantasy IRL, but having that much imagination & faith in the supernatural could make her quite strong in the Dark World when it comes to purification spells.
@@ZaCloud-Animations___she-her now I'm envisioning a chapter happening at the restaurant block with Ice-E as a secret boss that you fight with Catti and Noelle
@@drascia Oh jeez, I think that might happen too; he keeps getting hinted at as an Eldritch horror in people's imaginations, so in the Dark World he'll probably be HORRIFYING!!! 😱
Toby going out of his way to make the Fatal Damage status go away between actions within the same turn has an interesting implication about what we're going to be doing in the upcoming chapters
@@dylanzlol7293 not just that the weird run will continue, that there will be a situation specifically where a Fatal attack isnt used as a scripted end of battle mechanic there will be situations where youll use Fatal attacks or spells as a *standard* mechanic in fights
Hey so i had a theory a while back, basically... what if instead of Ralsei being made in the image of Asriel, he was made in the image of Kris, and was made by Asriel as a means of creating an ideal brother. Both Kris and Ralsei have red eyes, and Ralsei is the complete opposite of Kris, being extremely supportive and not a prankster whatsoever... Ralsei, being a monster goat, would have been what Asriel wishes Kris looked like, rather than an adopted Human. And considering Asriel is older than Kris, and in College, he was probably around 5-6 when Kris got brought into the Dreemur household. Maybe he has some kind of resentment or jealousy, similar to Cain and Abel from the bible... or Jacob and Esau... Asriel probably had to deal with a lot of people pestering him about his adopted younger brother... and despite being an over achiever, as shown by the many trophies in his side of the room, Toriel and Asgore would dote over Kris more than Asriel. Seriously think about it... it makes more sense than Kris making the ideal version of Asriel in the Dark World, and seems like the smartest and most logical way for Toby to subvert expectations.
Hold up, you may be on to something! That would also throw a wrench into this perfect sibling dynamic and REALLY screw with the player AND Kris themselves. That’s so edgy… I kind of like it!
I mean while that is a cool concept, idk, Asriel does seem to have cared for Kris a lot, sometimes to his own detriment, so it feels sorta uncharacteristic for him to do something like this
@@im_acasual It still works if this was early on with Asriel knowing Kris. Perhaps Ralsei even is what allowed Asriel to go, "Ok, I get it, I have a brother in the light world, I need to be better"
Just a speculation but it would be really ironic if the twisted swords' real life counterpart would be a kris knife/sword with maybe the crystals ironed out into a blade and the ring wrapped around the hilt. Probably not but it makes you think.
@@brawlmaster0190 It would be extremely ironic if you needed to get all the Shadow Crystals to be able to get the Pure Crystal, making it unusable on any of the side bosses, and if chapter 2 is anything to go on, you would need to finish the Dark World before you can even see Malius again to make the Twisted Sword. It really would be like Undertale's Real Knife if that's how things go, but that's assuming every chapter has a Dark World and a Shadow Crystal, and I'm guessing they're going to change things up as the story progresses. (I will definitely laugh if the Twisted Sword is unusable in normal gameplay though lmao)
Like the legit Kris knife? the one from some ancient history stuff? Didn't they also use twisted swords in a way? It is funny how Kris is legitimately named after a type of sword, I wonder if it's a nod to the Twisted Sword being their sort of signature blade.
I do think that if it ever becomes possible for us to both use this sword and to kill enemies that it would be guaranteed for this sword to be the most OP weapon in the game ever.
Although it's currently the most powerful weapon in the game, the twisted sword actually has fairly tame stats. I don't think you're going to be one-hitting everyone, or anything like that.
This was very helpful in understanding how fatal stuff works in Deltarune. And no shame towards MysticSlime. Mods and other info can confuse things. Plus I enjoy both his and Halfbread chaos’s work
Honestly I feel like a lot of mystic slime's shorts are just random things he found browsing reddit that he actually has no clue what he's talking about
Kris betraying the party orders with the Twisted Sword may have been foreshadowed in Chapter 1, as Susie already did this when the player tried to "spare"!
Huh... Welp. Time to get that Thorn Ring for the future! But seriously, I love the idea that Toby's trying to suggest that violence is the answer sometimes. It would reinforce Asriel's speech during Undertale's epilogue and would kinda emphasize the idea of the Neutral Routes. "Frisk... Don't kill, and don't be killed, alright? That's the best you can strive for."
Isn’t it possible that the White Ribbon is the default chest item because it’s the first item found in such a chest, and would thus presumably be default value, or something like that? I think it’s the first one, anyway.
ive looked in the code and neither of them are really placeholders (well i assume you're talking about enemy chasers), it's probably that they were the first type of that object added so no room checks were necessary, just letting it overwrite itself if it sees it's in a specific room
Even though it doesn't right now (because it's an unobtainable item and the game isn't finished), I really do still feel like the Twisted Sword will end up being a "Fatal" weapon. I wouldn't be surprised if Toby finds some way to make it the key to getting Deltarune's "true ending" either, since making people fight all the secret bosses to get all the Shadow Crystals as well as aborting the Weird Route to keep the Thorn Ring seems like the kind of extremely specific meta stuff he'd pull.
Honestly, I'm betting we need to use all three files, and that the Shadow Crystals would allow one from the good route to go to a weird route file and get needed items from there, or vice versa
5:14 The busters distinctly hit the wires and the spare anim plays, thats a fancy act not an attack. I doubt you missed that obv i just felt like saying it.
Seeing Ewok in a little sweater at the end there totally made my day today. also I notice that its interesting how the thorn ring is needed for the sword, and it retains the trance ability, but looses the pain part, which is interesting considering that I would have been lead to believe, had the fatal twisted sword thing been true, that it goes from causing the user pain, to causing everyone else they strike pain, which would have been a cool concept, twisting the powers and purpose of the ring onto the sword, the twisted sword? feels like missed opportunity but we know Toby does everything on purpose
As an additional example for Kris disliking being controlled, look at the dialogue from Susie after beating Spamton Neo outside snow grave (also giving the player the option to repress their feelings)
I do think, whether it involves these items or not, redemption will be a significant plot point because of how it’s already been subtly foreshadowed in the conversations with Alvin about Kris and Asriel (as explicit foreshadowing, anyway)
Fun detail about how the player is controlling Kris. We control what Kris says, but Kris can still control how they say it. For example, Kris's response to the "Are you okay?" question after the Spamton NEO fight. They whisper if you choose "Yes" and shout if you choose "No". Something similar happens when Kris is asked who they'd like to go on the ferris wheel with.
RUclips recommendations must be off. Bored to death by weird recommendations for days and only NOW do I know about a wonderful new upload by one of my favourite RUclipsrs!?
I've been down a Deltarune rabbit hole tonight and it's making me go absolutely INSANE! I NEED the next chapters. No other piece of media has so thoroughly enthralled me to this point of obsession.
I think the white ribbon is the placeholder for what’s in a chest, because the ribbon is the first armor item you get. But you might be onto something, and it could actually be foreshadowing.
The ammount of layers that Toby goes through to add small details that adds to the mysteries and plot of Deltarune is spectacular. I don't believe the pink ribbon being in chapter 1 is a coincidence now that chapter 2 is out, since Toby put the idea in the first chapter that Noelle did have a sibling of some sort, but even if it was just an unused item, it's still amazing that Toby managed to make a way for it to be significant, by making Noelle react differently to it!
I agree, but there's some spelling mistakes (amount, simbling) So I'm going to yell at you anyway like someone missing 99% of their brain and uses the last 1% to look at Andrew Tate posts :)
I like the idea that the Twisted sword is made by someone who has taken both paths, both something from the evil path and the good path and "twisted" together to make something new. Which could also be the purpose of the 3 save files, one for good path one for the bad and one for the path you can use with the stuff you got in both.
It would actually be so cool if later on in the weird route, you no longer had control of Kris in battle, only Noelle, so Kris would just attack to try to non-lethally defeat enemies before you can kill that. That would be so sick. Btw, Noelle doesn't recognize Berdly regardless of whether or not she's wearing the Thorn Ring, and "can still hear their voice" too.
I don't think that the down arrow icon specifically references that a stat is being reduced, rather just to signify a general debuff, or bad thing being applied to the character. Similar to how Terraria has a blue background in the icons for positive status effects, like Night Vision, but has a red background in the icons for negative status effects, like Broken Armor. Or how TF2 has pros in blue and cons in red in its item descriptions. - I haven't looked at the icons specifically since I last played, but it seems to me that the icons don't signify what is changed, rather are just to show what the status is at a glance. Defense is positive, so it gets an up arrow, same with money multipliers. Dog is dog, so it dog. Buster TP DOWN is a down arrow because it is a negative effect. Fluffiness gets a fluff icon. And Noelle's trance isn't an up or down arrow, but is a ring. These icons don't showcase what the effect is DOING, rather showcase with the effect IS at a glance. Fluffiness isn't an up arrow, because it's not telling you an increase or decrease, just that the status is fluffy. And, those that don't have an icon, like Spookiness UP or Cuteness, get an up arrow not because they are increasing any stat or character trait, but simply because they are generally a "good/positive thing" being applied.
Isn't Buster TP Down reducing the TP cost by about 10? This is a positive effect since it costs less to use. Similarly we have two instances of Trance, one of which is Trance Down and the other is just plain Trance. You could be onto something but it requires working out these things.
I find it interesting that there is code to check whether an enemy was killed by snowgrave, seeing as under normal circumstances its an instakill move. Does that imply that there are going to be enemies in future chapters that are powerful enough to tank multiple snowgrave hits?
oh my God THANK YOU that's exactly what I thought about when I heard the intro to the MysticSlime video, "No way this would actually be a thing with the way fatal damage actually works, and with the way two chapters are basically two separate games using the same save file"
I like your content, It really makes me entertained and educates me on deltarune content and theories. Your content is the best ever content I've found in awhile, I could watch these videos everyday!
My working theory for the Twisted Sword and the Ring of Thorns; There may be multiple options for who to make "stronger", but not more than one at a time. If you leave ths Ring of Thorns on Noelle in chapter 2 and finish the weird Route, she will become stronger and likely alter future routes in some way. If you abandon the weird route and keep the Ring of Thorns in your inventory, you may have the option to strengthen someone else; with currently the only obvious option being Kris. Perhaps it forms a sort of Terraria Zenith situation where, after Chapter 3, you can then craft the Twisted Sword into a weapon for either Susie or Ralsei. And then the other following chapter 4, and so on. This works on the idea that the Twisted Sword _will_ deal Fatal Damage once it's actually obtainable in-game, but since we need to wait for chapter 3 to happen to see if that's true, I have no way of knowing.
I believe the twisted sword will be a trick to people doing this route and that using items with negative trans in the future will make it impossible to continue the rout so they will act like a tease
I personally think that the down arrow on the twisted sword is meant to represent the Trance effect being a "debuff" for Kris. Which makes more sense than you'd think, since we *can* already control Kris. It being a debuff which is meant to debuff their resistance makes sense if you think about it.
sometimes when i watch matpat i feel like he is going the right direction and he makes me feel he knows exactly whats going to happen and makes me like his videos you always make me feel that way and i love it! keep up the videos because you just earned a new subcriber
An important moment for me that showed the contrast of Kris’ emotions against our own choices is the conversation between Kris, Ralsei and Susie after the Spamton neo fight.
Yeah. How in all cases, even if we try to say Kris is alright, they can't hide the fact that they're not. In fact, the others get WAY more concerned & comforting when they hear how absolutely NOT fine Kris is, if we make them say they are.
The reason why the Real knife makes most enemies instantly spareable is because of it's attack damage. In Undertale, if your damage is enough to kill the enemy in one turn, the enemy will become spareable, and since the real knife has such high damage it is pretty much guaranteed to one-hit almost every non-boss enemy, which also makes them spareable.
Bread makes one of the most interesting videos I've seen in the past few weeks that must have taken like a month of working and calls it instant noodles
I'm convinced there will be Neutral Route Secrets in this game and have since I saw the combo for that sword... And really, a lot of information has come out since which is rather interesting in respect to it The pure crystal is one of those big mysteries; "Crystal purified by the cat." This was vague early on, but now we know that cats share an elemental pair with "Puppet." The Thorn Ring, on the other hand, has an association with puppets - It's given to us by a puppet, it makes Noelle our symbolic puppet, etc. So there's a symbolic aspect to that and a cat-associated item tying themselves together There's also the case of the Lone Wolf's Dojo dialogue you get if you fight Tasque Manager but recruit animals, who will go feral - A neutral route secret you only get by fighting select enemies. Also worth considering: You can get the secret boss items from the hole in town if you have cleared the fight in any save file. This includes the shadow crystals... It may well include the Pure Crystal. This game seems very replayable; maybe an option in the future will be to have that TwistedSword forged as early as Chapter 2? Re: Ralsei's muted reaction to the sword Ralsei seems like he has a lot of weird outliers when you show him items... I think the most notable is how he's the only character who seemingly does not care that the HeartsDonut is full of blood, instead saying it's "Sticky" have having a neutral amount of healing. Re: Violence. There are a few times when violence is a good idea in this game; the queen's barrier the most obvious. But it is possible in other places if you know what you're doing... The first fight with Berdly is notable because you are attacking his kart and not him, so it can be easier to be violent; attacking him in the second or third fights causes his arm to become unresponsive however. The fight against Rouxls Kaard can be done violently at no penalty, and is one of the best places to pull out the Ragger 2 and Jevilstail on Ralsei. The battles in the arena are, fittingly, a place where violence is encouraged. And of course, the entirety of Chapter 1 is fine when played violently. Probably the oddest iteration is Jevil... As mentioned, the Devilsknife boosts Susie's magic (And thus healing) and is notably the only weapon to do so yet, so the Knife is arguably best for a pacifist run. The Tail, gained through pacifism, boosts attack, magic, and defense; this is of course most useful if you regularly use both magic and attacks - Which a staunch pacifist would not do. So, in true Jevil fashion, that seems inverted Actually, a majority of the game can also be played by beating enemies up and pacifying them, instead of talking to them. Violence is usually an option, albeit a risky one if you don't know exactly what you're doing. I recommend it, if you want some extra content out of this game
I think Both routes are means to "Cut the Strings" of Kris, Spamton mention this in both of Them after all. You can say that The Weird route is similar to the Plan of Chara and Asriel to liberate the Monsters from The Underground. In this case In order for Kris to be stronger enough to break "the barrier" Its needed to cut the bonds that ties Kris to this World in first place. That way Frisk Will be strong enough to be even able too...break into the Code of the Game? And I think the the Twisted Sword is an Interesting weapon from redemption, Cuz If Kris beats the Monsters in order for them to run away, the Bond with that Monster is still thecnically gone, so Kris not only would be "weaker" in a possible weird route but also in the Neutral route as well. But the same is possible in the Weird route, You can still save Task Manager and other Two Monsters ironically...that still Could account as redemption? And Even if Kris did not see the tragedy of SnowGrave coming, Was still Kris The one that started the Thingy of the Dark Fountain so Kris know that in end of the day is the one the Blame, In that sense I see some parallelism with Asriel and Chara dynamics Too. And similar to Ralsei, Kris is the one nervious about the decisions of Chara/Player In the end of the day we Will not know Kris agenda and how the Weird route and the Twisted Sword affects the original "Plan" Kris has. Kris is also Unpredictable, the things that could do without our control can be great! or much worse... So Idk really. I honestly have More questions that Answers.
What does the twisted sword become in the light world? Like, most of your items turn into miscellaneous junk, and your weapons turn into like, pencils... What if the twisted sword (or another item) ends up becoming the Real Knife after returning to the light world with it equipped? Could be kind of crazy, though to be fair Kris seemingly had an actual knife hidden away somewhere on their person anyways (since they literally pulled it out of nowhere during the ch.1 ending)...
I knew that mystic slime's video was just wrong and misleading, and after i saw the ridiculous damage, i just. didn't watch that video ever. because i knew how twisted sword works.
Hiiiii, thanks! When i see all the video, am gonna edit this comment Very good video! I love the theory's so here is mine Maybe Kris will use the twisted sword to cut of they strings, being so powerful to cut them, because spamton says u need power, so maybe that's why is so strong, and maybe, the "Only one final" is only for the player, not the characters... Or just is a very powerful tool if you don't want to noelle do the dirt work
I think the Twisted Sword will give back some control to Kris. I believe you will so someway forced to collect every Shadow Crystal if you follow the Snowgrave path. Spamton NEO one is planned to be obtained and Jevil one is easily recoverable. Seam says that having only one Shadow Crystal is useless so probably you need to have them all to have the Pure Crystal or to find out whatever their purpose is. "...It seems that you didn't get another Shadow Crystal. Hm. I understand. It's no small feat to fight an opponent that has one. Well then, forget it all." And since the Thorn Ring is heavily connected to the Snowgrave Route I think the Twisted Sword will be obtainable only in this route. It would be so cool if Kris stopped the player from killing everyone, as saying: "That's my world! Not yours!" but I don't know if that's possible as the players would know it time what the Twisted Sword does so the "interrupted Snowgrave Route" will be something done only to play every route, no surprise or anything. Or maybe we will forced to craft the sword if we follow this path. I really don't know! Sorry for bad English!
What if you dont have jevil's shadow crystal? Would Kris be unable to stop it? and how can we be forced to craft the sword? The hammer guy is the one who can craft the weapon on the first place, He is a side character and itd be entirely random that this random npc is actually suddenly important even through the game doesnt even focus on him at all, he doesn't know about whatever is happening on the other dark worlds, and what's he gonna do about it? Hit us if we dont accept? btw, You can abort the weird route, take the thorn ring away from noelle and stay with it, and do the secret bosses anyways, how can the twisted sword be snowgrave exclusive? i honestly think that its more likely that the twisted sword is a thing that leads to another route or smthn.
Your English is pretty good @@Sbum.0021! For reference, "Sorry for bad English" is missing a "the", so it should be "Sorry for *the* bad English." Hope this helps you learn the language!
Every time I hear about the Twisted Sword my mind immediately goes to the one sword from Elden Ring that you get by beating on of the Godskin Apostles, which is ironically a weapon that uses Death…
Considering how Spamton says “DO YOU THINK THAT MAKING [Frozen chicken] WITH YOUR [Side chick] WILL HELP YOU DRINK THAT SWEET SWEET [Freedomsauce]?” In his snowgrave fight, I wouldn’t be surprised if that twisted sword breaking the control we have over Kris is something that happens
Well seems like Toby plans to have fatal kills in the future, and he definitely has ways to keep this hidden. All the characters can't fatal kill except Noelle with the thorns ring using snowgrave. So either we will be able to fatal kill in the future or snowgrave route is REQUIRED to be able to fatal kill in future chapters.
in undertale im pretty sure the sparing when getting the monster to low hp is checked by how much is your atk stat like like if you had a stick you would have to hit a frogget 2-3 times before it dies but with a higher atk stat like the real knife you would be able to 1 shot it and do some overkill damage which would be based on how much damage you do
5:10 emm susie simply attacks king, she does not cast rude buster here. And also, if we want to get something that works, well some of us that played the Ribbit mod know that if you finish the first challenge with at least 60 hp left, you get +1 permanent defense AND A CHEST, which contains the equivalent of the Revive Mint, so maybe you could try to modify the ribbit mod to get that Twisted Sword
The fact that the white ribbon was placed in there instead of anything else is very interesting, also obviously everyone remembers about the puzzle you had to solve to cross the path in that map right? Now it says “only eyes blinded by darkness can see the path” now my theory is could that be dess trapped in the code but sees a path or something? It’s stupid because dess says it’s hella dark in whatever void she’s in and can only hear scratching noises but the puzzle could be useful in future chapters perhaps? The white ribbon part could also fit perfectly with jaru’s theory cuz he says what if dess was in the dark world, good video as always and have good day or night
that is interesting, preventing the player from controlling one that is easily controlled by keeping the player anchored to himself, that would certainly explain that whole scene, it would also raise some questions on how much control kris has over us instead of what he have over him, we seem to have more control in the dark world from what we've seen, and the weird route could be us getting more power or some sort of convoluted plan to get power back from us we just don't have the information yet
I think the Trance on the sword might actually loosen the control from both the player and Kris, so a 3rd entity takes control. I assume whatever is affecting Noelle would be equally affecting Kris, and while on the weird route it's "beneficial" for us to put Noelle in trance, it might not be the same putting Kris in trance, it could end up having the same effect of the end of the genocide route from UT, where Chara takes control and attacks people on their own.
Fixes a friend's error. Proceeds to talk about the misunderstanding for a while. Gets curious and does some experimentation. Finds possible secretion accident.
The down arrow for the sword's version of Trance could just denote that it's a downside/debuff, rather than reducing the trance effect or being a placeholder. Aren't there some items that use down arrow icons like that? I swear there was _something_ that did, like maybe the mechasaber for its flavor text ability. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.

Man this game's gonna be insane once the other chapters are released
Let's hope we get to live enough to witness that
I know, right? Deltarunes 1 and 2 have already had such a big impact on the gaming community. When all 7 chapters are out, it’ll no doubt go down in history as one of the greatest games ever made.
@Random Buttons Shut
@Random Buttons stop being a baby
Same. All this Weird Route stuff really has insane potential
Plus the sign HBC mentions is literally signed Lancer, no reason to assume it's connected to the Lost Person
@@krakios3950 what about Noelle talking Abt the familiarity of the ribbons
@@alt4388 perhaps it is an item she or someone she knew lost at the school
The implications of Toby's code are either going to be fascinating in hindsight, or funny as hell

Deleted my comment because you said it better lol. 100% agree
Krises are wiggly, not twisty
The problem is: what makes a light world item, when brought in, a dark world item? Right now we have Kris'(?) pencil, Susie's chalk box and Noelle's watch (also there's that ball of various stuff but those start in dark world). I thought I had an idea but now I don't actually know.
@@lasagna3289 Not all of them some are indeed twisted.
That makes sense, especially since pure darkness is already shown in the form of Castle Town's fountain.
This sentiment gives me Off vibes
It could be a pure darkness Crystal, explaining its massive magic and attack damage boost.

What if Ralsei still listens to our ACTions, so we at least dont lose complete control over the game?
One problem
Cutscenes( you can't do anything on cutseness)making cutseness take a long time if they take just half a chapter where Kris take countrl, it will take years to make and chapter 2 was the largest because of cuteness, this means the game will take along time to finish.
@patrikgaming_420 Yes,she will show up again since she's a main character
@patrikgaming_420 noelles story is definitely setting up for her to come to the dark world again, and that aside, noelle has responses to items you cant equip her with during her time in the party (i.e. the spamton neo items)
@patrikgaming_4207The game seems to be setting her up as the adversary of Ralsei's prophecy, so probably.
Another one is when Kris compliments queen and Susie says it sound very sincere
It would be really interesting if having to deal with Susie being outside of our control in battle in Chapter 1 was actually foreshadowing for Kris getting outside of our control in the Snowgrave route

So you wanted to put a chest into first room of dark world that contains the sword, but you found out there was already white ribbon coded for that room? I love those finds and all the theory crafting around it. Imagine TobyFox taking long time with the chapters just because he have a crazy bi chart about player outcomes, getting prepared for dataminers curiosity. i love it.
I think they meant that "white ribbon" is the placeholder for all rooms unless toby actually gives a room an item
the code is basically
on create
itemid = whatever the white ribbon's id is
itemtype = armor
if room = room_[i dont know]_ch1
itemid = other id
itemtype = hejdndekbdje
end
if room =
and it goes on. it can be assumed that the maze chest was the first added meaning it would have been easiest to simply not make a room check for it
Maybe the Twisted sword is used to put ENEMIES in a trance? Ralsei says it’s like a spiral, which could imply it’s effective against darkners.
To hypnotice or sleep your enemies like in other RPG games
I mean, we do hypnotize Jevil don't we?

Ralsei has pink eyes
@@idioticlight well what is pink but a cuter Version of red-
Hold up, you may be on to something!
A long dagger with the blade made out of the crystals
You know what would be even more ironic? The Twisted Sword being like the Real Knife in Undertale, with absolutely zero chances to use it on anybody

12:07 I think the white ribbon is just the armor placeholder, like how Rudinn is the default enemy place holder, really good video none the less!
ive looked in the code and neither of them are really placeholders (well i assume you're talking about enemy chasers), it's probably that they were the first type of that object added so no room checks were necessary, just letting it overwrite itself if it sees it's in a specific room
I swear you make better videos and edits than most deltarune youtubers

Seeing Ewok in a little sweater at the end there totally made my day today. also I notice that its interesting how the thorn ring is needed for the sword, and it retains the trance ability, but looses the pain part, which is interesting considering that I would have been lead to believe, had the fatal twisted sword thing been true, that it goes from causing the user pain, to causing everyone else they strike pain, which would have been a cool concept, twisting the powers and purpose of the ring onto the sword, the twisted sword? feels like missed opportunity but we know Toby does everything on purpose
the idea of an item kris can use to slowly fight back against our violence with their own, kinder kind of violence is so intriguing to me!! :0
✨Kind violence✨ hehe

-
I haven't looked at the icons specifically since I last played, but it seems to me that the icons don't signify what is changed, rather are just to show what the status is at a glance.
Does the thorn ring have an up arrow for trance?
Isn't Buster TP Down reducing the TP cost by about 10? This is a positive effect since it costs less to use.
Similarly we have two instances of Trance, one of which is Trance Down and the other is just plain Trance.
You could be onto something but it requires working out these things.
@@drdca8263 the thorn ring has a ring for trance i think
@@dylanzlol7293 thanks
I genuinely don't know how to put it into words, but you and your content have something special. Keep up the incredible work!
I find it interesting that there is code to check whether an enemy was killed by snowgrave, seeing as under normal circumstances its an instakill move. Does that imply that there are going to be enemies in future chapters that are powerful enough to tank multiple snowgrave hits?
5:34 does this apply to bosses as well? The idea of Undyne backing down to a kid with a knife amuses me
*accidently rewinds too much*
*lands directly after the insta noodles screen*
Me: BEHOLD, MY GREATEST ABILITY!
oh my God THANK YOU
that's exactly what I thought about when I heard the intro to the MysticSlime video, "No way this would actually be a thing with the way fatal damage actually works, and with the way two chapters are basically two separate games using the same save file"
I like your content, It really makes me entertained and educates me on deltarune content and theories.
Your content is the best ever content I've found in awhile, I could watch these videos everyday!
I love watching you talk about and unravel deltarune's code, there's always something new to find out
1:00 Hey Bread, this might be a mandela effect thing, but I am 90% sure I've seen that death animation back when chapter 1 released.
My working theory for the Twisted Sword and the Ring of Thorns;
There may be multiple options for who to make "stronger", but not more than one at a time.
Deltarune's secret stuff content is so damn interesting.
Bravo, Toby.
sometimes when i watch matpat i feel like he is going the right direction and he makes me feel he knows exactly whats going to happen and makes me like his videos you always make me feel that way and i love it! keep up the videos because you just earned a new subcriber
4:39 hold on, when you give Ralsei the Devilsknife he equips it and says "I'm a good devil, ok?"!
A pseudo-crossover of Bread and Slime was not what i was expecting today but I'm all for it lol
I'm convinced there will be Neutral Route Secrets in this game and have since I saw the combo for that sword... And really, a lot of information has come out since which is rather interesting in respect to it
The pure crystal is one of those big mysteries; "Crystal purified by the cat." This was vague early on, but now we know that cats share an elemental pair with "Puppet." The Thorn Ring, on the other hand, has an association with puppets - It's given to us by a puppet, it makes Noelle our symbolic puppet, etc. So there's a symbolic aspect to that and a cat-associated item tying themselves together
There's also the case of the Lone Wolf's Dojo dialogue you get if you fight Tasque Manager but recruit animals, who will go feral - A neutral route secret you only get by fighting select enemies.
Re: Ralsei's muted reaction to the sword
Ralsei seems like he has a lot of weird outliers when you show him items...
So, in true Jevil fashion, that seems inverted
Actually, a majority of the game can also be played by beating enemies up and pacifying them, instead of talking to them.
And similar to Ralsei, Kris is the one nervious about the decisions of Chara/Player
In the end of the day we Will not know Kris agenda and how the Weird route and the Twisted Sword affects the original "Plan" Kris has.
Kris is also Unpredictable, the things that could do without our control can be great! or much worse...
So Idk really. I honestly have More questions that Answers.
honestly hysterical to me that pipis are mechanically ready to die at any moment
Your usage of the scientific method in your analysis of the game makes it so interesting and entertaining! Thank you for your uploads :D
Because you said how we corrupt the characters. You're my new favorite deltarune
I knew that mystic slime's video was just wrong and misleading, and after i saw the ridiculous damage, i just. didn't watch that video ever. because i knew how twisted sword works.
Hiiiii, thanks!
When i see all the video, am gonna edit this comment
Very good video!
I love the theory's so here is mine
Maybe Kris will use the twisted sword to cut of they strings, being so powerful to cut them, because spamton says u need power, so maybe that's why is so strong, and maybe, the "Only one final" is only for the player, not the characters...
Well then, forget it all."
And since the Thorn Ring is heavily connected to the Snowgrave Route I think the Twisted Sword will be obtainable only in this route.
@@dylanzlol7293 Yeah, what you are saying is much more likely, I just put there random thoughts. Sorry for bad English.
Thank youtube for telling me a video I've already seen is a "IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION"
Very helpful 👍
Lots o secrets buried in Toby's code writing
Very interesting
Well seems like Toby plans to have fatal kills in the future, and he definitely has ways to keep this hidden.
All the characters can't fatal kill except Noelle with the thorns ring using snowgrave. So either we will be able to fatal kill in the future or snowgrave route is REQUIRED to be able to fatal kill in future chapters.
Another banger video from my favorite Enby Deltarune youtube person
well the twisted sword is not evil,
it’s just the ones that hold it can use to bring it to yin or yang
We have to theorize about the counterpart in the lightworld of the Twisted sword
in undertale im pretty sure the sparing when getting the monster to low hp is checked by how much is your atk stat like like if you had a stick you would have to hit a frogget 2-3 times before it dies but with a higher atk stat like the real knife you would be able to 1 shot it and do some overkill damage which would be based on how much damage you do
5:10 emm susie simply attacks king, she does not cast rude buster here.
Isn't a "Kris" a sort of twisted blade?
I love both of your channels. The DT community is dedicated.

Broo the punchline of "just for you, Toby."
Bro ur videos r freaking awesome, can’t describe how much I love it when u upload anything at all. Wish u all the love and sleep well🫶
