many temples have follow that custom of free meal. Some even follow 2 times meal for every day. Anyone can have it foreigners, native.
Some temples organize it during specific festival days. In such cases, nearby people get their meal from Temple than making it in homes. It is money saver. And hygiene is not an issue.

Hi guys. Firstly I am very happy to have come across this vlog. It was beautiful and as a Goan I hope you enjoyed your stay in Goa. About the food at the temple, it is what we called mahaprasad. Prasad in Hindu religion means, symbolically "blessings of God”. It is a devotional offering made to god that is later shared among devotees. It is completely alright for anyone to have it. It is blessings of God.

Having the free meal is actually a good thing for everyone... God doesn't know you are different than any of the locals.. For God you are one of us :).. if anyone has an issue is either we humans.. So if you have that apprehension recommend to put in some rupees in the donation box.. This is the money where the free food comes from.. So that takes care of your apprehension.. as regards the other humans, don't think they would bother as far as you don't snatch their share :) .. at the end lucky that you get such rare opportunities to indulge in.. There is nothing wrong if tourists or foreigners avail free lunch in temple or elsewhere in India. Indians are very liberal minded and there is no reason why they will mind. Rather, I would say, they welcome anyone or everyone irrespective of caste, colour, creed etc.
