Leveling sand for install of an Intex 26x52 soft side above ground pool

Leveled the ground today for a 26x52. Came up with this technique. Used a 13 1/2 foot 2x4, drilled a hole in it on one side and used a 10” spike to hold it in place in the center. Pulled it around using a wire about 15-20 times while pulling sand with a hoe to fill gaps, then added 10lb spread between 2 spots and went around another 15-20 times. Then added 3 bricks and repeated process. It is quite smooth and really level.
