Excellent, I have a couple of these clamps inherited from my Father. I’ll give this a crack to clean them up.

I did a similar c!amp and formed my vinegar bath trough with some plastic sheeting and pool noodles on the shop floor. It worked great and required minimal vinegar. Mine is perhaps a little cheaper than pvc. You could make the form out of scrap lumber too...

Well that answers one of my questions - where do you get that much vinegar? It seems the answer is - wherever you can get it!

Ok this is a slightly off topic question...but how does the Karcher steam cleaner go generally? Been eyeing one off for grout and mould etc 😊 ...also, lovely restoration, I've got my first one planned soon 😉

😂 thanks James. It’s pretty good. We have found at times you still need chemical but it’s pretty good. We also use them at the hotel and they do a good job in the bathrooms.

A really good upload Ainslee, educational, useful and fun! I am old and vinegar will not bring me new life but watching you work The Small Fry Way has been good :)
I am wondering if what you call "Pure vinegar" is what we in the UK call "White vinegar"?
I have bought a vintage marinar's parallel rule for use in calligraphy ruling and it is made of ebony and brass but amazingly with metal attachments which have rusted! Would you believe they would do that in a salt water environment? Anyhow you have given me the confidence to get it apart and give it a new working life. The difference in those sash cramps is amazing. I had one which was especially handy when re-springing chairs and sofas. Not a problem with the way they are now made!
Many thanks for this expertly made and presented demonstration! Best Wishes, Eryk 🙂

Thanks Eryk. I wonder what they would call in the UK. We have White Vinegar in Australia buts its mostly used in cooking. Just test a little but of the metal in the vinegar first to make sure it doesn't destroy it and then you will be good. The Sash clamps are so useful. I never thought I would use them as much as I do. Thank you for all the support :)
