I think some of the ghast was luck he didnt get super shot out and a little bit of skill with jirard landing in the right spots
All 3 of them had extremely close brushes with death in this episode: Jirard with the Ghast, Jon with the arrow to the head, and PBG with the lava
i mean he's never died it only makes sense

yes, the redemption arc I'd be willing to watch even if it were another 20+ episodes long.
Jirard really is the best. He recently Helped Chuggaaconroy get back his Earthbound videos that got claimed and stricken and such by Sony. It's all back now because Big J.
....The fact that RUclips let Sony claim Earthbound content is more disgusting than anything Emile's luck has done in the last 5 years.
Now I just wish we had Emile in HC.
Hopefully next season we could have Jon, Emile, Tim, Jirard, Reese, Jeff, Amber, and Shane.

The ghast chase on that tiny bridge was genuinely one of the most intense moments in HC history. Absolutely nerve wracking, the fact nobody got knocked off is a miracle

PBG's wide-eyed enthusiasm at seeing all the new Nether stuff is so cool and really brightens up the darkness of the never-ending hunt
I feel like the anime ending to this would be if Jirard somehow was the last person left and ended up beating the ender dragon

All these seasons later, and PBG is still the reckless troublemaker he was back in Season 1

As they were walking on the bridge, I was thinking "they would be so screwed if a ghast started shooting right now"

I honestly don't know how Jirard survived. If he had any sideways momentum he would've fallen off.
They lucked out with the Ghast turning the other way. They weren't doing a good job at blocking themselves up - if the Ghast continued to pursue them, they likely would have all died right there.
Jirard pro gamer instincts kicked in to not panic fall.
Fr, this was one of the better episodes - I know not really anything of importance happened, but the subtle tense ambience was palpable and them exploring all of these new biomes for the first time and being genuinely surprised (like myself as I haven't played the game in a while) was p exciting.
I was at the edge of my seat the whole time
I for one am really into the long hunt for the fortress, maybe it's a bit dull for some waiting for each episode. However it's gonna be either really satisfying when they find the fortress, or really heartbreaking when they die trying, so right now I'm just kind of on the edge of my seat. This is very suspenseful.
I agree, I'm enjoying this too. As much as I want them to succeed, at the same time I kinda don't want the suspense to end.
reminds me a lot of the final episode of mc hc 2 lol
honestly, if they died and then the camera peeps slowly panned over behind a wall to where the fortress was hiding, that would be heartbreaking… yet I’d still love it
Todd’s editing is as spot on as always seriously it’s incredibly nerve wracking and I’d argue it’s what makes this series

Very very true! The editing makes this more intense. Bad editing or sub par editing would just make it boring.
Yeah I'm glad we're past Minecraft 6 because he's gotten a lot better
@@hajoeijgenraam295 me and some other people preferred it when it was more casual. Todd is an amazing editor but basically having a jumpscare que anytime theres even a tiny amount of danger gets a bit boring after a while.
Also the length of these episodes are double than what they previously were, before they cut the unnecessary stuff (such as them going around in circles for a whole episode).
You know, as silly as this has all gotten, I'm enjoying this adventure through the Nether. Instead of them seeming to always happen upon a fortress really early, it feels they actually have to explore this new land to find it.
This has become the most tense season to date. It's even getting to Austin. I'm pretty sure that's the first time he's ever sworn in hardcore lol
I think Austin found season 5 more tense i remember him asking Jeff if they could stop for a bit so he could catch his breath 😥
i think he's sworn before but not in an actual serious scenario. im really rooting for him though if he's getting into it this much lol

when peebs broke that block at 20:31 i just knew there was gonna be lava behind it, also him going f*** just showed the genuine fear from that moment because he doesnt really swear in this series

I was so sure that deja vu was gonna refer to pbg accidentally shooting a pigman again. Would've been a classic throwback. Also I'm grateful to PBG for getting them to do scary stuff so we can have moments like the bridge run against the ghast.

The tense, suspenseful music during the 1 block bridge building transitioning to the whimsical music once they reached land was a real mood whiplash.

ngl this nether is atrocious they spawned it probably the worse biome to spawn in and they stumbled into a bastion remnant

In reality though it is cool to see Austin take charge, albeit leading them in circles and not really going anywhere
peebs is the best leader they have. they have to speed up to mimise the risk of the death. peebs need to stay alive he may not be knowegfable but nobody is.

This is a Todd appreciation comment. Everything from the camera angles, to the tense music, to the way it kept switching between each person's perspective really made you feel like something could happen at any moment. He's been one of my favourite editors on this website for years now.

I watched that part and heard Jon's disappointed "Jon" from his playthroughs, seeing as how Jirard JUST told him he was trying to shoot slimes.
I have never, in my 7 years of following Peebs's several different channels, EVER heard him say "f***" until today.

Props to the editor, the music kept me on edge the whole episode
This series really highlights the importance of Mcjones. Lucah did an excellent job teaching the newer players and keeping people safe, until PBG got her killed. But once she was gone Shane had to takeover and although he was the most knowledgeable out of the group, he's just not the type to take the lead and direct a team so he mostly stayed quiet.
Now with even him dead, we have reckless PBG(the one responsible for the most deaths of his teammates by a landslide throughout all the Hardcore series) as he just stumbles around aimlessly leading them in circles for no reason other than "we must push forward". It's nothing against PBG, I perfectly understand his role in the show and how much more exciting he makes it by always being a constant pressure to keep pushing the team forward(sometimes without him a series will slow to a crawl as the team hesitates to move on to the next goal), but he's just not a good fit to lead a team to success, he has his role and he does it really well.
I have to say though I really loved Lucahjin in this and Terraria#3+Starbound and I really felt it when she died. I know it will never happen(especially because McJones is gone for good), but I would love a future series with PBG, McJones, Dean, Barry, Spacehamster, Lucajin, Yungtown, something about this combination of people just vibes so well together and it can really shows in Terraria #3. I'm going to go back and watch some of the older series for nostalgia’s sake.
I've gotta say, I really hope they keep Hardcores coming! I'd love to see several goin on if they could manage it, ie everyone gets their own cast/game going like Jon with the TRG crowd, Jirard with the TOVG Office people etc

This episode was so tense and scary, but like, in a cool way. I've never seen the new Nether either but this place looks crazy and vast and like you could get lost forever. I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for a fortress. I can easily see people go crazy in there. Imagine if it was just Barry and Jeffrey in there.
Been loving this series. Missed hardcore so much. I probably haven't watched a hardcore series as it went since Mc #4
This is my experience with the Nether.
All these years and I don't think I've ever found a single fortress.
I hope Austin figures out that nasty shield cooldown with axes before it gets him killed.
The editor is carrying the series that's just a God given fact right now lol. I'm enjoying the series but it doesn't feel like progress is being made because without Shane describing the plan it just feels like 3 amateurs being headless chickens.

been watching pbg hardcore for years and it still makes me so incredibly anxious during episodes like these lol. even if they're just playing a game and dying in game it feels like dreading a character death in a movie or show

I really hope they find out about the new villager trades and can get ended pearls from those, or at least bartering. Endermen have proven extremely dangerous in this HC and I would hate to see another enderman death
I mean alternatively they could actually just use the actual techniques they know for fighting Endermen instead of just trying to brute force it (which was really pretty silly)

Man, now I remember why I love (and missed) Hardcore. It's so exciting and stress inducing. In this case, they're down to three and it's super intense. And when they're in the nether, anyone could die at any second, and I brace for that moment. Please keep making these awesome seasons. I can't wait to see what you have next after this one! Maybe a season of Terraria? Or Starbound, maybe?
I hope Jirard makes it to the end this time, it would be the perfect arc for his character.

Glad to see that after all those times people died from random lava pockets due to miscommunication and pairing up, these three (or peebs rather) are being exceedingly careful with how they dig around, and rightfully so

@@jay-leebusque-blackburn6747 Just that hoglins can screw you over pretty fast. They can hit you from farther away than you'd expect from a melee attacker, and they hit hard. The increased knockback from them is also pretty punishing.
