Thanks for the great review, I have bought this tv 55" two weeks ago. I will apply the settings you provided later today.
    I found following few things:
    - When the tv searches for firmware update, it does not find any. However, I could download the update from the website and apply it using a usb stick.
    - In the sides (right & left) and bottom, the first 2/3 mm of the screens is slightly darker when a light image/video is displayed. This is not annoying but I noticed it, because it is not there on the top side. I think I also saw it during your review.
    - For football the picture not as clear as movies and other programs, especially the picture around moving players.
Nevertheless, I am very happy with it because it has nice picture and many nice features for a reasonable price.

Just bought this TU8500, was unsure if I would be happy with it as previously been using a Panasonic plasma from 2011 which is now in the bedroom.
Was quite surprised how good it is, quite like the natural picture mode, still tweaking the settings though but this is an excellent TV for the money! Any downsides are outweighed by the good! Viewing angles not an issue for me as I always view head on.
Would have liked an extra hdmi and analogue audio output but not too bothered.
Quite like the sound quality on amplify mode, it's a massive improvement on the Panasonic was has very poor sound, really thin and harsh, the Samsung performed really well in dark scenes so far I was surprised, I think my old plasma has deteriorated as some dark scenes now don't look so good.
Very happy with the Samsung, highly recommended if you don't want to spend any more than £550? Not sure you need to? As may upgrade in a few years anyway?

Only thing I’m not too satisfied with at the moment is the lack of black levels and some colors seem a bit off.. need to tweak it and calibrate it properly. The reason I went with this is because it’s a midrange tv.Also according to the specifications the tu8500 is actually slightly better than the au8000 at least the contrast ratio with the it’s dual led backlight and slightly better color space. But yeah need to calibrate this professionally to make it look the best it can.

I have TU8502 43". The edge light bleed is borderline "RMA" bad. I don't recommend this television, if you mainly use it in dark environments. The image itself is otherwise good, bright enough, and the colors are good. Also, GUI and usability are OK. But due to many people complaining about horrible light bleeding, I would not buy an edge lit Samsung TV again.

( PIP (Picture in picture) is a function that allows you to watch two programmes simultaneously. This means you can watch a TV channel and a picture received from another external video source (e.g. DVD, Set-top box, PC) at the same time. One source will be displayed on the full television screen and the other will be displayed in a small inset window.)

When it was by a window it was dark and even it best picture mode, the blacks colour was not a good as my old 2015 panansoic 4k and this one was far better from a older tv.
When had to keep turning it off as screen would go off due to it lagging as apps bbc iPlayer and pay store not opening, also with Alexa it’s not great, sometimes turn tv on, can only say up one channel, as you can’t say itv ,
