There is a hole in the story given to the employees, at least from the info we have: Peter asked Marv, "Did they have a funeral?" This indicates to me that he was NOT cooperating with Async management on a solution to reintegrate him after he was found, as if he was he would have known about the management's actions while he was missing (8:29). They also don't provide any evidence that he escaped back into the Complex of his own will (9:44), keeping open the possibility that Ivan Beck forced him into the Complex in order to dispose of him.

The lack of any footage of him re-entering the complex is extremely suspect given we're shown every other part of the story. I'm wondering whether the Tench that attacks Marvin is actually a second doppelganger Tench somehow generated by the complex itself. This would explain why the team are surprised to see him down there and also why Tench doesn't seem to know about anything that's happened since his initial disappearance.

From what it looks like at the short burst of images at 13:18-13:19
The first one looks to be a explosion bathing a person in green light, like that seen of the girl who fell through her garage floor and ended with the bright flash of green light.
The second one appears to be what is possibly the higher ups at Async thinking up a way of trying to hide and cover up this incident with Tench.
The third one appears to be a possible documentation of ALL the things Async has done in the backrooms, with what looks to be mountains of paper in it.
The fourth one appears to be the same frame as the one 2 frames later, just more blurry and whited out.
The fifth one appears to just be the first but with inversed colors instead.
The sixth one as previously stated is the same as the third but better quality, with what seems to be a unknown person with a backpack possibly running.
The seventh and eighth appear to be of the same image, with the six showing a street in what might be a city with a pedestrian on the sidewalk, with the seventh being a close up on the pedestrian, who looks to be the same person as from the fifth running away from something.
From what might be concluded from these eight images spanning less then a second, it seems to be that the story of Tench being found dead from tripping and bashing his head against a rock may be false, with the team actually not being able to find him and needing a credible story to tell their working, came up with that when in actuality it seems Tench escaped to the city, finding a backpack somewhere and now is loose in society and the greater public.
Also I swear to god, the phone ringing sound at the end is the SAME ONE FROM FNAF, I'd recognized those damned ringtones anywhere, thanks for the 2014 ptsd kane.

Yeah, I wonder what's up with the green light in particular. That's not supposed to be Peter, right? Is it...? We don't know what happened to him when he was stuck the second time, but like, this second trip didn't seem as though it really had an abnormal effect on him? Even mentally, it can all be explained away relatively easily, and he definitely didn't look like he was, I don't know, full of mold or something. If he did get caught up in the green light, and that light is actually related to the monsters' creation, then... That's... Probably uh, not the best, I reckon.
I wonder if them keeping Peter around for two weeks was even true? Like, if we assume that they did throw him back in a lot earlier in order to not risk the project, prioritizing it over his life... Is this not something they'd say to cover it up, so long as they had the means to do so? Like, the select few people who talked to him aren't ever confirmed, right? And they'd probably be pretty secretive about it after he was identified regardless of how much they tried to help him. That part doesn't have something explicitly going against it like the one at the end though, so they may really have done their best, it's just unclear coming from A-Sync themselves.

This was perfect closure to Peter (yes, the detail about him dying from the stumble may be a cover-up). It shows that Async was methodical and cautious while studying the time-warp and trying to assimilate Peter, all while keeping the project running as smoothly as practical. Async isn't some exaggerated cartoon-villain shadow organization that 'only cares about the money, power and higher-ups'. Major props for writing a compelling monologue - as others have said, it felt like I was in a real meeting.

Switched thought - Peter’s still alive, as hinted by the public camera view near the end. Up until that point in the monologue, I believe the presenter was telling the truth.
One weird detail is the 2/27 date on the lost-Peter recap, while Peter’s camera and the presenter claim 2/29 aka 3/1.

    • @pyropulseIXXI
      @pyropulseIXXI Год назад

They weren't trying to assimilate Peter; that is likely just a lie, all apart of the cover up. They probably just tossed him in the backrooms and hoped he would die, but didn't realize he would get a shotgun and make an escape attempt
And they literally just killed Peter and claimed he fell and hit his head on a rock....
You are literally falling for the evil propaganda of the shadow organization and claiming they aren't that. Truly hilarious; they don't give a single ioto of a f*ck about human life; and you don't have to be cartoonishly evil for that; that is how the world works in real life

Peter actually got away, and then they hunted him down and killed him using camera footage from the city. The delayed report of him "dying on the hillside" is because of the delay in tracking him down after his escape. The whole reason for the monologue is to not make any other employee of their's aware that their lives are dispensable resources in the eyes of the company when compared with keeping secrecy.

There's a link in the description to a motion-capture suit, so Kane has made enough money from this series to really start using the same tech that the professional game and movie industry are using! It's so freaking cool! Granted, motion capture still usually requires some polishing, so this is by no means taking the easy route. I'm really happy that Kane has made enough money to focus so much on this series as what seems like a part time job/hobby/passion. While the overlayed effects of the low-quality camera and greyscale color palette (at times) makes slight imperfections in animation blend in, it's still no easy task to do what him and his team of creators are doing. He's been participating in a project with some sort of "otherworldly" spaces, which in itself isn't that bad. But then, his friend disappeared in the completely unknown circumstances, so eventually he had to come to terms with Peter's potential death. Next, he ended up facing some hellish entity and barely got away with his life. Then, on top of that, he suddenly met his "undead" friend, only to be held at gunpoint by him, witness how he shoots his teammate, and hear the next day that now Peter *really* was dead.

Still able to get me goosebumps with how well developed the story is. After that last video I thought things would an average “oh no he shot him because he’s crazy and ran away.” Instead this one hit a realistic approach of tench hitting the road of trying to recover from that incident, but ultimately failing and ended up going back only to try to escape again. This shows how the backrooms can turn a man into a psycho that doesn’t even trust his own reality.
And seeing the process of that kind of person physically exist with the company’s reaction was exactly what I imagined. Kane leaves no details out.

    • @alexanderkuhn2298
      @alexanderkuhn2298 Год назад +32

There are several discrepancies here that seem to point to the fact that Tench, while disturbed, was not as crazy as they are leading on and that there really was no plan to reintegrate him into society after being declared dead (how would they do that without accepting a criminal charge, ending the contract?). If he really was holding onto the belief that there was another threshold he could escape from that wasnt "an illusion meant to trap him' then why did he leave through the door he supposedly thought was meant to trap him? Makes no sense. Plus the footage and phone call at the end point to the fact that Async is lying about him "tripping and falling" (a really lame excuse if you ask me.) He is trying to reach his family in that phone call. After shooting Mark in the chest Tench says "Marv, I am alive, my family has to know!" before escaping out the exit Async said Tench thought was a trap. Lies lies lies. And you believed them.

he wouldn't ask marvin if there was a funeral for him if he knew about the cover up, and him managing to activate the machine and getting into the complex without anyone being able to stopp him seems a tiny bit far fetched.
Beck probably didn't have any intention of letting his cover up be revealed and face potential criminal charges, so he tried to dispose tench.

It's also clear from his conversation with the group last video, that he may be in panic, but he is not insane, and he still knows what he is doing.
Plus, he didn't know they had a funeral for him, which shows that beck is lying about them attempting to reintegrate him back into society.
And the line of "oh, he slipped on a rock and died" after all of those small little lies is a clear indication that they either killed him and try to make it look like an accident, or they failed to capture him, and so they tell everyone he died in an accident while going on and trying to off him without anyone noticing.

Incredible episode, this was very nice to watch and have a deeper look into Async, both visually and socially. The attention to detail aswell; when Tench's story was being told and the crowd reacts to certain points shows Kane can not only produce amazing horror material, but also able to make you feel connected to your surroundings and feel sorry for Tench, like YOU are in the crowd yourself. His decline into madness isnt rare, and given his perspective of things nobody could blame him. This also explains his "time-travel" line of things for people who didnt understand it quite well, and well, confirms Async isnt some evil corporation out to get the world like some people still thought about (Kane confirms it in an interview; also, the personnel's reactions to Tench's actions, like in Reunion with Marvins empathy in the heat of the moment, and this episode with the crowd understanding they had officially lost a co-worker). Either way, great story-telling. I think many of us felt what the crowd felt with Tench, lol.

Another person pointed out that Peter asked Marv "Did they hold a funeral?" If the company was trying to work with Peter to get him reintegrated into the outside world, he would have known.

It might bring a bit of positive feedback, but not on the one thing that Async has been relying on the entire series: funding. To me they would have had no choice, as admitting the truth could also reduce public belief, trust, and new workers. Async really had no choice but lie to the public if what youre saying is true, as we know they have done it before in past videos. Also, theres footage of him re-entering the facility, if they put him back in the Complex people would have known as he would now be on his course back to being a normal employee. What I like about your Backrooms series is that the people at A-Sync are also trying to figure out what’s going on along with us, the viewers (even if we’re given all the events out of order). It’s not like FNAF where it’s all up to the fans to solve everything and find/piece together every detail all on their own. A-Sync is just as confused as us for how Peter somehow jumped through time. good job Kane! Thank you for creating a backrooms series that’s actually pretty nice to follow and well made without it being like “oooOOOOOO scary liminal space with a VHS filter and a monster that was poorly rendered in blender resulting in yet another chase sequence oh no!!1!11!”

I hope you realize that most of those came out after his original video

pretty much the same as everyone else in this comment section, but the scariest part of this series is not the backrooms themselves, but how they _affect_ people
like sure, getting chased by an otherworldly demon thing is scary, but it is truly unsettling and disconcerting to see people get trapped in the backrooms, try to rationalize their situation, and then slowly deteriorate into purely self-preservation instincts, until they're literally killing their friends because they can't think rationally anymore
that's the real horror to me, and Kane conveys it so well
