    Putting my health first and getting an unlimited Pilates pass in 2024 was the best decision I ever made. I healed two long term injuries and became extremely strong and confident. Put yourself first, it will pay off way more than mindless consumption.

      I love this! I feel like with all of my chronic conditions and just struggling with my health and long Covid over the last few years. I really wanna be better about not feeling guilty spending on myself and my wellness! I'm obviously like a very active person already but I just wanna kinda go with that extra step in 2025 and choose to prioritize spending on wellness over just like you said mindless consumption!

      This is also what I did in 2024. First time in my life I have ever cared about my body- spin classes, weights, and yoga! Everyone gives me a side eye for paying $200 to workout but it's the best money I have ever ever spent!

    My 2025 goal is to be "selfish" and focus on my finances and health. So I'm hoping to prioritize eating better/cooking more at home, fully funding my e-fund, funding my sinking funds and paying aggressively on my student loans. 2024 was rough but I'm glad I was able to use my efund for emergency purposes and to help family. But next year I need to rebuild myself.

    I’ve been following you for a few years now, the algorithm recommended you to me based off your financial / reset content. I remember you talking about wanting to included more lifestyle things and I remember the switch away from your rigid posting schedule and I’m just so happy for you looking back at this year and that you have managed to “have it all” in a way. I love that you found success (many different kinds, not just numbers based) while also finding balance and personal happiness. Excited to see what 2025 brings.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  Месяц назад +1

      I feel like a nice thing about this always being a lifestyle channel because you can go through phases of life and not feel guilty about it because you've never really fully niched down! So it's nice to be able to talk about finances, reset but also just everyday life! Dropping down on uploads was like the best thing I could've honestly ever done for my mental health and I feel like it's made me an even better everything- wife, daughter, friend, creator etc. I couldn't keep pouring from an empty cup you know❤️❤️

    Carter, thank you for being so honest about your finances and your relationship with money. I also have an all or nothing mindset with money and that’s my top goal for this year. Just because I mess up doesn’t mean I can’t stick to it! I plan on working on overconsumption too and I liked your point that whatever item I’m influenced to want, it’ll be there in a few weeks/months when I NEED a new mascara, shampoo, etc. Great video!!

    My 2025 financial goal is to buy a house :D I'm so ready. I haven't had a cat in years D: I spent the pandemic years paying off 40k in student loans while the interest was off. I spent this year saving 67% of my paychecks to build an emergency fund and save for a house. I'm hoping by May to be in a house 🤞

  • @KR-tr9fl
    @KR-tr9fl Месяц назад +4

    In 2024 I really tried to "use what I have, buy only what I need" and I was successful at times but I want to keep doing that because, like you, I tend to "stock up" on things (groceries, especially) and it gets out of hand.
    I also am planning a big trip to Paris in May so I hope to buy as little as possible until then so I can save up and feel good about hitting all of the vintage markets and stationery stores! (Two of my favourite things!)

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  Месяц назад +1

      @@KR-tr9fl it's definitely one of those goals that kinda always feels like it will be a work in progress!! But we're trying to identify the area areas where we could pull back like for example we tend to stock up when things go on sale, but we know it's gonna go on sale again😅

    Starting to think about 2025 goals too. I'm definitely not a detailed budgeter like you, but you did inspire me to start a travel savings account a couple months ago separate from my other savings accounts or emergency fund so that I give myself permission to actually use it for travel which was an issue for me when it was all lumped together. It's a goal of mine to take some bigger abroad trips in the next several years and now I have a savings account and plan that will help me to get there. Just booked a Germany and Austria trip for 2025! Thanks for sharing all of this!

    Hey Carter, Happy Tuesday. Thank you for sharing your financial journey not a lot of people like to share theirs. I learned how to budget at a young age because I always enjoyed saving rather than spend. Also I took a finance class in high school and my dad was always a saver who inspired me. It’s always helpful to have a partner who is finance stable and has their shit together (my boyfriend). These lessons that you learned through budgeting and finance are helpful for those starting out or trying to find their budget. I enjoy putting money into my savings but I want to put more into it every time I get paid. 😃🥰🎄🎅❄️☃️

    2024 was big for health and wellness for me in terms of starting fresh. This year it's going to be a big focus for me and I will NOT feel bad about the money I have to spend. I'm cutting out a lot in other areas to make wellness a priority for me. Working out, healing my gut issues, etc. I'm thinking of it as investing into the body I have to have for the rest of my life- I want to stay mobile and healthy for a long time!!! I also saw something that said "If you think wellness is expensive, try illness." After spending so much on medical visits in the past few months, I'm happy to invest in all the food, supplements and workout classes to heal me. ❤ Try the pilates studio!

    Technically paying down your mortgage is an investment. Not sure how it is in Canada but in Florida, real estate investing is huge. Short and long term.
    It’s different in every scenario. If your mortgage interest rate is low compared to the interest you might be making from savings- then investing in other things might be the better option. However some people have high interest rates on their homes and are eager to pay that loan down so they can start paying on the principal amount of their loan rather than funneling that money into long term investing (which a house is). So I don’t blame them.
    Thanks for the motivation to get my 2025 planning done! I agree with you, for some reason this year I am lacking the eagerness to goal set. The holidays flew by 😢

    For me it's - physical books I can only by with my work benefits credit. The only exception I can buy with my own money is my favorite author which is like 4 books a year max. The second goal is that I assigned 'silly things bugdet' for things like home decor, beauty gadgets, skincare that I didn't plan. I transfer set amount of money to my Revolut account, if the silly budget is not fully used - the rest at the end of the month is converted into euros and can be spent for silly things during travel, like sweets at the bakery
