Thank you so much, you definitely answer all my questions i recently completed high school and i apply Washington state university for political science major❤
Hi! Tysm for this video - it was really helpful coming from someone considering poli sci. My question is, what are some books you recommend reading before college to prepare for the great amount of reading you do as a poli sci major? Thanks!
Deer Rave You Can always major in theory (depending if the university you attend offers that major) and get a minor in political science. In regards to debate, political science is the best choice because professors teach you how to make your arguments stronger. Not just stronger, but also be able to get your point across the table. In the end, make sure to major in something you’d love to study.
@@yannetmartinez6784 Hi Do you any scholarship or grants that I can apply for because whenever I want to apply they ask me about stem major and I actually want to major in political science Arabic and women’s& gender studies(minor)
yes, definitely! you might want to consider doing a part time program just so you wont overload yourself but you can definitely pursue a degree in poli-sci while working full time
@Kaitlin Pages There is :) she graduated college and was admitted into her masters program for Public Administration and was recently was offered a job in DC for the Department of State
I want to major in poli sci and im totally ok with taking the classes you guys listed, but I was wondering if you had to take any math classes/course? I really need to know because I suck at math and I need to try to find a solution now instead of waiting and failing.
Kaziah Carlton it depends on the curriculum. I on one hand never took a math class as an undergraduate. I however did take statistics and research. Which are essential for political science.
I love political science but it is just that due to coronavirus I am nervous about pursuing this as a career. I am a single mother raising a child with autism. Any advice? So far I work as a medical assistant
Due to the COVID-19 uncertainty with schools, I have chosen to postpone law school for next cycle and Yannet has chosen to pursue her MPA for this fall. I am planning to do a Zoom follow up video and we can definitely talk about the options and different points to consider due to the Virus. If you have specific questions you would like answered or ideas talked through, feel free to DM on instagram (i see that much faster) and I am happy to discuss that with her in the video coming up!
Pray for me. I'm interested in becoming Attorney. I don't know what major is best for me. I'm thinking about Poli Science, History, or English. Pray for me please.
Either of those majors is good for law school. Having a major with a good Bachelor’s Degree job outlook is important just in case law school doesn’t work out, but above all study something you’re interested in. Good luck!
Yannet is majoring in Political Science and will be pursuing a legal career after, which is why she will go to law school. It's not necessary to go to law school if you're majoring in PS. You can go into different career paths with your degree that is not being a lawyer. Hope that answers your question!
I had to cut some parts but she went on to say that religion is a belief system that not everyone believes in and there are soooo many different religions which is why it is important to study how they affect politics!
Religion is inherently political, even personal, "non-worldy" religions like Christianity or Buddhism become political(medieval politics and the church).
This was very informative! Not a lot Of women want to be anything regarding science so I like that you two women are making change! ❤️❤️
You guys were the answer to my prayers!! Thank you so much! Definitely convinced me that poli sci is right for me!!!

yannet martinez What would you say to someone who is not sure about political science, i love debating and theory, but im not sure.

what kind of information would you like to see in part 2?
Daisy Michelle more examples of job opportunities and how to deal with cost of university etc...
Hello, I am new to your channel and I want to ask you if in addition to political science you studied law and if so, why is it so necessary?

I really like politics but the debate and writting stuff always get me because im not really good with it.
With practice, you will be able to improve your writing skills. Find what study and practice methods work best for you :)
I relate with her about it
Yanet
You laugh at being a dentist? Wow, you aren't being very open minded.
I think she was just laughing at the fact that she went from humanities to a more medical sort of thing...
Not hating on her but "religion is a part of everybody's lives" you sure about that?
I had to cut some parts but she went on to say that religion is a belief system that not everyone believes in and there are soooo many different religions which is why it is important to study how they affect politics!
Alessandra whether you believe in religion or not it’s a part of your life .At some point everyone decides if it affects them or not
Alessandra it doesn’t matter who you are, religion effects everyone
Alessandra is what way though?
Religion is inherently political, even personal, "non-worldy" religions like Christianity or Buddhism become political(medieval politics and the church).
