    Majority of real world bachelors level sociology jobs are presicely what was shown. It skews heavy into an intersection of law enforcement, education and social services. The top professions in those niches are Police Officer, Teacher and Social Worker....all require additional certifications. Some places will require an Masters of Social Work or Liscenced Clinical Social Worker designation to do the job. Everything else is prevention, assessment, intake, diversion, non profits, behavioral tech, counseling, teachers aid, juvenile probation, corrections, courthouse, department of juvenile justice, department of children and families, city, county, state, civilian military ect. There is a program called Educational Prepardness Institute (EPI), it's usually administered at community colleges. Its a way for non education majors to obtain education credits and certifications to teach. Thats a great pathway. Look into it. Also, roll the dice in private sector work. Flex your analysis abilities. Finance, tech, insurance, medical, allied health ect. There may be a certificate you need to acquire but its another pathway. Then theres just thinking outside the sociology box and see what is needed, gain the skills and find your own pathway.

    I know this is an old video, but is a sociology degree the same as social science? When getting a BA for sociology do you tame same classes?

    • @daisymichellevlogs
      @daisymichellevlogs 2 года назад

      Hello! No, it wouldn’t be. Sociology is a field in Social Sciences but Social Science is not specifically only sociology. Social Science would encompass a study in most major social science areas of study such as: sociology, psychology, anthropology, criminal justice, and many others! Depending on your specific program, a social science major can include classes in all of these topics as it is a more broad major. Again, it depends on how your school has the major requirements set up. I hope that helps :)

    This is so incredibly helpful. But the last couple of minutes, you spoke so quickly that I didn't understand the point of throw-away questions that aren't graded into the final score? Also, what was your first practice exam score vs your final LSAT score? A lot was crammed into this video. It's your channel so there's no need to rush. 😍 Have you taken the BAR? I have questions! 🤣 I'll subscribe so I can see if you have other videos.

    I have a Sociology B.A from Lehman College (1994). Sociology is useful in terms of employment AFTER graduate school. A four-year degree in this field is good enough for an entry-level position but that's about it. I work as a security guard with two CUNY degrees and a third degree in Religious Education. College is overrated big time. I wasted my time, youth and money attending CUNY from 1986 through 1994. Sociology did nothing for me. Basically, a college degree means to start and complete academic training. The degree itself DOES NOT impress an employer nor does it guarantee employment. My sociology degree has been collecting dust in the closet since 1994, honestly.

Which majors are useless without graduate school? Sociology Psychology Anthropology Geology Oceanography Astronomy Just to name a few, ok? Select a program that is in demand after graduation. dont do it

    • @chriscorliss8095
      @chriscorliss8095 3 года назад

      @Maxey I would. I graduated summa cum Laude at my college in 2014(ASU). I got a job quick at CPS (Child protective services) I was not emotionally suited for that job, had no promotion opportunities (government nepotism), and it emotionally wrecked me. I looked for other jobs and just could not live on the pay. I loved the subject and that is why i did academically well but it didnt help professionally really. I went to trade school and became a welder. I am so much happier now. When I was working at CPS I often had dark thoughts and was majorly depressed. I gained a ton of weight and now I am on medication for related issues because of the weight gain. If I could do it all over again I would not have even gone to college because I didnt not know what I specifically wanted to do. I noticed that being a constant among my peers. Im not saying this to discourage but i hate to see anyhone in the kind of misery I was in. Still paying off loans as well.

      my best advice for anyone struggling with majors particularly this one, is have a plan. I didn't. I was just hopefully. In the end, it didnt pay off for me. dont pick a major just because its interesting unless you are going to school for personal fulfillment only. What I didn't realize is college is a major investment and you need a plan at the end to earn that money back.
