The deer on my farm don't like cats lol
Somebody watched the whole video! lol...thanks FF
Stoney Ridge Farmer that’s a good sense of humor still rocking and a rolling on them jokes
@@ChurchsFamilyFarmCFF im addicted 🤪
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer always....BOOM
I am pretty sure you got that backwards is cats for us that don’t like Deere lol
Very nicely done. We moved back onto this farm after my father passed away last February. We have 2 horses that we brought from the other farm.
They had never seen cattle. When the cattle got moved back to the pasture in May, the horses went berserk. I wish we had videoed it . It was hilarious.
We just bought a little hobby ranch and I’ve been shopping around for side by sides. I’ve been on the fence between a 4-seater or a 2-seat with the big dump box. I love that this one converts between the two. I didn’t even know that existed. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for comprehensive review. I’m moving in 2 months onto 80acres and I’ve been looking at different ATVS. This one is on the top of the list!
This guy is more professional than most of the so-called, walk-around salesmen. Hey Kubota, give him a shout out.
lol....well ya need an honest review...the goods and the bads....I will say this...the darn thing is loud and slow lol
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer It really is loud and slow. It's as loud as the tractor and not much faster.
I can't speak on UTV's but I have an old Scag mower with a Kubota D1105 diesel in it and it is an absolute workhorse. We pulled it out of the neighbor's field after it sat for over 20 years. Did a fluid and filter change and it fired right up.
Thanks for the updated review after you have used it. I did one of these @RidgeLife last week. I will do some action video of it at work last this spring. Your first review made me get it. I love it! Thx
I’ve never had mine move and I have had rocks and dirt rear loaded and it stayed level! Get that checked.
Josh
I have the X1120, the 2 seat version with the 24.8 HP engine. If you loose speed going up a hill, back off the pedal, that effectively changes the gear ratio of the pump so it won’t loose speed as bad. I put the factory hand throttle kit on mine. You can independently control engine RPM from the transmission pedal. To start heavy loads for maximum power you open the throttle and your foot pedal only controls ground speed. Just like a hydrostatic tractor. They are wonderful work horses and built like a tank
Thanks Josh! Great overview and appreciate you waited 6 months before offering the review - some real life experience with it first. And of course, loved the moo-cow at the opening. LOL. Woooo!
for the tailgate, very simple....a steel cable linked to the two latches and running through eyebolts,in center two eyebolts 8 inches part, pull the cable and boom it's opened!!!
hope it helps.but I love this little machine.and I like very much your farm.good job!cheers!!!
I had a 2012 kabota 900 R T V on my farm it was a work horse it was a disel one of the best purchases I made. It not built for speed 25 mph up hill or down hill. Made for hauling or pulling, I loved it!
As a Kubota tech, if I may offer a suggestion, remove the skid plates under your RTV and pressure wash as best as you can. Farming, especially cattle farming, causes a lot of dirt and mud build up and all of your cables run under there and they will seize. It's not a fun job to repair. Didn't know if your dealer told you so just passing that along. Awesome overview and hope it continues to meet your needs!
hope Kubota redesigns this, I shouldn't have to do that
Great review of a good machine, I hope it continues to serve you well.
hey man glad to see that you finally got some cows! haven't been able to comment in awhile because my account was screwed up! been around since the pre $100 truck days! keep up the good work much love from cleveland
I think you talked me into one, when I'm ready to get one, thank you
just found your channel and love it. "load up" and I thought my dog was the only one that knows that command! Small world.
We bought one of these back in 2015 or so. It’s been great but they’ve definitely made some good changes to them in the past five years!
Lol...the cow at the beginning was not expected! Caught me off guard...still laughing. Great review, thanks for going over the the RTV.
Thought that might be kinda fun! Wakes ya up in the morning the ol country way!
Great review. I'm mobility limited and the guy that owns the 10 acres I rent had an RTV500 that I decided to purchase from him so I can get around easily. Since I wanted it to make maintaining the property easier, he was inclined to cut me a good deal on it, since he still owns the land and I'm willing to keep his investment secure. Being in FL, our ground gets really squishy-swampy, so it's hard for me to maintain my footing, but my little 500 zips me around like a champ. I ran across your video because now I have more family living with me, and as you said, that extra bench in the back suddenly becomes important, but I don't want to lose my cargo space. Thanks for taking the time to go over your thoughts on the rig. It has given me plenty of things to consider in making my upgrade decision.
Thanks for the down to earth review , been looking to get one to same some on the expensive work trucks. You're answered some questions that I've had. Good video.
Good Morning, Josh!
After your first video on the Kubota, I went to my dealer and bought one. Traded off a Kawasaki that I bought used. He gave me more than I paid for it, so I was happy with the deal. Do agree with this video that it is an all around great vehicle. It does seem a little under powered, but I'm not into racing. Do like my winch, however. I am surprised that the first addition of accessaries did not include a fire extinguisher! Mine went on the center post behind the driver's seat. Never noticed the hour meter on the dash. Thanks for the update!
Cool...yeah a fire extinguisher might be a good addition for sure...for all the machines on the farm!
I've been using a rental unit just like this one to haul massive quantities of firewood. Absolutely a beast. I love it.
Thank you for the drone footage at the end with the bluegrass music. I literally zoned out watching and listening...HAHAHA! You might be on to something! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I’m glad they moved the radiator to the front of the machine, ours is a few years older and the radiator is under the seat, it’s hard to blow it out and it will run hot when we are working it hard.
the bed has a lock/float setting just in case you didn't know.
Might be why it is tilting on you.
I had mine for a few months before I realized you can lock it on the control lever.
My God, Josh! You did a better "walk around" than a car salesman! 'Keep the cattle, and your honesty, though.
Thanks Bill...I've sold a few cars in my day for sure
6’5” Dang! You are a big dude alright. That’s a good size machine. Great review.
Sometimes I regret my RZR purchase just for yard works use. I have to drag a trailer around to have any practical yard use.
When climbing a hill try taking your foot off the accelerator slightly as the speed starts to reduce. Instinct is to floor it but by easing back slightly it gives more hydraulic flow to the drive motors and you gain a bit more speed.
I rate the kubota as a work horse and find the traction and hill decent superb. I think it trumps most rtvs in terms of the build but you do need to give a bit of thought to how you drive it, off road you can't just floor it in high 4 wheel drive and expect to power up anything, however low 4wd and it will climb and climb.
Great music, my Dad had a bluegrass band all my life. He played by ear and won many fiddling contest 👍
Great video, i plan on buying one before the snow flies, i was thinking about a Kawasaki or kubota, i have a kubota tractor, so i know they make great equipment, again i thank you for the video , saved me alot of research on this unit.
Great Vid Josh, I got a Kubota zero turn mower and love their products!!!
You did such an excellent job of describing this Kubota!
This video was 10,000 times more helpful than spending an hour and a showroom talking to a Salesman, not only are most of them not that knowledgeable about what they're selling, but good luck trying to get them to sell you anything that's not already on the showroom floor
Your tires look like whats called "HDAP" ( Heavy Duty All Purpose) vs the R4 industrial.. Good review, thanks for posting!
That is a really cool machine, the full bed to 4 seat conversion seems really useful.
Thanks for the great video. I am in the process of comparing the RTV units. Your video was perfect for my viewing. Thanks
If you're looking for an RTV the X1140 is where it's at unless you're looking for a cab model
Josh, nice job on the Kubota review. It would be interesting to see how the dump bed functions. Otherwise, you aced it.
I have another vid that shows it working...you are right...I was fighting the sunshine and totally forgot to show the bed at work and mention the top speeds 15-17 mph in low 25-28mph in high range
Great review! We’re getting into hobby farming and thinking of getting one of these as a complement to our compact tractor.
I think I’ve heard you say that another thing you don’t like is that the receiver hitch in the rear doesn’t come back far enough. Probably easily fixed with a hitch extension, but still one more thing to buy.
Hey there Stoney Ridge Farm👋 Great review video. #LifeOnTheFarm. Just wanted to slide through and show some more love to my new family.💙💯👍
We rented 2 of those at work and they were both great! One was the older 3 speed and it did go 7-8mph faster than the newer 2 speed one. That is my biggest complaint, our Gators are so much faster than the 2 speed one. I will say the Kubotas ride much nicer than the Gators do
Great stuff Josh! You are a Good Man!
we have a Polaris ranger and everything is great except the tailgate it's one-hand open but it gets jammed very easy and then takes two to open
We have a Polaris Ranger too but we can’t drive it through mud
Well done review. Two things on wish list...little firmer suspension and hydraulic bed dump while in extended configuration. I really need to find a quality affordable roof too.
Thanks for the detailed video. im happy about the Kubota RTV. its a great workhorse. watching you from Nairobi Kenya..
Josh, a nice comprehensive overview of your Kubota. That cow either didn't like the cat or was just curious. Enjoyed this video.
kubota diesel rtvs uses same oil filters, feul filters as the kubota tractors uses wich it makes the life alot easyier because other brands you have to use differenerent filters and fluids wich makles it hard
I work in a cemetery as a mechanic and we've been replacing our Cushman trucksters with the kubota x900s I can definitely say they're a good machine, definitely superior to the cushmans, especially when it comes to maintenance, the cushmans only get a plus when it comes to replacing the heater core or blower motor.
Drill a hole in both handles at the bottom run a cable from one handle to the other with no slack so that you can pull the center of the cable and release both handles at the same time
Yeah what you said. Surprised Josh hadn't already done that. It was obvious. Old jerryrigger just sayin.
The farm looks great with the cows great addition 👍🐄🐄🤠
Hey Josh, great video. You didn't show if the tailgate can be lowered all the way, but if it can I wonder if you could make it a 6 people hauler by adding another rear seat assembly to the bed. It sure looks like it would fit from the video. Of course when you get popcorn running (soon I hope) I'm sure you will be using popcorn to tour your estate:)
My dad just purchased a Polaris ranger 1000 crew love it it’s been a good tool we had a 2003 Polaris ranger that lasted along time
Have one of these at work and as he says want to go tear in the field of through the woods get the polaris want to load it up to the roof with logs and chug your way out take the kubota. And as your climbing a hill gently let of the throttle and it seems to change down a gear and pick up power
I have a RTV 900. I love it. Use it all the time. Very easy on fuel.
It looks like a very capable vehicle for around the farm. When you are using the back seats you are less likely to need much bed space.
yeah they are accully plus you can mount a 3 point hitch kits on them and front hitch for compact tractor attachments wich is slick and smart set up
I also removed that bar and door on my 850 Sidekick. I totally agree with your review. Wish we would have bought the four seater version.
did you have to cut it off, or does unbolt. looking at buying one
Brian Bailey -it unbolts. Super easy.
Brian Bailey -we have a couple videos on our channel
Thank you so much for the Excellent Review. Great job 👏
That is so cool Josh ....thanks for showing your happiness...
Great video ! the rear seats are a great idea! thank you!
To make it single hand open for the tailgate, you could always install a ute (truck) tailgate latch and have it connect to the two latches via spring loaded wire. Then would only need one hand to open it..
Thanks for the informative video. It was very helpful!
Just ordered my 2021 RTV x1140, can't wait. for our ranch in N ID. Create review, thanks
Great informative video & love your personality!
Smart RTV design and good reviews.
I have the RTV 900. I have the very same likes and dislikes. I added mirrors and a light on the rear. I mounted it high above my head. Lights up the bed and I can back up. I also added a wench on the front and an inverter to plug in 110 power tools or charge my phone. I mounted it above my head on the bottom of the roof. Never gets wet.
You placed a 'wench' on the front of your RTV? Was she scared? I don't think I'd tell my wife about that!
Suggestion for opening the tailgate with one hand. A couple of cable clamps and 5' of cable. Connect both pulls with the cable, and then you can open the tailgate by pulling down, or up on the center of the cable...
I like that you give your honest opinion.
Love how you keep adding to the farm!
If you build it .....cows will come!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Haha love it and soo true!
We are slowly adding more critters to our place as well, did a bunch of fencing this summer but still need to do lots more.
Takes lots of time and money for sure....some folks just don't understand it. This aint a 9-5 deal it's an investment and a lifestyle
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Amen! For us it's an investment in our land but also our future, we have 7 children and I honestly can not think of a more worthwhile endeavor then raising them out on the land and working together on it.
Take a drink every time he says "this machine". J/k, great video, keep it up!
That was a fantastic review! Thank you
Nice machine Josh thanks for sharing this video buddy
Good vid Josh - nice rundown.
I have an RTV 1100. If you plow any snow with it make sure you put cardboard in the grill. Particularly if it is a fine powder snow. You will fill the cold air intake with snow and the filter will turn into a block of ice. Power will be reduced to nothing and you’ll be trailing a nice cloud of black smoke. You’ll look like a WWII plane going down in flames! Don’t ask me how I know..... other than that they are great machines. Haven’t had any problems with it in 5 years. I picked up my L4340 tractor from Rocky Mount Tractors. Good people!
Good tip...we don't get much snow down here so I use the tractor if needed
Thumbs up on your video, don't know how I got here but I like it.
Great explanation and I am more convinced to get one.
Some where on there is wiring for a back up beeper for use on construction sites per OSHA. I have a Polaris 6x6 its an 04 and it had it so I am sure yours does. I wired in a led back up light to these wires. Super simple because the wiring is already there and connected to only source power when placed in reverse.
My question is ....how much would it have costed Kubota to make reverse lights part of the stock configuration...probably 50 cents per machine. They should already be there in my opinion..not knocking kubota...but as good as the nicely molded headlights are....kinda skimped on the tail light setup in my opinion. Maybe there's a reason...but backing at night with this machine leaves ya "in the dark"...so lookout fence posts!
Kubota is an amazing brand as long as you have a good dealer close by.we all know that to make a great brand is to have a good dealership close by.
I would use the passenger storage compartment as an ice chest. Lol God bless
A after market backup light kit should be easy to install.
I had a 2006 and that thing was a piece of crap, at least the transmission was. Loved the dump box. Hopefully they fixed them.
Great info!
We have the rtv 900 and love ours, wouldn't want any other machine, like you said it's a workhorse!
Great review , thanks. Blessings
hi there i know exactly what you mean on the tail gate latches . drill a small whole in each lever close to the ends. get 2 cotter pins and a small chain put the chain on the pins than the pins threw the wholes spread the pins . now the two sides are hooked together with the small chain . you can pull the chain from any spot and it opens both latches with 1 pull . also was alcohol involved in putting those horn on . john
lol nope just good ol fun no alcohol bhahaha
Awesome review. Thanks!
Sounds like backup lights, a rear bumper and a bed lock with a little more spunk from the engine and this would be just about perfect for you. Their maybe fixes for all of that.
Great video, an idea about your tailgate.Take it to a metal fabricator and get him to make a handle in the middle with a metal rod to each side of you tailgate attach to the handles. This is what I would do.
Hey Josh,
Could you tie some paracord to both of the 2 tailgate handles and then be able to pull the cord to open the gate with 1 hand.
Keep up the good work.
Love it! I need one at the Cabin
Josh I'd love to see you test the bobcat 5600 with front loader. Love your videos.
Nice unit. I love Kubota
really good review bud
We took a piece of vinyl coated cable ,and ran it across the back ,& clamped it to both tailgate latches !
i think the cat was like er no way not gonna mess with bessy thanks for the review
Put on a heavy garage door handle and run cables to latches. Turn handle, latches release. Just realized the catches are not on springs. Needs more mods than I thought.
The bed rails are how tall, why not just lift cargo over the gate?
@@TheJustinbingham Thats what I was thinking when he said that.
Good afternoon. Light bar front and back like you said. I've never seen a Morgan or any workhouse breed win the Kentucky Derby nor have I seen a Thoroughbred pull several thousand pounds either. Everyone has a manufacturer that they like/dislike and we all stay with how gives us service after sale.
mrs stoney ridge was having the time of her life driving that UTV around the farm....
Looks like a pretty good machine.
Might should get that bed checked out. I haven’t had mine do that at all and I have one just like yours
Bye passing cylinder or valve. No it shouldn't drift. To test the cylinder remove and cap the hoses then put a load on the bed. If it moves rebuild the cylinder. If it's the valve it's a little harder. But it could just be air in the system. Oil with air will look milky.
@@steveholton4130 still shouldn't drift. There has to be oil moving. It could be as simple as the valve out of adjustment or a weak return spring . As I don't work on these I can't say witch.
You should take a look at the Polaris Pro XD - Kubota Diesel engine with the Polaris CVT and suspension
