I was trying to purchase a Maybach 57 from MB of Plano a few years ago. It had suspension issues and ultimately, because of this and it’s inability to pass state inspection because of the struts (even though I was going to take it out-of-state), refused to sell it to me and sent it to auction. I bought a S65 instead…and promptly had to replace the ABC tandem pump. I think I’m better off!
The ABC tandem pump and the dynamic seat system pump. The AMG models use the hydraulic rather than the airmatic suspension. Together it was about $5k. Before buying the car, I verified the spark plugs and coil packs had been recently replaced; about $6-7k with labor at the dealer. Another big ticket item are the brake rotors. MB gets about $1,800 per rotor...just the rotor.

And here I thought going from a paltry stock 70A on my Defender to a 130A from a Discovery was a big jump 🤣
600, I - I can't even comprehend such a huge number pertaining to a fercrissakes ALTERNATOR. That's a alternator on steroids.
The old adage "if you can't afford an expensive one, you can't afford a cheap one" still holds.
Dude spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars and makes much more through his content creation but can't even get his kid the 2 cup holder Graco seat? Damn.
Hey Hoovie, just wondering how the Maybach compares to the Phantom of the same era since you owned both of them now.
What's the biggest repair bill or issue/s u had on the s65? (Don't say none, all cars have a issue/s)
Great video. you've remind me of what someone once said❤❤️ Making money is an Action, keeping money is behavior, Growing money is Knowledge. I once attended seminar and ever since then i been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..
With inflation running at a four-decade high, a recession is now the most likely outcome of the economy. How can i grow my portfolio to outpace inflation and maintain a successful long-term strategy. I have been reading of investors making about $250k in the current crashing market, i need ideas on how to achieve similar profits
The market is volatile at this time , hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the share/ETF you focus on.
I'm a living testimony of expert Nicholas Carmen Alise 💯 she's really a gööd brøker and a mother too with good heart😁
Wow, I'm just shocked you mentioned Expert Alise thought am the only one trading with her
I'm from Los Angeles I and two other of my friends tried her immediately we testified
Her performing wonder.
That V12 sound is AMAZING
I like the sound of a v12 starting. It sounds like an engine with no compression that isn't going to start, and all of a sudden or roars to life!
Sounds almost like a motorcycle. Beautiful!
Sound like a wild animal
Hoovies daughter 30 years later - Buying the cheapest spaceship in the USA.
I love the car seat in the Maybach. My kids would have me opening and closing the shade constantly.
Yeah, maybe you could set up their easy Bake over back there.
The Maybach was big, brash and tacky with a grille that could have come from a 90s Hyundai. It cost an absolute fortune to buy and run. A Rolls Royce is a lesson in how to do super luxury properly.
Welcome back hooptie king,
it was long due but you finally arrived
I love the 'Visit Workshop' light on the dash....regular cars go to garages to be repaired.....Maybachs go to "workshops".
Glad to see Wizard enjoying himself in the back of that luxury sedan, he’s a veteran so he definitely deserves that and more, thank you for your service Wizard…
is it from pity or respect? bcos id feel used like my friends in the military tell me. i feel pity they had to fight for some democrat liar. and those people do deserve it all, considering they were used for power flex of leaders. glad he has his own business taking advantage of what capitalism has to offer, instead of capitalism using him for what he has to offer, but it comes at a cost of people who dont even care, they just want to live a quiet life
@@MrPaxio what the fuck are you on about
@@MrPaxio congratulations, I am amazed by how many dumb things you were able to put in one comment!
@@MrPaxio not at all, I’m just respecting individuals that fought for our freedoms, you are very disrespectful to all of the fallen veterans that passed away for your freedoms and current vets like Wizard, think about that…
Who would let a dirty greasy mechanic sit in the back of their limo? Seriously.
Be careful with not using Jackstands, lots of people die from not using them. As smart as y’all are you should know better. I am a 41 yr old mechanic a dad and a granddad. I used to not care about jackstands but I have a family now and I want to be here for them and help them if they need anything. I love to see my both my sons get married and watch my beautiful granddaughter grow up. I know you don’t want some other man rising your kids because you didn’t put a jackstand under your car.
Cool guy...chaufering the mechanic in a ride like is a once in a lifetime experience.
I bet the belt is wider because of the high power alternator. So other accessories like the water pump might be the same but with a swapped pulley for the wider belt. So if your pulley doesn't break on one of those components you might be able to get a standard s class part and swap pullies.
You know it is going to be the special alternator, this is Hoovie.
uniformed clown
Why is your $1300 Ferrari bill _less_ expensive than my nearly $1600 Mazda bill?
And no, my Mazda did not require extensive repairs of any kind. Thinking I got ripped off by the Mazda dealer. Well, there you go. Want to save some money and have a car with some performance under the hood, don't buy a V6 Mazda... Get a Ferrari.
You're an excellent steward of remarkable machines, Tyler!
David is probably able to send his kids though school just off Hoovie income?
Not to mention his RUclips revenue
Hi from Denmark.I love your videos.
Please do an über episode with the Maybach. I think that could be fun.
The price of the alternator is the price of my car lmao
I just fixed my mb alternator for a 100$ REGULATOR, and the Regulator is what goes bad , it’s the BRUSHES!
One can not miss a Hoovie video. 😺 ❤
100 000 mile car 100 000 to buy it Now $100 000 to FIX it 💸🤑💰💸🤔😥🤣
It is German what do expect man 🤔reliability???? NO repairs???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm 20 seconds in this video and it's already weird. Love Wizard 😂😂😂
well, an alternator can be repaired , and with a bit of diy you can save on half those costs... command unit can be also switched out...
Wish we knew the history of this car. I bet the previous owner was an interesting person!
Hoovie talks about that in the first video. Some sort of business owner in Houston if I remember correctly.
You can hear the fear in Tyler’s voice during the inspection 😂😂😂
Well yeah they both went under a car with no jack stands…..
Kudos for flying a drone through the rear door openings 😂😂
Wizard: "we just need the extra 6 inches". Don't we all
Then Hoovie goes for a crotch shot of the Wizard...
This is crazy awesome! Can't believe this is 18 years old.
Holy moly! Now the Wizard is acting as goofy as Tyler..Do this guys ever stop.? There is plenty of interesting car stuff happening on the channel without the silly over the top emoting and ridiculous noises.Holy moly, take us back to the cars please. Holy moly ! Holy moly !
a bearing replacement in an alternator, any alternator, is a relatively simple and inexpensive job. i wouldn't be worried, unless i was planning on taking it to a mercedes service center. now, THAT would worry me. :)
Have you seen the water cooled one?
@@daleolson3506 haha....no i haven't. but i suppose one could design it such that the bearings are neigh impossible to replace.
I’m convinced that automakers simply don’t care about the repair costs for cars like this. The first owner won’t flinch and the second owner doesn’t matter.
Love the 456! Wizard needs a bigger lift for the Maybach and the bus/rv. What a barge. Love this content on it.
No jack stands @ 13:45 !?!? 😨You realize those jacks ALL tell you to support the car on jacks and not to get underneath the car if it's only supported by the hydraulics?
J
I’d do it and keep it in the garage .. like you said it’s still ahead of or at it’s current time with features. Definitely a unique vehicle
Beautiful car, but it's definitely a very rich man's car when it comes to buying it new and repairs. A new roof cost more than a nicely equipped Toyota Highlander.
You two pals giggling during the drive - great fun. Thanks for sharing this. 😊
As an engineer, when your job is to engineer luxury, instead of reliability, the goal as funded, is not to be concerned about longevity.
Happy Veterans Day to the Car Wizard.. you made me laugh when you said I have no problem taking your money! That's hilarious. Enjoy this day that recognizes your service to our country!
Is there a hyphen anywhere in sycophant?
You can afford the repairs, if not sell a car from your collection. You’ll be fine. I looked up the sale of the Maybach you paid $44K, an outstanding buy since most are over $100K.
try 800k
@@natesmith1461 it’s a 2004 Maybach.
Thank you for your service Wizard.
Audi rs6 v10 has water cooled alternator too, crazy Price
Hey Wizard, from one Veteran to another Happy Veteran's s Day brother. Great channels the both of you have, thank you and keep'em coming.
Why dont you go to his channel and leave your love notes there?
Wizard have his own channel? Will check it out
Hoovie will have to cough up lots a CA$H to fix his fancy pants limo. You gotta pay your way to ride in style and the lap of luxury.
I’m so blown away with some of the cars you’ve shown. Thanks for sharing all these interesting rides.
I've wanted to do electrochromatic tint for a long time. It's still crazy expensive. I wonder how much it was in 2004.
The Wizard is always really funny on Hoovies' videos! As a Brit, thank you Wizard for your service.
Adjusted for inflation the car was $788,808 in todays money!
I bet the wiring skematics for that car are very user friendly 😎
Volumes 1-23......
I worked at a glass laminating shop that made windows like that roof for aircraft. The film is around a hundred bucks a square foot.. The specialty glass is close to the film price so materials alone are verrrrrrry expensive.
Can you imagine using this as an Uber car?
I was. Then I thought about the fuel prices eating all the fee and then some.
You would have to charge three or four digits just to pay for the gas.
Too old, Uber wouldn’t allow it unfortunately.
And THAT is why you don`t buy a 20 year old luxury car for the price of a Camry....
another great video from Hoovie. keep it up
Hoovie: making all the car mistakes so we dont have to
I think a great video would be to do a couple Uber drive with this thing and get riders reactions.
Maybe ten years ago when RUclips was new and exciting. That is about as exciting as watching a cat follow a laster pointer beam across the wall. Been there.. done that.
Uber actually wouldn’t allow you to drive with this car, it’s far too old.
Uber us only cars less than 10 years old
I mean, you bought a Maybach. What did you expect, Honda repair costs?
I bet it would look so much better with the updated wheels on it.
I already assumed this would be the outcome. 20 year old. Mercedes. With 100k! Yeah.. these are going to be a Shit Show. Maybe 10 grand.. and run with the issues til you Dump it. But.. 40 thousand?!?
Lmfao
I love the new Maybach 62. Best car in the fleet
With the curtains in the back, it reminds me of a Hearse. Otherwise nice car!!
This episode was ludicrously funny. Between Hoovie communicating via intercom while chauffeuring Wizard in a half million dollar limo, to the two of them rolling around on creepers and then the Wizard leaping in front of the Ferrari to pay the bill, this is like a season 5-6 of a sitcom where the characters keep getting incrementally more zany.
It sounded like the massage had a happy ending!😂😉
Almost 20 years later and this car is still EPIC!
Epic depreciated piece of junk that looks like a Hearst.
Yeah, shoulda bought a mini-van, instead. 😁
Buying a car is taking a financial hit. Buy new; take the hit upfront. Buy used, take the hit on the backend in repairs and maintenance. You’re going to take a financial hit, it’s the nature of the beast.
Every Maybach I have ever been in....and that has been 4....there is always the Maybach FLY. 5:47
It never fails. The Maybach attracts flies like no other car. Not sure why....maybe the leather.....or the realization that the cost of repairing these cars makes one soil their britches....hence flies.
Something happened to Hoof. He's not as entertained as he used to be. Sold his soul.
lol, all i gotta say is you got a GOOD deal deal on some of these parts. Maybe mercedes is making more of these parts but last time we quoted an alternator for a maybach 57 it was approx $20,000 and the last COMAND unit we quoted ended up coming in at $40,000.....which is quite ridiculous to say the least. I've been "fortunate" enough to get to work on/drive a few 57's and just being in the car is an experience.
This once great channel has become a predictable 'yawn fest' ... 😴
Tyler could be buying in the UK at Silverstone Auctions😊
RUclips giveth Tyler $$ and WiZard taketh away 😊
