That's a nice old bike Trav, those leading link forks really stand out to make the bike look special. Looking forward to seeing it up & running. 1968 wow, nearly as old as me! According to the net, the 1968 bike is the rarest of all CT90's so a resto will be well worth it.
I wouldn’t scotchbrite it that would just put scratches in the paint. Scrub it with nylon type brushes and a CT18 or truck wash type of detergent and plenty of elbow grease as you don’t want to seal the dirt in. Penetrol is great have been using it for years and will get the look your after.
Where did you get your wheels? I have a ct200 frame with trashed wheels and also an s65, I'd love to get them going my only roadblock has been finding suitable second hand wheels
