Ian Kirkpatrick is one of the best producers out there. Yes, because he's talented, but also because he's so forward with his information. Thank you, Sol State and Ian.
I love Ian's streams but I also love the way you manage to "condense" it. There are really no excuses to inhale this insane knowledge and tips now - Thank you so much!
@@levondarratt787 "plat" is Platinum, like hits that are created by Ian Kirkpatrick that are certified Platinum and Gold all around the world. And I wouldn't consider him a newb since he's been working at this since 2005 and was good enough to write, produce, and mix for Disney and their label since 2008 and since then has worked with almost every major label and several a-list artists. This is all from one quick Google search so if you gonna insult somebody, it's better if it's actually true.
One of the best thing about Ian Kirkpatrick is that he's not only the king of songwriting/producing, but also the king of sharing. And this is shocking great! thanks!!!!!
The first time I heard this song on headphones my mind was blown. So much detail. It's cool to see what went down behind the scenes after being a fan of this song for a while now!
That is truly amazing, pretty please is one of my favorite songs from dua lipa and I would've never thought that a video like this would come out. Ian's working with big stars like dua lipa and he still seems to be very down to earth, working with him must be really enjoyable and fun! :D
3:50 Good point about the bouncing down and committing. Obviously it needs to be decent, but yeah. You get this kind of rough feel that you can then treat like a sample you got somewhere else, if you know what I mean. Good thing to do, but takes confidence.
man when @ian kirkpatrick talks about how the subconscious will notice, that is such a gem. I went back and worked on a bunch of my tracks and added things that seem almost inaudible (which I stopped doing a long time ago since I thought it didn't make a difference) and wow it makes SUCH a difference. The feeling of progression vs a song feel a bit stale , truly grateful for this video, the editing and Ian's knowledge
I used to listen to this on speaker in my living room, and one day waiting in the car for my girlfriend getting groceries, I listened to the entire album and noticed all the frigging details. It's an incredible journey
The moment I heard this song for the first time I absolutely fell in love with how it was arranged produced. I LOVED the idea of slowing down before the chorus.absolutely brilliant. Thanks for this video. That was soooo fricking interesting
The tempo edit is such a small thing but does biig things. Creates such a subtle but yet, in the context, a LOT of suspense before the energy is again released in the chorus. So great!
Thanks for posting! If you have a minute, I posted a cover of Noah Cyrus. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you would take a listen. It's on my page. Hope you like it!
Dude, sick tempo modulation. fuck yeah. SICK LAYERING. LOVE THIS. tryina teach my baby to not be affraid of this layering. Overproduction LEGIT. but sometimes you GOTTA LAYER IT UP. thank you! haha

He pretty much flipped Too Hot by Kool In The Gang and modernized it a bit. I don't really get the Nate Smith correlation, Ians beat is pretty straight forward just like the Kool and the Gang track I mentioned. ruclips.net/video/bBlRuGFT7Ew/видео.html

ditto, thank you soooooo much. so concise and on point
5400 likes versus 24 dislikes is a huge ratio.... this is a great song. Dua's whole album "Future Nostalgia" is just perfect, not a weak song...

So just saying, from a pure objective point of view, that Ian does 99% of the track, Dua, barely 1%
I think a good vocal can make a great song WAY more than 1% better, but yeah Ian's job is the producer.

so much creativity in one track is unbelievable!!!! This is Art at the highest Level!
My favourite track on the record - it has so many elements in it!...
I thought the cow bell was playing two step but instead he just off-beat it and it gives you the illusion that it was two step.
FL studio has its own LFO Tool
It's called Fruity Love Philter
omg i always thought that new rules chop in the bridge was dua saying "shivers down my spine" but repurposed

Jeez and to think producers use to only have 16 track consoles to work with.
