Wow, never thought you could underrate an album as much as you just underrated First Impressions. The Strokes needed that change in their third album, because it just started to sound same/same. Impressions was a breath of fresh air and had some incredible catchy tunes on it. Some of their best stuff easily.
The Strokes is the best modern band. They are so underrated and every album has something good to say about them. I love these guys so much. They do not get the appreciation they deserve
This just makes me realise how much I love almost ALL of their songs. For me, it's more a list of songs I instantly liked, vs slow burners, and still to this day, I develop a 'new fave' track. And this is why I love The Strokes.

Modern girls is much better than he made it out to be, the raspy almost radio quality of both Julian an Regina’s voices makes everything come together so well. Call it fate, call it karma is one of my favorite songs off the album and I really admire the strokes for taking such a risk with the new sound.
I get the feeling the first album had such a profound effect on Anthony that he can't let go of his notalgic narrow tastes for that style of strokes song. I mean it is what he prefers, but when I see songs like you only live once, which granted comes against another one of the strokes best work, and under cover of darkness not making it past the first round, I just am shocked. I know they both have many different elements than the traditional material but boy are these wonderful songs. The most disappointing part was seeing Reptilla (honestly might be my favorite strokes song if it isn't one of their songs form their debut) and last nite fall to under control which then fell to is this is. Both is this it and under control are great songs but are those really what you're putting on for your friends when introducing them to the strokes? Your favorite strokes song?
