Tomlin is one of the BEST harmonica instructors on the internet! Excellent instruction with perfect tab representation! Thank you Tomlin for another fun and inspiring harmonica tutorial, YOU ARE the MAN!!!!
Tomlin, you rock brother. I stumbled upon Huey doing this on that talk show (it was Rachel Ray's cooking show) and I wanted to learn how to play it. I tried a little bit, got frustrated and stop trying to learn it. Then I came across your RUclips channel and saw your instructional on it and I was blown away. You are a tremendous player and even a better teacher. Amazing, I never thought I'd see it being taught because its such an obscure vamp. But here's the thing, it makes the perfect thing to play when someone says "oh, you play harmonica?, well play me something." Most people play happy birthday, oh susanna or something equally lame. I am obsessed with trying to learn this now, got most of the first lick down. More difficult than one would think. A lot of nuance and the quick jumping in an out of a that bend in the triplet, which is of course part of what makes it so cool. And is also inspiration for me to step up my game, Thank you man. Thumbed up and subscribed.
After 4 years of daily playing it is insane that I still have such a difficult time playing basic riffs. I think I'll practice this one for the next month or so.
U need to Write The Tabs by hand, like I & many do; Print off any avail on a web site. then, play those riffs over & over & over for months. They will become "automatic memory" after 6 mos. Stay the Course mate! Jesse, Orlando, FL
Hey Tomlin!!! You're an awesome teacher I've learnt a lot with You. It Would be great if you could do some kind of Juke Joint rhythmic style or even jazzy trumpet style licks 😁
Tomlin... great tune and great lesson. I just want to know... how the heck do you breathe while playing this tune??? By the time I get to Lick 4 I am so full of air I have to pause just to get it out! Any suggestions? Thanks.
Yes I would say this is Intermediate. If you click on the link in the description underneath it will take you to my site where you will see what level a lesson is listed as.
Nooooooo!! Amazing tune, and I cannot play that on my C harmonica :( I know what I will ask Santa now ;) Btw Tom, what key do you recommend to buy as a second harmonica (after C)? Is there an order to follow to better learn or should we buy according to what we wanna play?
This is late but for anyone who is still curious, the next best harp to buy for beginners is usually recommended to be an A harp or B flat harp. Tomlin also has a video on it, ruclips.net/video/LmBhTzo0kWA/видео.html

Hiya, I take micro-breaks in the spaces between runs to catch my breath. :-)
Tomlin, how what level would you rate this solo. I've just about got it down and I'm hoping it's intermediate.
