Love Huey's harp playing. He did a mean solo back when touring
We use this riff scheme as a way to get the crowd going when we start our 2nd set. It’s an easy progression and always gets the people moving.

First time I saw Huey was with Clover, not sure what yr. Still an amazing artist and personable guy!
First concert I ever saw was Huey Lewis was in 1991. It was the night Bill Graham from Bill Graham Presents died. He had left the concert in a helicopter and it crashed in Vallejo. In the weirdest irony, the helicopter crash caused the power to go out at the venue in Concord for about half an hour. Look it up. Very crazy stuff. I was only 10 at the time so I didn’t appreciate the irony of it all. It was October 25, 1991 if anyone is curious.

I saw this clip from Rachel Ray's show several years ago... loved that harp tune Huey played and I had to learn it !
A few years later, I found out that this "tune" comes from his song "Going Down Slow", just in a different key and with lyrics too !
Huey seems to love the D harp best !

I just ordered 2 of these the other day.... cost more than my first car.
Because I play harmonicas too, and can figure the song key with the help of my ears and harps... then you have to determine the position that the harp is being played in... the song here is in A, and Huey is using a D harp in 2nd position.
Took me FORever to figure out what Positions was what if you were playing in a certain key.. I have terrible ears too..
If he's playing the model they say that's £250 (POUNDS) per. They've got a model for £90. I might try that first.

I learned it too and regularly play it. it’s great fun! I don’t often use a D harp though, I usually play it on a Bb. I found out that it is a mixture of two harp parts from two of his earlier songs, it works really well! Cheers :)

@@johncoker13most play along are in G . Which on a blues Harp in second position is to 2 draw on a C harmonic
But best sounding blues harp is A Bb and G and don’t forget the C

Unfortunately not. He stopped a few years ago due to health reasons.

@@gewglesux I wish I could get my hands on an A or D Dannecker. I’ve heard some folks talk about them, but haven’t seen on myself. I’m a harp customizer, so I would love to take a closer look at his reedwork to see what’s makes them special.
@@norfolknwhey4787 Well to be honest I bought a few of them- i'm not even worthy of such Harps. They heavy works of art if you ask me.I do not know much customizing HarpsI wouldn't know the reed work of one of his Harps vs the reedwork onna Hohner..I love the Harps. they're just so heavy.
Are they considered special? I've played them on my level and probably do not do them any kind of justice.I do know that they were expensive and took a long time to receive. I really wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
@@gewglesux they’re very well built and he only made so many each year. His harps were in high demand because at the time there weren’t many custom options. Nowadays there are dozens of great customizers, so the market is a bit different now. I’d love to get my hands on one in the key of A or D. If you ever need them worked on, I would be happy to help 👍🏼
Did Anthony Dannecker go out of business?
I wish he'd have given props to Chris Hayes though. Chris wrote the music for that song.
