- Here's a recap of all the songs that competed for Croatia in Eurovision Song Contest from 1993 to 2024. Please, enjoy!
Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 29 times since making its debut at the 1993 contest. The country's entry has, since 1993 and excluding from 2012 to 2018, been selected at the Dora festival, an event organised by the national public broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT). Croatia's best result in the contest is a second-place finish in 2024.
Croatia achieved six top ten results in seven years, with Magazin and Lidija finishing sixth (1995), Maja Blagdan fourth (1996), former Magazin member Danijela Martinović fifth (1998), Doris Dragović fourth (1999), Goran Karan ninth (2000) and Vanna tenth (2001). A period of 23 years without a top ten result followed, which was interrupted by Baby Lasagna's 2024 result.
Croatia failed to reach the final for four years in succession (2010-2013), before choosing to not participate in 2014 and 2015. Croatia returned and reached the final in both 2016 and 2017, before again failing to reach the final for four consecutive contests (2018-2022). This non-qualification streak was broken in 2023, when Croatia advanced to the final. In total, Croatia has failed to reach the final in 9 of the last 14 contests it has entered.

Three things that were not fair:
- Doris not winning in 1999
- Albina not qualifying in 2021
- Baby Lasagna not winning in 2024 (this year)
Nina Kraljić should have won at Dora, not Albina. Maybe then we would be more successful.
@@theoriginalLP da Nina bi bila uspješnija ali je imala loš nastup na dori zato nije pobjedila.Također bi više uspjeha imali da je godinu prije pobjedio Marko Bošnjak a ne Mia a tek par godina prije smo na dori imali izbor između Nizetića,Indire i Lorene i sve te 3 pjesme bi bile zapažene a pobjedio je daleko najlošiji izbor Roko. To su bile baš loše odluke i publike i žirija jer su favorizirali određene izvođače.
Ι'm Greek and I still can't get over the fact that Baby Lasagna didn't win for 44 points, just because some juries gave no points at all... He totally deserved it.
I'm Greek too and I agree, the Jury vote was quite boring and predictable, if they hadn't already given 12 to Switzerland and they had no points you knew for sure that the 12 goes to them... I agree it was a great song and definitely a top 10 or even top 5 but Croatia got robbed. Still better than Israel getting it with that song (I already forgot how it goes).

@laurakopunovic6935 Read your own comment again and then you know why juries were installed in the first place. It is not about being balkans or neighboring countries, but about music and taste. And every country has something to do with any other country in the contest. We vote for each other. That is what the contest is about.
@@nebelland8355 maybe I'm mistaken but Greece hasn't really given any points to Croatia for at least 10 years and our votes are quite scattered around both western and eastern europe as far as I am aware.
Also many Balkan countries don't even play or qualify that often, like Albania and North Macedonia is like disqualified for the finals half of the time, Bulgaria just doesn't show up for some years and Turkey straigh up left since 2013.
I love how decades later, the Eurovision fun community agrees that Doris Dragović with her unforgettable Marija Magdalena should have won 1999.!
I don't (my winner was Slovenia) but it's a very great song.

Moreover, the dedication has only been used when the EBU calculated the average score of the last five years as the qualifying method for the next edition. They didn’t use the deduction in the final result of 1999

Croatia was absolutely robbed. I don't think Switzerland was an unworthy winner but it was so clear that Croatia was everyone's favorite. They need to change the jury system or something.

Mama ŠČ! was hilarious but also very brave considering the burning political context. Back in 2023, I remember this song making a fuss in ukrainian social media, everyone saying how based the croatians were. And Baby Lasagna has my first ever Eurovision vote, before that I just silently followed the contest for more than 10 years. It would be awesome to see the Eurovision going to Croatia someday.

Croatia had a lot of very good songs. For me really unforgotten are Ostani, Marija Magdalena, Moja Stikla, Vukovi umiro sami and my all time favourites Neka mi ne svane and Mizerja. Still hear them today 👍🏻🫶🏼

My opinions about the country in eurovision: I was honestly fine with both Switzerland and Croatia winning, whichever one of them won I would be happy, Because nemo is really a vocal and opera powerhouse and I also agree with everyone who says that baby lasagna is an incredible and amazing rocker, His song was sensational and contrary to what many think, it is not a fake copy of käärijä, both have similar song styles, but both are equally amazing, even though baby lasagna isn't my choice of winner either, I would be happy with either of them winning, even though neither of them would be my choice of winner, Croatia, like Switzerland, has never been a country that I've really liked the music choices over the years in eurovision, I liked very few of the songs they brought to the festival over the years, but just like nemo, 2024 is one of the exceptions, i love the Croatian cultural vibes mixed with a great rock song from Baby lasagna music, so even though I think 2nd place is also good, I completely understand those who say that Croatia should have won, because the song is really good and really catchy, so congratulations Croatia for 2nd place, and meow cat your really meowed back 😼.

My favorite Croatian ESC entries are easily 1999 and 2000. Honorable mention to 2007, it’s highly underrated by the wider community, in my opinion.
