Found dime metal detecting in the water, after taking 4 to 5 shovels to the shore, I found it and I looked at it and I knew that it was old for one then I saw dime like at the bottom of it, so I went home and looked at it again an saw a lady sitting on something on the front, flipped it over an it had half written on the top, I didn't even know that they even made a half dime ,flipped it back and it had 1878 on the front pretty shore because it's the oldest coin I've found next to a 1883 o,silver Morgan head dollar both from in the water at a old beach. I would assume most wheat cents from eBay have been cherry picked. Ironically, especially the ones that go out of their way to label them as "unsearched". Also, you mention getting them for ~1.5 cents, yet I'm looking at auctions right now selling a single roll anywhere from $2.99 to $9.

It's tough to say, but I'd bet you're right in many cases. I buy mine from private sellers on craigslist and at garage/estate sales

Sum Dood he claims that he buys his rolls from private sellers on craigslist or estate sales garage sales ....they are probably the same people who try to sell them on eBay for more of an explanation see my comment in this thread. This is not against silver picker just trying to save some people cash from my own failures in buying.

@@davidirwin7253 I hunt garage sales (not necessarily for coins) every weekend, and the occasional estate sale. I have honestly never seen anyone selling any kind of collectible coins.

2 years late, but came across this video again by chance. I have only seen one local estate sale with coins, but there is a local private auction house that has decent lots of coins come up about once a month. I still haven't seen rolls of pennies, they were mostly easily recognizable individual us coins.

Nice!!!!! I had a '43 penny which looked copper. I did the magnet test, it was steel :(. However, you should do the magnet test on the '43/'44 and see if you have anything special.

Buys a CLEAR tube of pennies and never notices obvious gap until he films it. Sure, Ok. That means he never inspected them before purchase. Could have been 2 wheat enders with all zinc's. Not buying it. This guy is the WWE of coin RUclipsrs. Rob Finds Treasure is far superior.

    # 5:33 Don't "count" Canadian cents as losers. Canada ceased production of their cents in 2012. Any Canadian cent ("penny") found in US circulation can become worthwhile, as new collectors of Canadian and/or foreign coins will be looking for them to complete their collection(s).
