    Part of the problem is the notion "without the intervention of God", as if there is any human autonomy. We don't even provide our own next breath. Everything we see and have is provided on an ongoing basis by God. Whether we remain faithful or whether we take God's good gifts and go away to a far country to squander them on sin, God provided the gifts that we either use for his glory or abuse. As soon as I hear things like, "on your own" or "without God" or "in your own power", I know I'm listening to a debate tactic, not a serious, biblical discussion about what responsibilities God in his sovereignty chooses to place on man for his own salvation. Obviously only God can give salvation as a gift, and only because Jesus paid for it. Repenting does not secure anything for us. We can repent and cry all day, but it's God's compassion, love and mercy that recognizes our need and meets it.

      So Repentance is Foolish?

    • @EmWarEl
      @EmWarEl Год назад +2

      @@SavageMan2185 No, because it is the only basis upon which God has obligated Himself to gift us with salvation. We can't earn salvation by what we do or in any way obligate God to redeem us. But he can take an obligation upon Himself by declaring something to be so, because God cannot lie. Repenting doesn't "earn" anything. We are depending on God to do what He said He would do.

      So you believe that God has doomed some from the womb to suffer for all eternity in hell?

    • @EmWarEl
      @EmWarEl 3 месяца назад

      @@32Brandonp Absolutely not. God reveals himself to all people and makes a genuine offer of redemption to all people. That fact is the basis on which people are culpable for rejecting salvation.

      We agree then & aren’t a Calvinist as John Calvin described. Monergism is not written in the Bible. It’s another man-made label much like Calvinism.

    Why has God predestined most people to not believe the gospel and go the broad path to destruction? I hear this question all the time and it seems like a fair question. Does God make people who are born dead to Him, and make sure the gospel stays foolishness to them, so they go to hell?

    If what you say is true - what's the point of Discipleship?

      Great question. There is so much in scripture that this video ignores in order to teach a Calvinistic viewpoint. Paul tells us to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling." Phil 2:12 (for God works in us - v. 13)
      If God does it all, then we are saved by God without faith on our part. This contradicts so much of Paul's teaching. Yes, we are saved by grace - through faith! That is how we access God's grace according to Rom 5:2.
      When the Philippian jailer asked Paul what he must DO to be saved, Paul said to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 16:30-31 If Paul had been going to the Northwest Baptist church and learned from the Pastor in this video, he would have told the Philippian jailer that he couldn't DO anything to be saved. If he was going to be saved, God would do it.
      Can you imagine how devastating that answer would have been to the jailer?
      Fortunately Paul did not learn his theology from this Pastor. Rather, he learned it from Jesus Christ himself.
      God bless.

      @@thereturn2361 when the jailer professed faith in Jesus do you think he thanked himself for making the right choice, or did he thank God for gifting him saving faith? You’re describing a very unbiblical and extreme version of Calvinism sometimes called hyper Calvinism. The doctrines of grace are clearly taught all throughout scripture, God is 100% absolutely and completely sovereign over our salvation. So when someone professes that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, who do they thank? Not the person who shared the gospel, not themselves, etc…nothing but the sovereign election of God Almighty. Pride and arrogance causes many to believe that God needs their cooperation to save them but that’s not what scripture teaches. The elect are bought and paid for by the blood of Christ, before the foundations of the world. Look it up.

      @@davisbelas3516 With all due respect, I think you are a little confused as to what Calvinism is. Most of what you have said is in fact Calvinism. Nothing I said even remotely agrees with Calvinism.
      The God you believe in would cast the vast majority of mankind into hell w/o giving them any option to avoid it. 1 John 4:8 states that God is love. How can you think that it is a loving thing to throw most of humanity into hell w/o providing a way to escape such a fate?
      Let's suppose a parent has 10 children and requires them all to bench press 10,000 pounds if they want to be saved. Of course, none of them can do it. So the parent lifts 10,000 pounds for 2 of them and thus saves them but lets the other 8 be lost. Would you call that a loving parent? Would you call that a just parent? Would you call that an impartial parent? Yet, that is exactly the kind of God Calvin teaches.

    Beliefs, now that is the problem, since they are changeable and thus dualistic. Non-duality, direct revelation, knowledge is experience apart from belief. There is only God. Hence, only what is real exists and everything else only seems to exist in dreams.
