beautiful painting owl, very good job laura! congretulations!
Thanks so much 😀
Such a beautiful piece of art Laura, I hope your proud of it. Can't wait to see it in person 😉 xxx
Can't wait for you guys to see everything! Not long now !!!
As usual I sat through your video with a happy smile on my face. Such a calm feeling watching you two live your dream. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks again Carl 💖
Loving the art, and the shape of that piece of wood you used, looks beautiful on that wall.
You should buy a bob ross wig for next time though, Laura Ross be funny :)
You can make apple wine also.
I would like to see that be done in the future. If you like Apple wine. 🍎
How long does it take till you do a tasting on the wine you are making?
That would be a cool idea in the future, we didn't make any wine this time as we both don't drink. But maybe in the future it would be cool to make some as a gift for others 🌻
@@theoriginhomestead oh that's a good thing!! Oh how about apple fizzy same process just add some carbonation.
Love the bathroom. Great job!
Wow. This one was just uploaded 6 hours ago, and it already shows over 6000 views!
😀🌻💫
Your art work is lovely and suits the outhouse 😀
Thanks Lesley 💖

If you do see wasps making a nest, hang a paper bag. They are territorial and will think it’s already inhabited. ❤
Thats a cool idea Vickie ❤
There once was a man had a wife and they buried humans in their gardens to decompose and thankfully both are now dead themselves not buried but cremated so no remains are ever to be seen and their names
"The Neilson's" .
Funny Laura you said you had filled in the gaps internally in the outhouse but when Dan was putting on handles on the door, what did we see, great muckle gaps still needing filling. So guessing you ran out of filler?
Hi Antholl, we spray foamed the gaps in the sides but as for the gaps in the cladding we were hoping that insulating and cladding the walls would help. Thanks for watching 🤗
@@theoriginhomestead Laura my name is spelt ATHOLL - No N in it. Possibly a typo on your part?
Love your art work you could use it as a 2nd income people would pay good money for something that great
Thanks Malcolm that's so kind 🤗
Aren't the apples ok to eat or make jam?
Clever thinking guys for thinking ahead for your needs good for u
Looking forward for the barn convertioh
Your Outhouse looks so cozy & warm. Think about caulking the gaps & holes cause you will have all kinds of spiders with their unique webs, little snakes, maybe little mice that will keep you busy &. forever cleaning up from all these critters. Love your channel! ❤
Thanks for the tips! We put spray foam in the larger gaps at the side but for the gaps in between the cladding we were hoping that insulating and cladding the inside might deter them... We'll have to wait and see ahah it's all a learning curve 🤗
@@theoriginhomestead Dear Homestead, Ventilaion is necessary for outhouse. Sealing all holes is not a good idea.
Hang some rosemary, basil and/ or mint. Mice hate the smell. Toilet paper in metal can. When peeling tape off do not pull towards you. Keep close to window. The tear will be cleaner, less touch ups lovin' the outhouse. I want a new one now😁👍
Love your painting 👍 we look forward to watching your videos each time and can’t wait to see the transformation of the barn.
Thanks so much! 😊 We can't wait to get started on it ✨
Next year cider, cider vinegar, apple juice canned
Thats the plan 🤗
just found your channel ! YT suggested your grape harvest video and then watched this one. I enjoyed both of them so I hit 👍 and subscribed ! Now I'm gonna catch up on previous episodes ✌️💙🎵 From St Louis Missouri USA
Thanks for the support Dave 😀 Glad to have you aboard 🌞
Aw....the outhouse is so cute....one may stays longer in there!😅
😆 Thanks for watching
Hi you have both done great job have you done anything in your house inside would like to see inside
Excellent did you put the water tubes in the corks that go blip as the gases are released. In the barn couldn't you build a large plywood frame so you can live in while you do the alterations around you
Hi. The outhouse looks nice, and so does your painting 😍. will you insulate it - fill the holes in the wood ..?
Thanks! Yes, we do have plans to insulate it in the future, and something to cover the holes🤗
You have lot of Olive trees. You do lot with that Olives. Like: soap with olive oil . My both grandma's used to do that. They used to using the Olive oil soap for everything for cleaning, washing laundry, washing hair and bath. Our hair was shining like a silk and body skin was always smooth .
oh wow that sounds amazing, we would love to try making soaps from our olive harvest 🌻
Will you be warm enough in the van this winter?
We have a heater which will be fine, we managed 3 months in Portugal last year with a broken heater so we'll be okay 💖
I think Bob Ross would be proud ti have such a fine piece of work in his collection! Just add a happy little tree and you're all set!
Haha love it, there’s no mistakes only happy little accidents 😊
You did a fantastic job on the owl! The peace in your voice even your movements how???
Thanks for your compliment Steve. We appreciate you watching our videos 🌺
Have you watched 'Life by Ricky'. The challenge of removing the old concrete render is not as easy as it sounds. Watch it first and you may decide to skim over it.
Hard work and hilarious moments - what a joy! Thank you.
Thanks for watching 😀
How cosy does your loo look! And what a most beautiful painting! I feel the same.. Also a creative here and now a mum to a 2yo and just moved to central Portugal so time is scarce to get my paints out… but I’m feeling missing it and watching you quietly paint your lovely owl made my tummy squeeze with how much I miss it… so… there’s a lot going on but…I must make time for it.. for me. Thank you for the nudge xxx
Aww yay I'm so glad I could help inspire you. Thanks for tuning in 💖
Awesome love the door handle and painting and the spooky story heheee
Glad you liked it!! 🤗
Your outhouse is the prettiest i have ever seen!! love it!!
You are so kind 💖🌻
So wishing you luck through it all. I hope your dry season has ended?
Your painting is wonderful!
Love you guys! Look forward to your videos every week! I love how enthusiastic you are about the future of your barn and homestead xx
Always great choice of music in your videos
Glad you like them 🤗
Living the good life. I don’t know why but that advertisement come to mind watching you guys. Take it easy with Cadbury’s caramel hehe
Great find with the land it looks like a paradise for you both. Enjoy your time guys. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Thanks for tuning in 🌻
You have got the out house looking lovely. If you can give that little building space much care and attention, then I cannot wit to see what you do with your home. X ps that owl picture is stunning. Maybe you could sell some art in the village xx
The painting is really nice. I like it.
Love your artwork, congrats! Looking forward to see you start the house renovation! Take care!
Thanks Ana 🌸😀
Oh wow, your out house is looking amazing, I love everything you have both done, Laura, your painting of the out is beautiful 😍 ❤ ♥
Thanks Jayne 🤗💖
I love the idea of your outhouse carrying a bit of British architectural style in your little bit of Portugal! And I love your artwork!
What’s the size of your barn? And will you be able to live in it full time?
It's a decent size and yeah we can 😀thanks for watching
Wonderful video, great artwork, art is good for the soul
I agree, thanks for tuning in 🌻
Loving the outhouse❤️
Thanks guys, not a patch on your building skills though 😆
Hi you two, and particularly Laura, Great job on the out house, Picasso’s got nothing on you. Love your hat, wish Dan would wear one. And the artwork brilliant, nothing like original art. Tony xx
You're so sweet Tony 😆 Thanks for tuning in 🌙
The outhouse looks amazing! 😎🌞
Thanks 😀
Estou a gostar muito do vosso canal ✌🏻🥰🌻🌳🌲🦉🦥🍇🍏🥒❤️☮️
Obrigada 🤗
I was quite impressed with your painting, Laura. And great job on the outhouse you two! Your food was making me drool. Yum!
Great video, thanks for the update on your homestead. Nice paint job on the loo. And beautiful painting of the owl and mountains. Good luck with the improvements in the stone barn. May your visions come true.
👍👍👍😎
🤗🌻 😀
Are you guys getting ready for winter? I'm worried about you because winter is quite hard in Portugal
Don't worry Carlos we'll be fine 🤗
Espero que sim. Apesar de em Portugal o verão ser intensamente quente, os invernos costumam ser intensamente frios.
Tonight's watching :)
💖🌻
Make sure you water the compost heap, it needs to be kept moist to work correctly, I try to have 60% green and 40% brown material for best results,
Hey Lewis thanks for tips and we most certainly do. thanks for watching
Bonsoir 👋
Une belle vidéo bravo.
Un magnifique travail bravo à vous,
Merci pour ce partage 😉
A bientôt
Merci 💖
@@theoriginhomestead c'est avec un grand plaisir, à bientôt 😉 😊 😉
Enjoyed this video a lot. Hope you have a habitation license to use the barn as a liveable space. Take care.
Thanks Tom 🌙🌻
Love the Owl. Can’t wait for when you start on barn conversion.. great video again😊
Thanks Debbie, we can't wait to get started 🌿
Hii, channel is great, you inspire youth to live back to root. Also i seen some art of Hinduism symbol of lord shiva, Lost of love from India.
💖
Awesome job! You guys are doing great. Perhaps you could consider a solar panel (Aluminum) and not the flexible nonsense that you have, that loose 50% capacity within 2 years, combined with a self built lithium battery (100 - 200 pounds) with a battery monitor. That would power 50 LED lights forever and a macerate! Best of luck to you both, from a fellow Geordie engineer. Much love to you both ❤
Thanks for the info Steve we'll keep it in mind 😀
I think you should sell your paintings to make money. Your very good at it. It's a thought. I would like to see more of your paintings in the future if you don't mind. I really like all your videos.
Aww thanks Peter, maybe in the future! I haven't been finding the time to paint recently 🌻
Can't wait to you start the wee house
Great artwork for the Dunny and the barn seems like a Tardis; looks small on the outside and way bigger inside.
Thanks Jim 😀
Lol. That's awesome!
Bonsoir Laura. Très beau travaille. Votre terrain est magnifique et votre petit maison sublimé. Je vous souhaite tout le bonheur dans votre nouvelle vie. 🤗
Merci 💖🤗🌻
I love your van, it seems like a great set up to use as a transition from regular living to off grid living to me. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 🌻
awesome painting
Thanks 🌻😀
that sure is a fancy dunny
😆
Beautiful painting you should sell some if you do not already. I'm a fan
Thanks Tina 😀
that owl is beautiful! your outro was definitely scary!
❤
I would pay to sit in your Outhouse and admire your painting. That is so cool. Keep at it guys.
Hahaha that's so sweet Pete, thanks for watching 🤗🌻
'Not poop' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lovely job on the outhouse👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much 😀
The painting looks really nice u did good
Thanks for tuning in 🌻
Your painting is so pretty!
Thanks Joanna 🌻
Your owl was beautiful. We're our own worse critics. I admire it because I do not have the talent to paint, even though I've tried. I am crafty in other ways and so I use different avenues to express myself. But I always admire other people's talent.
Apples for compost ahhhhrrg!Cider!!
All in good time Nigel 😀
Your art work is great, have tried selling any?
Thanks Colin, I haven't tried to sell any but that could be an idea in the future 🤗
Wow you guys pretty talented 😎👌🏾
Thanks Jose 😀
Painting wow
Laura is super sweet and has a very smooth voice 🤗
Thanks Jorge 💖
What a awesome job on your drawing of the owl and the life you gave inside your out house❤ ( Beautiful and inspirational ) I am excited to watch all your videos and I also subscribed. Love from 🇺🇸 Cindy
Hi love your little video hint you should get a mot catcher you catch all the mots and fly in this way you see all that flys at night and take come photo of the different types.all you need to make a mot catcher is a white sheet and hang it down a tree with a torch shine on it there attracted to the light and land on the white sheets.
I love the owl artwork.
Thanks Rob 😀
hahaha, laura and Dan .....you two have made me really laugh, you sound like two lovely people, always be yourself and you will never go wrong, best of luck for the future.
Thanks so much 🤗 we'll always stay our goofy selves 😂
I don't know about using human poo for composting?? Have you researched it thoroughly? I would hate for you to get sick. Be careful.
Love the outhouse painting you have done.
Thank you! 😊
1:30 - I appreciate your desire to reuse. And many things in Grandpa's garage can certainly be reused. But not all. And one must be careful to suggest this. Especially with chemicals and paints. In my Grandpa's garage were old paint with lead. And some with nasty paint solvents like Xylene. Especially for a young woman like yourself, of child bearing age, you do not want to be using or handling such chemicals. I do not know if the products you used from your Grandpa's garage were fine or not. I am simply pointing out that it may not be a good idea to make generic suggest suggestions, without warning (such as read all labels and not use if not sure of contents) off hand. As for others, what is in their Grandpa's garage may be toxic.
Hope this helps.
I shall be delving into your video library so you might have mentioned it there already but how did you handle the move in our irritating post-Brexit state?
I am considering a similar transition and am looking at either getting a job over there or making some savings based D7 Visa applications after buying a little house.
In similar inquisitive vein, it would be really helpful for those of us pondering copying your bold example if you could speak on dealing with the Portuguese equivalent of Planning Permission and the difference between Rustic and Urban in regard to getting habitation permits.
love your artwork.
Thanks Ralph 🌻
Lovely place having lovely couple!
What a lovely comment 😊 ❤
How far is your outhouse from your main house?
It's a 15 second walk 😀
The outhouse is absolutely "koselig" guys👏 thanks for sharing 👍💯🤗
Well done Bob Ross would be proud!!!
ha love that thanks
If you go to Lisbon they sometimes have creatives selling art work under the Arches.
There are so much life 💖 out there. Well done 👍 guys. May God bless you both.
Great job and lovely art work. Hope the weather is kind this winter in your van...
Thanks Tony, we're Northeners we'll be fine 😆
Very nice touch was added with the painting. Great job❤❤
All those apples you could make many things like apple sauce, apple butter, apple jam, and the list is endless. The rotten ones that are beyond use other than compost is a good idea to use them too for that.
If you haven’t got that far you’ll need a black IBC tank
Hi your bathroom seems far from your house did you not want it closer to house
you need to cut that grass as it will burn no good cut it leave barn till grass cut
I'm so glad you posted a video. I love your simplicity and your piece of art (piece of heart) turned so well. Please continue the videos!
Thanks so much 💖
