- Parvo is treated with a combination of IV fluids, antibiotics to prevent sepsis and antiemetics to allow early nutrition.
Parvo is highly contagious and during treatment the infected dogs need to be isolated to protect other animals from becoming infected.
Special PPE is worn to maintain a physical barroer from the infected dogs.

My dog got diagnosed with parvo today. I noticed he was a little sad which was strange because he's pretty energetic. I didnt think much of it but later on in the night i saw hime constantly throwing up so i immediately took him to the vet. The first vet tested for parvo ans he came out negative so he just got a hydration and nausea injections. Later in the morning we took him to another vet amd he came out positive for it. We just left him at the hospital, really hoping for a healthy recovery. Please pray for my dog I'd appreciate it.
My dog is also going through the same thing. I pray that got pup better. Is he doing alright now?

My puppy blueberry tested positive for parvovirus and i just left him at the hospital just now. I’m completely devastated and angry at the breeder. I saw an ad on Craigslist just yesterday for Great Pyrenees for $500 absolutely beautiful puppies, I went today and the breeder kept them in a tiny horse barn all 12 of them if not more. They were all so energetic except blue he seemed sad and I chose him. She seemed so trustworthy I thought she was taking care of them since she had so much knowledge on them. On the two hour ride back home he vomited twice and I thought it was nerves and the motion sickness, then he was constantly sleeping and he had diarrhea and it had a horribly strong smell. The final moment where I decided something was really wrong was when he was crying out/ whimpering just laying down. Rushed him over to the vet, tested positive for PV and 8k for a three day stay, I will put myself in debt for this puppy I don’t care. I only have been with him for 11 hours, I just need him to be okay and make it through this I can’t lose him. Please please please keep blue in your prayers he deserves to live a long happy healthy spoiled life. Please 😞
I’ll pray for you Shania and your puppy Blue. He’ll pull through this! It sounds like you decided to take him to the hospital when you saw his symptoms which is good!

@@shaniac437 ouch ! Mine was told 48 hours, within the first 24 hours has so far been able to eat and keep the food down plus has not really had any blood in her stool. I’m hoping she doesn’t have to stay past 3 days.

It's expensive for the hospital to treat it as well. Meds, equipment, staff and everything involved also costs the hospital lots of money and time to cure the little ones. Pet health insurance is your best friend in all this.
@@ashleyjoseph1817 mm i think other wise there’s this medicine that used to be called Parvoaid now it goes by Paxxin & that easily will up the percentage for your dog to survive parvo for $75 you can buy paxxin and vibactra those two items will save your love one. btw if you ever mention this to a vet they will act dumb because obviously they want your business out here they charge $1k a day and they recommend leaving your dog for 3-4 days. so do the math. i think they are just cash cows they know anybody will pay anything if they got it and love their animal.

thanks fot the video. my baby shih tzu died from parvo this morning, so devastated, he's such a lovely boy. i wish we knew had vomitted and pooped the whole night, it was so quick. we're keeping an eye to her smaller sister.

My puppy is 3 months old, and he’s on day 5 and he’s still here surviving this parvo. He’s still weak and everything. I did take him to the vet and he was prescribed medications. I paid roughly $1,000.00 is dollars with everything we needed. Since we couldn’t afford the 4,500 to keep him at the hospital. Today we took him to his regular vet and he was parvo negative. But he’s still weak and vomiting. But at the beginning of the parvo what I did for him to survive past these days, was syringe feed him with medicated sconce diet food as it was a prescription. I did every 30 minutes for 4 days, no sleep and lots of love, also syringe giving my baby pedialyte clear formula to keep him hydrated. So even tho he’s still weak he is eating on day 5 a bit more and little quantities. Have faith and hope and do your best and trust they can survive. But you do need a veterinarian to help you and follow what they tell you to do. I hope this helps for anyone going through this now. I wish you the best! My baby’s name is Dallas and he’s still here weak and all but still alive after day 5.
My pup is currently at vet with parvo. I took him in asap the day he got sick. He's on day 4 of being sick but he's doing good so far. Vet is very expensive but the sooner you get your pet to the vet and do inpatient care they will have a higher survival rate.
My two month old puppy Bear came home from the shelter with Parvo. I knew from day one something wrong wrong when he was very lethargic.. he was still eating and drinking at that point (soft stool and no vomiting) so I thought it could be stress from coming home and from switching foods.. as soon as he stopped eating (2 days later) I took him straight to the vets were they diagnosed him with Parvo. My baby Bear is currently in the hospital fighting this horrible disease. I’ve only had him for four days and would do anything for him he’s such a wonderful dog! Please keep Bear in your prayers.

Same is happening to me I got Levi from the shelter I realized 2 days later he wasn’t eating thought he was sick from change of food and new place and he started throwing up and he looked like he was losing weight he is 2 months old he was is the sweetest thing he slept with me every night followed me around and I had to leave him in the vet he had worms and parvo I cried when they took him and I miss him already 😕 I pray he comes out ok

@@beckyfloof6186 thank you. She was doing so well on Sunday and towards the night she began vomiting. 2 days later and she wouldn’t touch her food or water. Today she had bloody diarrhea and I took her to a vet where she was considered very sick. She couldn’t even lift her body after a few hours and she had a mild stroke and passed unfortunately.

My 9 month old puppy was hospitalized with parvo today! Not sure if anyone else’s vet told them, but the er we took him to said the vet they were vaccinated with or the vaccination manufacturer would help pay for the treatment or pay it in full (low-high value is 3-5k for us) we called the vet he was vaccinated with and they said 99% of the time the manufacturer will pay the treatment in full! Make sure to check if your puppy was vaccinated!

There are a lot of dogs who may have parvovirus but it may not be noticeable so please take note.
My dog Troy passed away today because of parvo and I wished I had noticed the signs before now
He's usually hyper. He likes to eat, runs a lot, play, jump and doesn't joke with milk.
He reduced the way he eats. He usually doesn't finish he's food. Well, at first I thought he was selective and then like a week later he became weak. I didn't know it was parvo because I had no idea wat it was and I thought he ate something I don't know about. He reduced in weight and was vomiting. He refused food even milk. His stool was covered in a slimy jelly So I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with parvo. He started vomiting black liquid and he was stooling black liquid too. Along the line, he didn't make it 😭 he was too weak.
He was an amazing dog 😔
So please if you notice a slight change in your dog's attitude please take him to the vet for immediate check.

My puppy died yesterday of parvo in the vet parking lot. I wish we would have taken him sooner but we took his brother in today I really hope he gets better.
She talked about what precautions were taken on her behalf & how to clean a cage. The only treatment measure is drip & waiting for the dog to eat. All They seem to do is administer drip & clean cages. There you have it!
Exactly what I noticed. So In other words, pay for hydration, Parvo test and antibiotics (& probably anti nausea & diarrhea meds). Took mine home. Total so far $500. I work from home, so I’ll be able to nurse her to health about as much as a hospital in patient could do. I hope it’s enough. She’s had a hard time keeping food in until her hydration pack from an urgent vet care clinic. Eating prescription gastro puppy wet food now. I’m so annoyed at how little people are educated on parvo (me included), how prevalent it is, and the need to caution dog adoptees to verify a parvo vaccine before adopting😤😭

My poor baby has parvo. I only had her for three days and now shes in the hospital sick and I feel so sad. She must have gotten it during transport or something.
That’s exactly what’s happening with ours. Literally on the second or third day we got her she got parvo. I feel like I let her down. She is going through all this pain because of her owner. I am praying she recovers she hospitalized. Luckily, the doctor says she is responding well so I hope for the best.

Same with us .. my baby buddy has been with us only for a week and we had to hospitalize her this morn . SIck worried for him . This is such a scary condition and poor things can’t even express their suffering . Please pray for my baby’s recovery . She is jus 1.5 months old

I have a litter of Pomeranians that have Parvo. I am treating them at home. 2 died. They are vaccinated, but there is a one week window at about 12 weeks where the moms antibodies cause the vaccine to be in effective and they get it. I have one staying at the vet but can't afford a thousand $ to treat the others.

Terry Banks thank you for asking. yes she made it through the Parvo and is now home healthy and happy. My 1 year old hound also caught it but we got him through it at home. All is well 💜
@@RazorRevenge Parvo can live in the enviroment for years at a time. That's why you must always be cautious when bringing a new pup home no matter the time if you know your previous dog had parvo. I'm so happy to hear that though!
How long was she at the vet getting treatment? Mine is at the vet as well :(
@@julissavilla720 she was at the vet for 3 days. They gave her IV fluids and basically just kept her hydrated since she wasn’t eating or drinking. They also gave her antibiotics since Parvovirus weakens the immune system and secondary illnesses can take over and kill the dog during their weakened state.
They basically kept her until she could keep food and water down for 24 hours.

I was just told today that my Snow has Parvovirus. I had never heard of it. I'm praying she lives. I have cried all day. I mean all day. I'm crying now. They won't allow me to see her. She was given to us and we were told she was given her shots. I found out today she was never given her shots. I feel like I dropped the ball. I should've took her instead of believing someone else.

We are getting ready to adopt a puppy from a shelter, but they told us that it had parvo and tested negative a few days ago. It is still shedding for the next 8 days, I believe they said. We were told we can still take him home with us, but I am nervous and would rather wait. Any advice?
This is why it's so important the breeders get the puppies vaccinated as early as possible and before they go to their new homes. I say breeders because I know rescue shelters already do this

My kina was diagnosed w parvo on Friday night and they wanted her to stay hospitalized for five days but the amount I needed to pay for it was seriously ridiculous 4,000 for five days n the chance of her dying was still on the table . I can’t afford it so i took her home n I’m trying to take care of her she is unvaccinated due to the fact I just got her few days ago . Any advice please I want her to live !
You have to give Saline ! There is absolutely no chance for survival without that. They loose fluids very quickly and get dehydrated. That is the main cause of death. And you most positively have to give anti-nauseating drug , antibiotics and anti acidic drug through IV(saline). That’s the only way they have chance of survival
If you don’t want to go to vet, get hold of someone trained who can do all this in your home
My puppy is currently getting IV twice daily, with 1ml of ondem, 1ml Amikacin 250mg, 1ml of pan iv, 1ml of rantac,1 ml of intacef tazopet
Please do not forget to vaccinate, seeing all of these comments is breaking my heart for such a preventable disease. My heart and prayers go out to each person who has lost a soul due to this virus.
Even if they are vaccinated they can still get it. I have a fully vaccinated dog at home right now with parvo
@@raisingourherd6655 same! Hospitalized mine just this morning. Luckily the vet that got ours vaccinated said the manufacturer covers full treatment costs 99% of the time! Otherwise it would’ve been $3-5k.
Even vaccinated dogs aren't always safe. My parents 2 year old labrador has just been diagnosed despite being fully vaccinated against it 😭 he's in hospital very sick. He's still not eating after 3 days, on a drip and isolated also.

Jasper recovered thankfully! Shortly after the bad turn he was back up on his feet and eating, it coincided with him seeing his mum and dad after being alone in there, gave him that boost I think 😊 I do hope your dog made it through @ProteinMonkey27
My corgi is recovering from parvo, thank god. However, I’m worried how we can keep our corgi socialized from now on.
Well I’m no vet, but once ur pooch gets it, they’re immune system learns and get stronger from it, may not be 100% immune, but ur dogs body will know how to fight it better, hence why vaccines are made

Im so sad, my maltipoo puppy he's 9 weeks old, he got parvo, since yesterday he was admitted with IV and medicine, today I call the vet to.check how he was doing, he said he os a little bit better, He was able to drink a little bit of water, but he doesn't want to eat food. @@Lavo359 Thank you for the reply. I’m glad he made it!!! Sadly my pup got parvo today he was tested positive for it. But I noticed the symptoms last night or I should say today midnight. He threw up 3-4 times and this morning he had diarrhea but with no blood in it. I immediately took him to the Animal Hospital so basically 12 hrs after I’ve seen the symptoms I took him in. He is hooked up to the IV machine. Reading your comment made me feel so much better.

If the owner can stay home and watch over them I’d imagine a much higher survival rate from home than the 30% chance vets tell owners.
A lot of good the farkin’ vax did for my 1 1/2 yo black lab pup, we are fighting for her life right now.

Same here. We just got our dog on Saturday and on Tuesday we took him in. Cant get a hold of the breeder. She wont return our calls.
My lab puppy has parvo. Was told it had a shot. How can you tell if it got it

@@tacticalkrissy9036 ty for you're response. I stayed up for 4 days straight trying to keep him hydrated at one point thaught he mite make it. But he past on Xmas Eve. It was so hard. What a horrible disease.

Yes, vaccine your dogs but a vaccine isn't a cure, it's a prevention. Your dog can still get it. It gets depressing reading people say to get your dogs vaccinated (which mine are) and still read that they die from this thing.
Like treating parvo shouldn't be so costly. And then people want to run the risk of performing home treatment because the cost is so steep.
I'm sorry for everyone who's ever lost a pup to this shitty virus. I hope someday we get a cure.
