Agreed. Especially the tools near the end I wish I knew about sooner. Trying to get the line thickness right has been one of the struggles I've been working on.
Eya the 666th I’ve been using other programs and haven’t being using this one like an idiot. After watching this video I am deffs gonna download the program!!!
Sdudyoy Newton yes. I’ve used studio paint for 3 years and I am truly thankful for this video. I can’t stress how much time this is going to save me, I’m so happy I’m crying right now. I hate my past self for dismissing vector layers, so fooling.
I've been using clip studio paint for about a year now and everything I sort of learned on my own, but I had no idea about this tool! I've always struggled with lineart
Photoshop is not a dedicated manga/comic/cartoon software, it has many different features and is useful for everything, yeah you can create great art work on both, but the editing flexibility and sheer options are more in Photoshop, you will see photoshop used by a wider variety of people than CS, you a graphic designer, photographer or textile designer would prefer photoshop, although yes CS is better for just quickly making good comic/manga art and is easier to use,but phtoshop is as my graphic design teacher puts it, "something that can help you draw whatever it is that is in your mind, if you think it, it probably exists in a .psd file somewhere", so what I mean is, both have their uses, but photoshop is overall, a bigger software.
I've done a couple YT videos on Vector Layers myself, but I need to do another, accenting the adjustment tools. Once you are aware of them, it's like getting a whole new program! ;)
most people only use vector for logo and flat illustration or anything that related to graphic design that needs a pixel-perfect proportion, it's not the best option for more complicated illustration.
Are you talking about CSP users specifically? I first learned about vectors back when the MLP craze happened in 2012 and assumed everyone who was making fanart of cartoons was using those vectors.
As a CS user it pains me to admit I've never used vector layers even though I was always aware of its power. Seriously this is very satisfying for lineart artists. Very mistake friendly.
This tool alone is the reason I don't switch to other programs and stay faithful to Clip, saves me so much time. When I edit lines I use the Free Transform Mode, and by just clicking Ctrl I can fix anything in seconds. This is a life saver!
The only time I ever used a vector tool was in college graphic design classes when we were working on photoshop. It was so complicated, and didn't seen very useful for illustrations, and I assumed clip studio's vector tool would work similarly so I never used it. But this changes EVERYTHING! This will be so useful, and it looks so easy to use!
I've had a vague idea that vectors were a thing in art programs... But I had no idea it was this simple to use. WOW. Now if only there was a way to draw inside object layers, then this would be the best art program I've ever seen.
Vector layers are also very useful in the animation environment, since you can adjust each pen stroke allowing for smooth transitions.Vectors and Folders are so useful.
The eraser is so cool omg!!!!! Edit: Goodness gracious!! Thinning the entire lineart looks awesome!! I always wondered how people make their lines so thin and pretty, I guess some of them used this tool. Thanks for the tutorial, I have csp but never knew how to use vector layers. This was really helpful!! Now I'm motivated to draw
After seeing so many people get mindblown in the comments by not knowing about this, it makes me extremely glad I decided to seek help before even starting my first drawing in CSP. I'd probably never find about these Vector Layers.
As a long time Medibang user... Vector lines are the type of thing I always wanted. Seriously Being able to erase intersecting lines without having to have them all be an individual layer. *This,* however, is above and beyond what I've always wanted. Where has this program been my entire life and why don't I already own it?
So I've been using Clip Studio Paint for years, drawing lines over and over again until they're perfect, and I learn about vector layers NOW?!?!? Welp, better late than never I guess lol! This is gonna save me so much time!! 😭
Drawing with vectors is great. I've done a customization with my stylus where I've assigned the eraser end as the vector editing tool. The workflow is like this. I make a stroke with the brush. If I need to edit the stroke, I flip the stylus around to the eraser end. Clip Studio automatically switches to the vector editing tool without me having to do anything and the points on the path become visible at the same time. With a key modifier, I can toggle the vector path smoothing tool because Clip Studio ALWAYS has way too many nodes on a path. So I go over the brush stroke once with the brush smoother to get rid of the excess strokes and maybe get a better stroke. Then, let go of the key modifier and the eraser end is a node editor. I can select nodes and move them, with a key modifier I can delete nodes or add nodes. All of that without a trip to the toolbox to switch tool, plus all the functionality on the other end of the stylus.
I’m new to digital drawing and it’s tools like this that made me want to make the move from traditional drawing to digital! It’s inspiring me to open it up now so I can test it out!!
I need the whole breakdown on how to use CS Pro, being a manga artist that usually draws on paper. The learning curve is hugeeee but i'll get better in time. It's a great program
I think I need this. I drew something so beautiful with so much detail and I wanted to add more to the outside of it so I had to zoom the image smaller and pixels started showing up chopping my details. That's when I learned about vector. Here to leArn how to draw and paint realistic with it. Hate ruining master pieces while learning digital art
Hi.. Can u help me? Hello! I am pretty new getting into the digital drawing medium. I recently got the Clip Studio Paint Pro to run with my Wacom Intuos Draw small Tablet. I have seen that the vector layer should be more "smooth" than the raster layer [less pixelated when zoomed in]. Currently, when I am trying to get my lining going, it looks almost identical to any lines drawn on a raster layer; it is incredibly pixelated when I zoom in and it's making it hard to get in for smaller details.
Been using clip studio for 3-4 yrs. Never rly touched the vector shi cuz of bad experience with flash. But maybe ill give it a go. One things for sure, its the best drawing progra, there is
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!! I was wondering what the differences were. I come from using Illustrator, and I like the crispness of vector. Thanks again!!!
Thank you so much again for sharing these super useful clips - they're really well made! :D I'm also grateful for you sharing tips about how to use vectors in CSP - this is so useful since I really love using vectors and had no idea this clever programme was even capable of doing this kind of thing! Thanks so much for sharing these really helpful tips and please keep up the great work :)
Just installed Clip Studio Paint and used the Correct Line Width tool. It is AWESOME! Unfortunately, I have a few issues using my tablet with Clip Studio, so I went back to Krita. I'll definitely use it again in the future, if I find a good solution for my tablet.
This is a great video! It explains everything clearly. I also LOVE this feature! Can't wait to try it - it looks like it will make line art way more fun.
...I had no idea I could do this. I always struggled with drawing the lineart / inking. Thanks.
Agreed. Especially the tools near the end I wish I knew about sooner. Trying to get the line thickness right has been one of the struggles I've been working on.

@cricket Sure, but when on sale, you can get all these features for less than 30 dollars
Vector Layers are such a powerful feature! But among my fellow Western artists, no one uses them. Lots of good adjustment tools for vector lines, too.
I've done a couple YT videos on Vector Layers myself, but I need to do another, accenting the adjustment tools. Once you are aware of them, it's like getting a whole new program! ;)
I especially like the nudge line tool. When you get the settings right, it is very easy and intuitive to beat a line into shape!
I dont use vector, because it's slowing my work. Dont get me wrong, i think it is a powerful tool. maybe i'm just not used to it enough
