@@perafilozof I can tell you what games disappointed really really badly. Stormgate to name the biggest flop and Rattenreich is second. And i predict, Battle Aces will flop like Stormgate. Those RTS developers are focusing too much on the competitive scene and most if not all RTS games that did the same in the past 10-20 years failed.
I agree with you that for some reason a lot of devs are fixated on MP when only about 25% of players like that part. And SP campaigns are what usually sells RTS games. The vocal minority effect in... effect I guess.

I think the main problem with PA is that the previous game's developers who apparently don't even work on this IP anymore cheated people with their Kickstarter and the hate comes from a rightful place but is now placed at the wrong people's doorstep. @@perafilozof Hello, i was a kickstater backer, where you? I felt it was the best game from any of the many Kickstarters i backed. I issue was more perception, e.g. steam alphas access cost (to match kickstarter alpha cost) along with some strange things they did like gamma release.

@@perafilozof Interested in Godsworn - hope the sound/animations are good, so the process itself feels fun. For me well animated infantry with good sound is 50% of the game already. The setting is somewhat original, and I'm big fan of Witcher universe, which is very similar to it. Dawn of Defense sound good as well, at least has the potential to be something new. Rest are either same wanna-be CnC Generals, or sweaty SC2-like messes, like BattleAces or StormGate. Industrial Annihilation could be nice, but I heard strange things about the devs, as it seems they re-launching croudfunding for this game second or third time...

@@perafilozof The games I didn't know of are infiniwar (which should be excellent single player for the roguelike aspects which should work super well for a challenging strategy game) aba(something), and defcon zero. I most look forward to Zerospace will join the beta test. I am currently very active in the Stormgate 1v1 ladder.
@@perafilozof As far as the 1v1 goes yes. Smart and timely balance patches along with updates that add new things. I've been told the campaign is lackluster. I haven't tried it yet, but you can tell that's not my focus though I hope they concentrate on that more to please the 'average' RTS player who will decide whether the game succeeds overrall.
-Fractured Alliance look amazing, Thanks for mentioning walls =D - Defcon Zero just look as much awesome. -Sins 2 is on my "to purchase for sure" list. I talked a bit with the devs and many upgrades look so amazing and promising. The UI should have different skin options (although maybe not release, this remains to be seen but it's something the devs wants to add), many quality of life will make this title so much more enjoyable on the fleet management side ! But the biggest change is how the advents were changed, it's a much needed complete overhaul which will make the faction finally enjoyable. The sub-factions look amazing along with some new features linked to them and finally, the planets orbiting which can be completely turned off is going to make our head spins, litteraly with features to make base defense shift as well. -Industrial Annihilation stopped hyping me when I saw it was going to be a kickstarter and no multiplayer is planned. If AI is not used, there is still an asset library to use so it's kinda the same? I'm not a fan of AI though it does steal the work of skillful artist who are left with nothing but if AI is used in a limited way then why not? There should still be a fee charged each time the AI is taking images for it's inspiration, going directly to artist (one can only dream) -Infinity War, Ratten Reich, Regiments, Battlefield Comander are tactical games so heh, they don't really scratch that RTS itch - Battle Aces and Polygon Storm are bit too much crazy MOBA for me. -Unnatural worlds looks a bit too insane maybe? And apoceus as well. Not convinced yet. -Godsworn has been a meh mostly because updates don't bring much more than a single map when some serious change would be needed here and there. (like UI, faction units not making much sense, useless walls because of maps, the problem of towers and walls, unit types, etc.) -Stormgate and Zerospace... look amazing but criticism and F2P are really pushing me (especially stormgate with horrendous macro-transactions. Yes, MACRO) -Mankind RTS looks clunky, it's using the kind of assets I have seen a thousand times. Better to stay away at the moment IMO. -Dawn of defense looks pretty interesting, I hate tower defense but if there's a twist making it more RTS-like... I'm curious, they picked my interest. -The bonus game looks amazing, if you liked it, I can't wait to know more about it.

@@perafilozof Still on Northgard and Dune Spice Wars (I hope a new faction will come soon). After playing Spice Wars a little more, I found it to be pretty cool with it's political design. The latest Ixian faction (Vernius) took me some time to get into because they're really hard to play. Not a RTS, but while waiting for Sins 2, I started Faeria (there was a major sale on the title and it's DLC), a TCG I never tried before which is quite impressive. And then, once in a while, Tiberian Sun (yeah yeah I know), Solium Infernum, War for the Overworld, W40k Gladius, Stellaris and Submarine Titans (yeah, it's too unique and nobody ever made a similar title)
@@perafilozof No, thank you for taking the time to read and reply to me !! You're practically the only youtuber answering to people. Spice Wars has short games compared to other 4x, about an hour. I actually try to plan carefully how I want to spend my time (planning an hour or two here and there) because in the end, I don't play that much, if I have 2 hours to play and chain 20min games on Tib Sun, Submarine Titans and other short rts, I found it to be a lot of fun. But managing time isn't always easy indeed. Especially when you need to think about youtube as well.
No problem, I am very happy to have people to talk to about these games and fellow RTS fans. Honestly, I have noticed that few creators on YT answer comments, and while I do understand that when they get big they have a lot of comments per day to answer, but it feels like they are exploiting their audience for money because they would rather pump out more videos than sit down a few hours a week or minutes per day and answer comments.
IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES! AHHH I have soooo many fond memories of that absolutely insane gem of a game. Honestly felt like a fever dream and for the longest time I couldn't remember what it was even called. 5:36 just brought a tide of memories rushing in and I am all for it lol.

I loved Descent: Freespace, Freespace 2, and Sins of a Solar Empire. I was fortunate enough to find that Freespace mod for Sins 1 (had 2 at 2 different times I think but they werent there at the same time maybe). Friggin sublime. I would absolutely LOVE a Freespace mod. If it's a complete conversion like for Sins 1, I am even willing to pay. If it is free, Ill donate. I cant mod myself, but I love mods. Also modders tend to be very generous and kind people. I am grateful for that. Thanks to you and everyone who mods. Also nice video.

I think the new annihilation game looks interesting but I have some issues with the feel of their other projects. Planetary Annihilation should have been one of my favorite games ever, but the weightlessness of the units and combat just killed it for me. I don't have a lot of faith for that in this new game. The overwhelming negative sentiment on the trailers comments shocked me though. Dawn of defense and Sins really look amazing though. Great video as always.

AI in games should be used as an opponent to the player/s only and it should be made in such a way that it does not cheat, in the sense of getting more resources at will.
Hi and thanks for the comment. In most cases we now usually talk about AI that works on making some elements of a game. Separate from the AI opponents.
Alright. After seeing this video till the end, let me explain all of them: Fractured Alliance, it's like C&C RA 3 bc they have mech unit which pretty neat. Sins of a Solar Empire 2, better than Homeworld 2. Why? Those curse SBI consultants ruin the games. Industrial Annihilation, like a planetary annihilation and SC. This is look promising. Infiniwar, as you did say it's like World of Conflict and it looks like fun. Ratten Reich, i love the games but sometimes it got me bored and tired because too much WW1 and WW2 games now. Unnatural world, idk how to say this but playing with that strange area sounds fun. Godsworn, the new update making me want to play but my wallet say not yet. Regiment, i haven't heard for a while but i gonna watch gameplay first. Battle Aces, idk man. Most unit are insects? Idk but i think i gonna pass that. Storngate, aside from negative feedback like gameplay, balance, and others.... WHY THE HECK THEY MAKE FEMALE CHARACTERS LOOK AIN'T PRETTY???? Sorry for capital word. That's what most people complain about. Zerospace, idk where to play but i hope it's available. Operation Polygon Storm, so many games with Poly now. Probably it's cheap to make perhaps? But i think ill pass... For now... Defcon Zero, that new RTS games sounds like a promising. I can't wait. Battlefield Commander WWII, just like i say too many WWII games but the gameplay is pretty good. Apoceus, idk this one but i hope each faction doesn't have same unit. That's all. MainKind RTS, Dey lookz like Digga Nobz but lak of Dakka! Dawn of Defense, like a Kingdom Rush but have some RTS element which you can recruit unit to reclaim some land. The last one is bonus new rts games... The graphics, gameplay... That's look awesome. I hope the progress went well. Conclusion, this is my opinion and some of these games are great.

This time I learned about the video after I allready knew about Welcome back Commande, I found the video link from wbc discord. This is a big list, keept me entertained for a while
I'm a bit overloaded with "coming sometime hopefully before you die" timescale games. I would like to only know about a game when its a few months from releasing. It's like cooking a meal, it smells great until a certain point you're tired of smelling it. Everyone else enjoys it but as you made it, you feel less hungry. Also desert/ snow/ empty maps devoid of other life and just giving you space Dawn of Defence looks nice for a change. I've leaned into tower defence more lately.

However, since I know how hard it is for Indie devs to get funding without already having a lot of wishlists on Steam or views of their videos of members on their discord I have to do my part and help them out with that. Rare are publishers like Hooded Horse who will help you indie devs in early stages and support their work.
@@perafilozof I totally agree - coming from it personally. But I still have wishlisted from your videos. If it was a choice of fewer attempts at making RTS games or hearing about them all, I’d rather sit through every new RTS video.

I loved Sins 1 but honestly I've been a little disappointed at how almost nothing has changed in 2. I think there's a lot of wasted potential in the engine. But I love what they're doing with Regiments Winds of Change.
Well, from my experience with it these last few months, more than enough changes have been made and new stuff added but I too am sorry they didn't do a singleplayer campaign.

I feel like as long as AI's work isn't what is getting sold in the end you are good as a developer. If you use placeholder stuff during development, or troubleshoot your programing work, or reduce cost by having AI help you. But if you end up selling a game where the music is by AI, the art is by AI and some of the programing is by AI, I wouldn't have your back.
@@perafilozof lol, that is fare. I think it is better for rapid prototyping. You can get it to say make a 3d car, but then a human has to tinker with it. that sort of stuff.

Infiniwar dev here: WiC is my primary inspiration! The difference in graphical style is that I am a solo, part-time developer, and WiC was made by a big-budget AA-AAA studio with many people working on the art. So I have to keep things simple in order to actually ship a game someday. Thanks for the question!

I wonder if the Infiniwar dev is going to customize the unit icons. As the game stands, these are - straight up - copies of World in Conflict (style, icons, color, etc.).
@@dudeguybro thanks for the concern. I did actually make them by hand, so there are some details that are different and simplified or changed. But I did originally intend to make them similar, as they are intuitive and aid player familiarity. I figured the rest of the game looks so different (no chance that screenshots from the two games get confused because of the different art styles) that it wouldn't be a big deal. But maybe I need to reconsider.
Oh indeed. What was once on EPIC was like one faction, unfinished UI and textures. Now all the features are in the game. Most stuff is improved over SINS 1 and many extra features added both gameplay and UI wise. I will do a sort of showcase / review about it soon. @@perafilozof Have you reviewed the rts game available for mobile pc, Rusted Warfare? I see you showcase rts games on this channel so I belive you would like Rusted warfare, sure the base game may lack some content but you will not be disappointed by its modding community which can add up to hundreds of new units. Note that I am new to this channel so I might not know if you reviewed this game before.

I won't tell anything about units in Mankind RTS, but I've seen author posting their building models (including WIP) on twitter, so I'm unsure if those are from any asset store. Any chance that this 2nd game you are talking about are from the same author?

@@perafilozof Yep. You get all the Rebellion experience (with the DLCs) included + any of the initial new features the devs made for the game. And the best news, but I dunno if it's indeed real...THERE MIGHT BE A CAMPAIGN MODE. Take it with a pinch of salt, but I hope it's real.
an RTS where you need to play factorio to get units sounds like fun but in multiplayer i guess it's way too easy to sabotage a little part of the enemy factory to bring it to a halt.

In my honest opinion using AI for the development of games should be put in a limited scope. For AI only take ideas from existing resources and rather it should stay only in part for helping finding issues and help the game become more optimize in all platforms.

@@perafilozof Warcana is a kind of mix of RTS, Tower Defense, Auto-battler and Deck-building. It's hard to describe. but It looks really cool. Oh and Personally I'm mostly hyped for Industrial Annihilation since I'm a big fan of Planetary Annihilation.

Thank you for this video. In my opinion, too many of these newer RTS games use the sci-fi/military aesthetic and often it looks like a derivative of Starcraft 2. To those devs, I would say if I wanted a game similar to SC2, I would just play SC2 instead lol. I would like more fantasy-style RTS games ala Warcraft 3 or Warcraft 2. WC3's only update is Reforged, but that was a poorly done "remaster." Hell, give me Warcraft 2 HD. So with this said, I'll check out Godsworn!

I think it should be law that all digital media be they games, movies or otherwise should have to be labeled as "Uses AI" or "AI generated"" when fully made by AI.

Immortals GoP has a great core gameplay, a good team behind it, so the potential is there. It remains to be seen do players at large like it.

Hello and thank you for the comment. What do you like most about it? Usually people are divided between those that played 1 and 2 and like them and hatted 3rd. While those that didn't play the original ones are OK with the 3rd one.
@@perafilozof Its quality in general. Mechanicly its not the best RTS, i guess, but graphics, story, music, voice acting, art design are amasing. And even better with add-on's. 2nd game was even more hated back then, btw.
Zerosapce team hit a nail in a head with their unit desings.... Finally something, that does not look generic and forgettable like another Stormgate or C&C / Total Annihilation clone... And this is the only big RTS, which seems to do at least a bit of capture points stuff for some "resources", unless they ditched this idea. By having GiantGrantGames on their side I belive they are going to make whole SP and coop stuff right, so playerbase may be big enough to allow for a big multiplayer community and long updates.

@@perafilozof I am playing COH3 since almost release, multiplayer only, coz AI in normal gamemodes is a joke in every RTS, when you learned a game. I can not stand "classic" RTS design, coz memorized chores of macro and splitted attention to all small things with a lot of units, which end up as a simple force multiplication..., cause lack of strategy or rather tactical plays... Most of RTSes are a production management, where a gameplay ends up with - bloob your force and split vs aoe units and at the same time, try to overwhelm attention of an opponent by harassing his economy..... It is all about who runs out of attention and micro first and a strategy does not matter as long as you can do it. Zerospace seems to understand it, so we may have something interesting...., but why the hell nobody copy Relic designs of RTSes in a good way? We got only some clunky or simple clones like Iron Harvest or Nortguard. In short... I want a game, where how I click my units matters, not how much buildings I can click, when at the same time using 3 groups of bloobs.
Hi and thx for explaining that. I do totally get your point. I find myself and a few other RTS games developers and commentators thinking about this often. Because the CORE of an RTS can be defined in a few different ways and than the gameplay changes depending on what your own definition is when someone is making a game. There are people who like one way and other who like other ways of playing. That is why RTS games broken into MOBAs, RTT, Tower Defense and all the other kinds.
@@perafilozof And this is why moba is more popular, coz you make decisions all the time +coop, with less mundane base managment, which is there mostly to split your attention. There is a room for classic RTS, but I see old ways as a limitations of technology and later a fear of changes. Nowadays there should be stances, automations by a user choice, good targets priorities and soo on. Dawn of War 1 had a lot of this in 2004! Autoreinforce per squad as resources are available, autobuild which should be expanded, by being able to pick an order of units to make as resources are avaible..., stances, a bit shallow but should be expanded... Imagine being able to tell units to spread out to take less AOE dmg, but with some downside or limitation, a stance to focus fire units types or to not shoot at some, a stance to start firing at some range for units in a camouflage. But no, we are getting mostly another type of build a slightly different base and make slightly different units to A-move them vs an enemy. What is the point of having a lot of units on the field, if most of it is just DPS and HP multiplying. Veterancy and positioning as a way to boost your power seems to be way better for a lot of people, which are starved of it, coz of SC clones. ... And here I have hopes, that Zerospace knows what needs to be done.
Yeah, that is an excellent point and I too see that many developers keep things way too simple despite room for much progress in how combat works and what units are capable off. I think you will like Global Conflagration as well. @@perafilozof Just like i said in the commend "Maelstorm" adds tons of content like new planets, new class of ships, 3 new factions, outstanding mod. I personally wait for many RTS, D.O.R.F, Global Conflagration, Godsworn (full release), Tempest Rising, ZeroSpace, Ablight, Endeavor, Red Chaos - The Strict Order, Barkhan, Mass Conflict: Ignition, Dust Front RTS, IMMORTAL: Gates of Pyre, thats only those i can remember, i do understand half of them will flop, but i have high hopes for some, only indie devs can save RTS, i will pray for them.
unnatural worlds looks like what if planetary annihilation went nuts on its planetoids .... and to be fair while there weren't pyramid or potato planetoids it had a few crazy planets with basically a shell around a sun (not a dysonsphere) or a cubeplanet

@@perafilozof not much, having been less and less motivated to play regularly. current RTS i play is AoE4, participated in the first closed beta of battle aces which to my personal surprise was really good fun. and some on and off (as in once every 2 months or so) Open Red Alert currently waiting for AoM: retold Tempest: rising and DORF bit reserved with industrial annihilation do to the history the devs had with PA Titans ... overall good game but some very questionable decisions in the early release and i think that would be more than enough RTS games for the rest of the decade for me ... i feel we might be a bit oversaturated with RTS releases over the next years

Stormgate to name the biggest flop and Rattenreich is second.
And i predict, Battle Aces will flop like Stormgate.
Those RTS developers are focusing too much on the competitive scene and most if not all RTS games that did the same in the past 10-20 years failed.
I agree with you that for some reason a lot of devs are fixated on MP when only about 25% of players like that part. And SP campaigns are what usually sells RTS games. The vocal minority effect in... effect I guess.
C&C is not indie though, so you still hope for large corporations :D

I think the main problem with PA is that the previous game's developers who apparently don't even work on this IP anymore cheated people with their Kickstarter and the hate comes from a rightful place but is now placed at the wrong people's doorstep. At least that is what I have been able to figure out. I might be wrong.
@@perafilozof Hello, i was a kickstater backer, where you? I felt it was the best game from any of the many Kickstarters i backed. I issue was more perception, e.g. steam alphas access cost (to match kickstarter alpha cost) along with some strange things they did like gamma release.

Interested in Godsworn - hope the sound/animations are good, so the process itself feels fun. For me well animated infantry with good sound is 50% of the game already. The setting is somewhat original, and I'm big fan of Witcher universe, which is very similar to it.
Dawn of Defense sound good as well, at least has the potential to be something new.
Rest are either same wanna-be CnC Generals, or sweaty SC2-like messes, like BattleAces or StormGate.
Industrial Annihilation could be nice, but I heard strange things about the devs, as it seems they re-launching croudfunding for this game second or third time...
@@johnjoobooks Thank you for the full replay. Glad to see you have found games you liked on this list. IA has some bad past due to some parts of the Dev team taking too many liberties with how Kickstarters should be run. I think those folks don't wokr for the team, but I could be wrong.

@@perafilozof The games I didn't know of are infiniwar (which should be excellent single player for the roguelike aspects which should work super well for a challenging strategy game) aba(something), and defcon zero. I most look forward to Zerospace will join the beta test. I am currently very active in the Stormgate 1v1 ladder.

@@perafilozof As far as the 1v1 goes yes. Smart and timely balance patches along with updates that add new things. I've been told the campaign is lackluster. I haven't tried it yet, but you can tell that's not my focus though I hope they concentrate on that more to please the 'average' RTS player who will decide whether the game succeeds overrall.

-Fractured Alliance look amazing, Thanks for mentioning walls =D - Defcon Zero just look as much awesome.
-Sins 2 is on my "to purchase for sure" list. I talked a bit with the devs and many upgrades look so amazing and promising. The UI should have different skin options (although maybe not release, this remains to be seen but it's something the devs wants to add), many quality of life will make this title so much more enjoyable on the fleet management side ! But the biggest change is how the advents were changed, it's a much needed complete overhaul which will make the faction finally enjoyable. The sub-factions look amazing along with some new features linked to them and finally, the planets orbiting which can be completely turned off is going to make our head spins, litteraly with features to make base defense shift as well.
-Industrial Annihilation stopped hyping me when I saw it was going to be a kickstarter and no multiplayer is planned.
If AI is not used, there is still an asset library to use so it's kinda the same? I'm not a fan of AI though it does steal the work of skillful artist who are left with nothing but if AI is used in a limited way then why not? There should still be a fee charged each time the AI is taking images for it's inspiration, going directly to artist (one can only dream)
-Infinity War, Ratten Reich, Regiments, Battlefield Comander are tactical games so heh, they don't really scratch that RTS itch - Battle Aces and Polygon Storm are bit too much crazy MOBA for me.
-Unnatural worlds looks a bit too insane maybe? And apoceus as well. Not convinced yet.
-Godsworn has been a meh mostly because updates don't bring much more than a single map when some serious change would be needed here and there. (like UI, faction units not making much sense, useless walls because of maps, the problem of towers and walls, unit types, etc.)
-Stormgate and Zerospace... look amazing but criticism and F2P are really pushing me (especially stormgate with horrendous macro-transactions. Yes, MACRO)
-Mankind RTS looks clunky, it's using the kind of assets I have seen a thousand times. Better to stay away at the moment IMO.
-Dawn of defense looks pretty interesting, I hate tower defense but if there's a twist making it more RTS-like... I'm curious, they picked my interest.
-The bonus game looks amazing, if you liked it, I can't wait to know more about it.

@@perafilozof Still on Northgard and Dune Spice Wars (I hope a new faction will come soon).
After playing Spice Wars a little more, I found it to be pretty cool with it's political design. The latest Ixian faction (Vernius) took me some time to get into because they're really hard to play.
Not a RTS, but while waiting for Sins 2, I started Faeria (there was a major sale on the title and it's DLC), a TCG I never tried before which is quite impressive.
And then, once in a while, Tiberian Sun (yeah yeah I know), Solium Infernum, War for the Overworld, W40k Gladius, Stellaris and Submarine Titans (yeah, it's too unique and nobody ever made a similar title)
Ah a very nice spread of games. I wish I had more time to spend on Dune Spice Wars, I like their gameplay design very much. Thank you for the reply.

Spice Wars has short games compared to other 4x, about an hour.
I actually try to plan carefully how I want to spend my time (planning an hour or two here and there) because in the end, I don't play that much, if I have 2 hours to play and chain 20min games on Tib Sun, Submarine Titans and other short rts, I found it to be a lot of fun.
But managing time isn't always easy indeed. Especially when you need to think about youtube as well.
No problem, I am very happy to have people to talk to about these games and fellow RTS fans. Honestly, I have noticed that few creators on YT answer comments, and while I do understand that when they get big they have a lot of comments per day to answer, but it feels like they are exploiting their audience for money because they would rather pump out more videos than sit down a few hours a week or minutes per day and answer comments.
IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES! AHHH I have soooo many fond memories of that absolutely insane gem of a game. Honestly felt like a fever dream and for the longest time I couldn't remember what it was even called. 5:36 just brought a tide of memories rushing in and I am all for it lol.
Hehe, I totally get you. I first ever saw IC at a local PC gameroom and instantly fell in love with it. Had to get it for my own PC later and enjoyed it a lot. Thx for the comment, and do tell me which of these upcoming games do you like the most?

I loved Descent: Freespace, Freespace 2, and Sins of a Solar Empire.
I was fortunate enough to find that Freespace mod for Sins 1 (had 2 at 2 different times I think but they werent there at the same time maybe).
Friggin sublime.
I would absolutely LOVE a Freespace mod. If it's a complete conversion like for Sins 1, I am even willing to pay.

I think the new annihilation game looks interesting but I have some issues with the feel of their other projects. Planetary Annihilation should have been one of my favorite games ever, but the weightlessness of the units and combat just killed it for me. I don't have a lot of faith for that in this new game. The overwhelming negative sentiment on the trailers comments shocked me though. Dawn of defense and Sins really look amazing though. Great video as always.

AI in games should be used as an opponent to the player/s only and it should be made in such a way that it does not cheat, in the sense of getting more resources at will.

Fractured Alliance, it's like C&C RA 3 bc they have mech unit which pretty neat.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2, better than Homeworld 2. Why? Those curse SBI consultants ruin the games.
Industrial Annihilation, like a planetary annihilation and SC. This is look promising.
Infiniwar, as you did say it's like World of Conflict and it looks like fun.
Ratten Reich, i love the games but sometimes it got me bored and tired because too much WW1 and WW2 games now.
Unnatural world, idk how to say this but playing with that strange area sounds fun.
Godsworn, the new update making me want to play but my wallet say not yet.
Regiment, i haven't heard for a while but i gonna watch gameplay first.
Battle Aces, idk man. Most unit are insects? Idk but i think i gonna pass that.
Storngate, aside from negative feedback like gameplay, balance, and others.... WHY THE HECK THEY MAKE FEMALE CHARACTERS LOOK AIN'T PRETTY???? Sorry for capital word. That's what most people complain about.
Zerospace, idk where to play but i hope it's available.
Operation Polygon Storm, so many games with Poly now. Probably it's cheap to make perhaps? But i think ill pass... For now...

Battlefield Commander WWII, just like i say too many WWII games but the gameplay is pretty good.
Apoceus, idk this one but i hope each faction doesn't have same unit. That's all.
MainKind RTS, Dey lookz like Digga Nobz but lak of Dakka!
Dawn of Defense, like a Kingdom Rush but have some RTS element which you can recruit unit to reclaim some land.
The last one is bonus new rts games... The graphics, gameplay... That's look awesome. I hope the progress went well.
Conclusion, this is my opinion and some of these games are great.

I'm a bit overloaded with "coming sometime hopefully before you die" timescale games. I would like to only know about a game when its a few months from releasing.
It's like cooking a meal, it smells great until a certain point you're tired of smelling it. Everyone else enjoys it but as you made it, you feel less hungry.
Also desert/ snow/ empty maps devoid of other life and just giving you space
Dawn of Defence looks nice for a change. I've leaned into tower defence more lately.

However, since I know how hard it is for Indie devs to get funding without already having a lot of wishlists on Steam or views of their videos of members on their discord I have to do my part and help them out with that. Rare are publishers like Hooded Horse who will help you indie devs in early stages and support their work.

I loved Sins 1 but honestly I've been a little disappointed at how almost nothing has changed in 2. I think there's a lot of wasted potential in the engine. But I love what they're doing with Regiments Winds of Change.
Well, from my experience with it these last few months, more than enough changes have been made and new stuff added but I too am sorry they didn't do a singleplayer campaign.

I don't see a problem using A.I. for game development. it can take pressure of game Devs who can be over worked.
I feel like as long as AI's work isn't what is getting sold in the end you are good as a developer. If you use placeholder stuff during development, or troubleshoot your programing work, or reduce cost by having AI help you. But if you end up selling a game where the music is by AI, the art is by AI and some of the programing is by AI, I wouldn't have your back.
@@perafilozof lol, that is fare. I think it is better for rapid prototyping. You can get it to say make a 3d car, but then a human has to tinker with it. that sort of stuff.

Infiniwar dev here: WiC is my primary inspiration! The difference in graphical style is that I am a solo, part-time developer, and WiC was made by a big-budget AA-AAA studio with many people working on the art. So I have to keep things simple in order to actually ship a game someday. Thanks for the question!

I wonder if the Infiniwar dev is going to customize the unit icons. As the game stands, these are - straight up - copies of World in Conflict (style, icons, color, etc.).

@@dudeguybro thanks for the concern. I did actually make them by hand, so there are some details that are different and simplified or changed. But I did originally intend to make them similar, as they are intuitive and aid player familiarity. I figured the rest of the game looks so different (no chance that screenshots from the two games get confused because of the different art styles) that it wouldn't be a big deal. But maybe I need to reconsider.

Oh indeed. What was once on EPIC was like one faction, unfinished UI and textures. Now all the features are in the game. Most stuff is improved over SINS 1 and many extra features added both gameplay and UI wise. I will do a sort of showcase / review about it soon. I think the main problem with PA is that the previous game's developers who apparently don't even work on this IP anymore cheated people with their Kickstarter and the hate comes from a rightful place but is now placed at the wrong people's doorstep. At least that is what I have been able to figure out. I might be wrong.

@@perafilozof Yep. You get all the Rebellion experience (with the DLCs) included + any of the initial new features the devs made for the game.
And the best news, but I dunno if it's indeed real...THERE MIGHT BE A CAMPAIGN MODE. Take it with a pinch of salt, but I hope it's real.

an RTS where you need to play factorio to get units sounds like fun but in multiplayer i guess it's way too easy to sabotage a little part of the enemy factory to bring it to a halt.

Hi, no it is more about simply base building and taking fewer clicks to do a lot with the UI. As well as a number of other things they are working on.

In my honest opinion using AI for the development of games should be put in a limited scope. For AI only take ideas from existing resources and rather it should stay only in part for helping finding issues and help the game become more optimize in all platforms.

Thank you for this video. In my opinion, too many of these newer RTS games use the sci-fi/military aesthetic and often it looks like a derivative of Starcraft 2. To those devs, I would say if I wanted a game similar to SC2, I would just play SC2 instead lol. I would like more fantasy-style RTS games ala Warcraft 3 or Warcraft 2. WC3's only update is Reforged, but that was a poorly done "remaster." Hell, give me Warcraft 2 HD. So with this said, I'll check out Godsworn!

Zerosapce team hit a nail in a head with their unit desings.... Finally something, that does not look generic and forgettable like another Stormgate or C&C / Total Annihilation clone...
And this is the only big RTS, which seems to do at least a bit of capture points stuff for some "resources", unless they ditched this idea. By having GiantGrantGames on their side I belive they are going to make whole SP and coop stuff right, so playerbase may be big enough to allow for a big multiplayer community and long updates.

@@perafilozof I am playing COH3 since almost release, multiplayer only, coz AI in normal gamemodes is a joke in every RTS, when you learned a game.
I can not stand "classic" RTS design, coz memorized chores of macro and splitted attention to all small things with a lot of units, which end up as a simple force multiplication..., cause lack of strategy or rather tactical plays... Most of RTSes are a production management, where a gameplay ends up with - bloob your force and split vs aoe units and at the same time, try to overwhelm attention of an opponent by harassing his economy.....
It is all about who runs out of attention and micro first and a strategy does not matter as long as you can do it.
Zerospace seems to understand it, so we may have something interesting...., but why the hell nobody copy Relic designs of RTSes in a good way? We got only some clunky or simple clones like Iron Harvest or Nortguard.
In short... I want a game, where how I click my units matters, not how much buildings I can click, when at the same time using 3 groups of bloobs.
Hi and thx for explaining that. I do totally get your point. I find myself and a few other RTS games developers and commentators thinking about this often. Because the CORE of an RTS can be defined in a few different ways and than the gameplay changes depending on what your own definition is when someone is making a game. There are people who like one way and other who like other ways of playing. That is why RTS games broken into MOBAs, RTT, Tower Defense and all the other kinds.
@@perafilozof And this is why moba is more popular, coz you make decisions all the time +coop, with less mundane base managment, which is there mostly to split your attention. There is a room for classic RTS, but I see old ways as a limitations of technology and later a fear of changes. Nowadays there should be stances, automations by a user choice, good targets priorities and soo on.
Dawn of War 1 had a lot of this in 2004! Autoreinforce per squad as resources are available, autobuild which should be expanded, by being able to pick an order of units to make as resources are avaible..., stances, a bit shallow but should be expanded... Imagine being able to tell units to spread out to take less AOE dmg, but with some downside or limitation, a stance to focus fire units types or to not shoot at some, a stance to start firing at some range for units in a camouflage.
But no, we are getting mostly another type of build a slightly different base and make slightly different units to A-move them vs an enemy.
What is the point of having a lot of units on the field, if most of it is just DPS and HP multiplying. Veterancy and positioning as a way to boost your power seems to be way better for a lot of people, which are starved of it, coz of SC clones.
... And here I have hopes, that Zerospace knows what needs to be done.
Yeah, that is an excellent point and I too see that many developers keep things way too simple despite room for much progress in how combat works and what units are capable off. I think you will like Global Conflagration as well. unnatural worlds looks like what if planetary annihilation went nuts on its planetoids .... and to be fair while there weren't pyramid or potato planetoids it had a few crazy planets with basically a shell around a sun (not a dysonsphere) or a cubeplanet

and some on and off (as in once every 2 months or so) Open Red Alert

Tempest: rising and DORF
bit reserved with industrial annihilation do to the history the devs had with PA Titans ... overall good game but some very questionable decisions in the early release
and i think that would be more than enough RTS games for the rest of the decade for me ... i feel we might be a bit oversaturated with RTS releases over the next years

I think that the game dev, is an art, so I never trust the AI to create something in my games.
