I think 993 is the best 911 ever made. Best looking, still hand made, superb quality and still had the original Porsche spirit and that traditional 5-gauge layout.
Sure the new ones are faster but who cares? 964 and 993 are the pinnacle of Porsche to me.
These days cars are too powerful for the road. I love the doors of 993.

+1. .. Agreed, your speaking to the choir. ..However in the garage is the '98 Carrera S (993) I'd order in June of '97. .. Passed on the 4S 4wd sticking with the lighter rear 2wd C2S 3.8l. .. Then checked all the options, well very many. .. Whole hog, as the saying goes. .. Man, I love the look and ride of the 17"x9 Cup II alloys. .. 99% stock w/ a little HiFi technology help ( fully active/DSP w/ ATC UK drivers) .. All stealth, of course. .. It’s an unstressed engine, built to withstand pretty much a lot of hammering. Super strong units. Having just done a euro tour France/Spain 2500miles in 2.5 weeks at temps of 38 - 41 degs heat, driven for 10hrs straight at high revs. They are unrelenting, untiring and bullet proof.

@@invictusporsche you won’t regret it, I’ve done 3 huge European tours in mine, I can assure you this car is robust and tireless and with the seats you won’t feel a thing after a 15 hour drive, with a well set up suspension you will marvel at the balance on high speed corners. On my last trip I stayed strictly on secondary between Calais and Alicante. I was having so much fun I rarely stopped to rest except for fuel and a night stop Toulouse. Amazing cars considering they are near 30years old now

I just purchased a 1997 993. While it’s the base Carrera with some nice options, I love the feel and handling of this car! Only 37000 miles with all its service records, the price was steep. But I plan on doing a couple of SWern USA trips in the car in the spring. 1-2000 miles each. Then back to the East coast where my 992 C2S awaits with at least 1 trip to the Canadian maritimes planned.

I own a 99 996 coupe and have always hated the pop-up spoiler as a gemic. Yes I understand it provides some downforce but just see it as an errection when it goes above 40. I've always thought the 993 was the best 911 but I'm not willing to pay the prices to own one. I forgot it has the same tacky spoiler as my 996. I also noticed many design ques of the 993 in the 996 especially when viewed from the rear
I hear you, some people love the rear spoiler up and some despise it. Do you think Porsche made a mistake by having one that deploys at speed?

It’s funny. I love these but I currently have a 997.2 CS2 PDK which is also amazing. Any Porsche sports car driver of around the same year or earlier says hello or at least a nod. The new Porsche drivers in the 992 gens seem to mostly look the other way. I guess they are more money? However I did see a 991 guy with a lovely silver car with deep red interior Pull up behind me at a Shell garage and he did complement me and I him. It’s a funny old world. I wonder how the new ones react to the 993 or even earlier cause round ere it’s a bit of a pompous attitude. I’m not far from invictus. I guess
All 991 and newer car drivers onwards look away, but I find from 997 and older respond but the older Aircooled car drivers( mostly long term owners I suspect) always wave or flash
A lot of the 992 owners are new to 911 and may not know the etiquette of waving to other 911 owners whereas the old 911 folk know the deal. Keep smiling and enjoining your car.

To all the guys leaving the rear spoilers always up. What’s up with that? Makes no sense and looks not cool.
I guess it is to show that it is functional in our videos. When normal driving I leave it down and only goes up as the speed does

The 993s look nice, but just buy a 996. They are better performers and half the price.
A very different car, 996 very capable but people that want 993 is because they want to experience air cooled
964 is the best, the 993 doesn’t look great at the front but all about opinions.
The 993 has a slightly cleaner appearance, 964 is beautiful too.
I think 993 looks better. 964 sloped rear isn't good looking. But I like the 964 as well.
@@detonator2112 really, I always thought it looked mean at the back and is in keeping with the traditional front of AC. Good to have differing opinions though, I’ve just never liked the front of the 993 for some reason.
@@davidwills3107 Weird. I think the 993 front is a great mix between old and new. Almost all new 911's look a lot like 993 from the front. It's generally liked styling so Porsche intentionally moved there. It's not even that much different, only the cannons were smoothed.
They are beautiful but I could not afford
