😂
Bazinga 😅
Thanks Jason for reminding me I don't have HK/Porsche money.
Nonsense, you can get a top trim Cayman from 06-07 in great shape for $26-30,000. Not mention if you got kids you could get a Cayenne, the TDI version is actually a solid daily.
This is exactly the kind of relatable content ive been looking for.
Yeah yeah I get it.
Like I say in the intro it’s hard to be into Porsche 911s without coming off like a massive cocksucker so it is what it is
@@JamesReeves *straps on kneepads, sighs*
@@JamesReeves don’t apologize for hard work and success bro
Hey, at least it’s not a 993 Turbo/Turbo S….or a 996
@erics.5785 993 Turbo/Turbo S is my dream car. 996 don't belong in the same sentence...
James Reeves’ personal channel is a channel for men’s content. Cars are a guy thing. What’s next on the docket? Explosives? Large hobby rockets? Knives? Survival techniques? Lego engines? Armored MMA? English War Bow? Moonshining?
Street fighter II review? 😂
I can't wait to hear a James Reeves overview of the Roman Empire!
Definitely hoping it's the large hobby rockets
You forgot the last checkbox: "All of the above"
I'm here for it!
You know James, I hear Donut Media needs a new host...
He'd need to do meth to have as much energy as those kids on donut
The photography is pretty amazing here, the drone work especially. Loved the tour along the road that looks like it’s below sea level.
Thank you
993 was the best generation of the 911 in my opinion. Fantastic taste.
997 for me but 993s are nice too.
Not only are you an H&K guy but you’re also a 911 guy. I just finished a slant nose conversion on my 930 Turbo. You’re a man after my own heart 😂
Nice
babe wake up! the new James Reeves video just dropped
James, as a sanctimonious boomer 1911 shooter and coincidentally a Porschephile, please allow me to congratulate you on your Porsche Enlightenment. The Greatest 911, the last air-cooled, the last REAL 911, and also the BEST. The 993 is it! Nothing like the snarl of an air cooled flat six Porsche engine in its high rev power curve. AND you bought it in the best and most proper color for a Porsche to boot! I will no longer be annoyed by your too-handsome face and too cute millennial shorts, or your lack of proper appreciation of revolvers and other old guns. I bet you pal Clint Smith is proud of you!
This is one of the most inspiring Porsche 993 videos I’ve ever seen. I own a 1995 993 for two years now. Have no complains, no crazy maintenance cost, just smiles and thumbs up from people when Im driving around.
The 993 is the pinnacle of style, power, grace, and is timeless.
Of course James is a Porsche guy .... It just makes sense
Yup, he lures you into thinking he’s a regular guy….. Porsche, fancy guns, what’s next? His own plane?
I've owned my 993 C2 for 15 years now, and even shipped it to Europe and back for a long vacation. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned, and continues to put a smile on my face every time I drive it. Congratulations, and I hope you enjoy it in great health and for many years to come!
The 90s being vintage hit me right in the ball bag
Okay, but James where is mail room?
Hey, I’ve been in the military for 20 years, love and own a 993, & no one at work knows. I don’t have it for that reason. I love the beautiful looks, high quality, analog everything, and working on it myself. Not all Porsche owners are arrogant, mean, selfish, etc, etc. Some just love the cars for what they are and what they were meant to do.
I bought my 993 in February 1997. Still love it.
Nicely said and congrats on the 993. I had a 993, now a late 964. Totally agree that the classic 911s are more engaging and simpler.
This is the first video of a series that ends with James in a white F355 with a mullet, and boy am I here for it..
The Van Halen/Hagar analogy is perfect
My algorithm force feeds me nothing but firearms and Porsche content. This was an unexpected overlap.
Welcome to the 993 owners club 👍 Glad you got a JDM car that wasn't a rust bucket. Mine is polar silver too but with the black and grey interior. Mine is a 6-spd and AWD. I had to have the AWD in a manual, period. So much fun doing low-medium speed high RPM drifts on super curvy mountain roads ❤❤ I love it when Varioram kicks in!!!
I totally agree.. A 993 911 turbo is my favorite Porsche. I used to watch Bad Boys over and over just to see that car in action lol
There’s no way u went out of your way to buy a RoW 993 and bought a fricken TIPTRONIC
He probably can’t drive a manual
Tip is great, having a sunroof is fricken stupid, putting 20kilos on the highest point of the far😉. Says me as a sunroof delete 993 tip owner.
Kei cars and now an air cooled porsche, what's next? I have no idea where this is going, but I am absolutely here for it
I work for a corporate body shop. We had a 992 last week. Can’t believe how easy it was to get parts for and how easy it was to repair.
The 964 and 993 are great cars. 996 fried egg lights and the grenade IMS bearings were a car enthusiast passion killer.
It’s interesting though that the 996 hit rock bottom before COVID and is now getting recognised as a classic. I think having the IMS failure reputation is a good thing because then only true enthusiasts will be interested in getting one as the last true analog 911 before the 997 was released. Most forget that the 997.1 also had the same engine issues with higher chances of bore scoring than the original 996
My late father was a Porsche guy. When I was a little kid I would follow him around his garage while he built his own race cars from wrecked 911’s. He built 3 different race cars over the years and one of his fastest and best builds was from two wrecked 993’… one was crashed in the front and the other the rear. He basically cut the cars in half and welded the good halves back together.
In his first race he rolled the cad about 8 times at about 120mph… juts to rebuild the car again lol. The second time he rebuilt it he didn’t cross the wiring for the ABS system (which was the cause of the roll over crash lol). When I got to be about 18 the 993 race car became my track car as dad had “graduated” to GT3 Cup cars.
I have his first Porsche that he bought in my garage going through a mile restoration. It’s a 77’ euro spec that he bought while he lived in Germany for a few years. When he moved back home he imported the car to bring it with him (in about 1982, I was born in 85’).
Didn’t know we’re a car channel now but I’m all for it and I agree
As both a car enthusiast (/youtuber) and firearms enthusiast- you revealing your beautiful Porsche was a great move lol
Wasn't expecting a JDM Porsche, But she is absolutely gorgeous. 😍👍
(Although, It kinda makes sense considering where your van came from.)
The 993 (my bad, edit 996 changed to 993) is georgous and it is mechanically solid. Great purchase and I hate to admit it, but it suits you, short shorts and all. You will look like a damn movie star in that thing, pretty boy!
993. 996 is ugly.
@@nicholasgiardinaI know it’s an unpopular opinion but I actually prefer the 996
I think mid to late 90s cars in general are the perfect bridge between the classic and contemporary. Tactile and refined.
As for the 993...beautiful.
If you don’t have 993 money I’d recommend the 981 Cayman/Boxster. They are the last car with N/A engines and 2/3 of the parts are from the 911. A pretty analog car and handles better than the 911. Bullet proof reliability and the maintenance is easy with a Quick Jack lift. Porsches are designed to be easy to work on once service panels are removed.
The 981 has permanent drive axles and permanent timing chain.
This year is major service year for mine. Plugs, oil, filter, PDK fluid, front rotors and pads.
All this is only $500 and a day or so of wrenching. I buy my Mobil One oil from Walmart.
Major service interval is 40,000 miles.
You can get a S model of these (315/330 hp @ 3,100 lbs) with a few miles for less than 45,000 and they’re worth every penny.
🤫 shhh… don’t give it away man
So whats your Porsche Gun
Walther Q4 Steel Frame....of course.
Gotta be a P7.
I get an eye twitch when people call you "Jason Reeves", so I sympathize. Also, check out Magnus Walker if you like Porsche stuff.
993 was always my favorite 911, last of the air cooled Porsches, at the same time it's modern enough with its timeless body design, and much sexier than any of the previous 911s, huge improvement over 964.
True about the Porsche... 993 is the king... but as a 90's kid I didn't like the Sammy Hagar comment. I grew up with Balance, F.U.C.*, 5150 and OU812. That was much better era for sure. Roth was always a clown to me. Cheers. 😁
That 993 is clean! Those multi piece rims set it off nicely.
This is the car that’s waiting for me when I get to heaven. Until then my 1985 Chevy Citation gets me by.
Congrats, James. She's beautiful. I never owned a Porsche, but I did own two Audi's, my favorite being the S4 with the supercharged V6 and all the other bells and whistles on board. My current wife was afraid I'd kill myself in it after needed a new set of four after less than 22k miles, and yes, I rotated them as req'd. But man, I loved that ride.
Ferris Bueller got into guns and legally changed his name to James Reeves
My dad had one of these when I was a kid. I remember him racing from stoplight to stoplight thumping praga khan.
You’re going to spark a major debate on the “best looking 911” comment. Plenty of smart people prefer the 930 Turbo, the 60’s 911 or the 997. That said, the debate is what makes it fun. Your car is gorgeous and the commentary is fantastic!
Man, makes me wish I kept my vintage 2003 Madza Protege in good condition.
Bro, I knew you were a fan of Kei Cars, but also the 993? Marry me.
996 turbo looks better than the carrera. I’d love to buy a 993 but uhhhh, I’m poor 😅 The 996 is still “affordable” but sooner or later they’re going to appreciate.
Welcome to the Porsche fam James, just remember to never ask Ferdinand what he was doing in 1939 (you picked a great way to start with a 993)
Sick dude! I swore when I was younger that I’d never sell my s2000 until I could buy a 993, I now have 3 kids and no s2000…. Nor 993. I’ve been looking again the last few months and so this is kind of funny. I guess we all really do enjoy the same shit. Nice car man! Really nice score
This was incredibly well done! When do we get 997 vs 991? The rollers with similar color cars is perfect. Excellent videography!
I have a 996.1 that is quick handles well and very comfortable. The headlights remind me of a Can Am car.
You're a great gun reviewer! You cover all the points, you know all the facts
I just realized this is a Tip car. Probably was quite a bit cheaper than the G50 box.
Al Pacino's great azz line lives in my head rent free ❤❤
I read the director made him do so many takes he finally snapped and that’s the one they used.
love the car james, always loved these myself as a 90s child
So now we know how to pronounce your name wrong when we see you every time
Jamie Re Vees?
Why??? Why NOT?? You find one of these you can afford it’s a MUST HAVE. Class 👌🏼
My grandfather was the American Colonel that bought the 916 prototype "Brutus" from Dr. Ferdinand Piech. Always made sure to correct everyone that did not pronounce it correctly as POOR SHUHHHH
I love the self loathing Porsche ownership lol. Keep up the great content
Damn that's a nice Porsche James. Those are my favorite cars style wise. The 911 is a timeless design.
But James ive heard you say Canik and Not janik
Porsche 911 GT3 is peak performance!
I was literally just talking myself out of buying an air cooled Porsche, how could you do this to me James
A 993 would be nice, being a Gun Nut, Porsches and guns are in perfect alignment, I love guns and have three Porsches, 996 Turbo, 997 Cab, 958 Cayenne GTS. Guns & Porsches go hand in hand!
Agreed. 993 is clearly the best looking one.
Great video and appreciate the commentary. Beautiful car.
Excellent choice - I'm impressed... an HK & Porsche enthusiast.
I have a 1995 polar silver 968 cabriolet 6 speed that I daily drive and love. Your 993 is beautiful. Enjoy her and drive her as much as you can, it’s all about the experience. Nice choice.
The 993 is very cool looking. I want to drive one to see what it is like compared to the more modern 911s. The 992.1 is pretty awesome though
Someone get this man some manufacturer press cars.
Fantastic, have fun with that beautiful car!
We share most of the same gun and car brand likes. I could not afford "air cooled" money back in 2020 so I ended up going with a 997. I also had a 1969 911 T 25 years ago as a teenager. It was just an old slow car back then.
Damnit man! Now I have to get one of these things! Prettiest looking 911 ever.
Yeah, I've been looking for a '95 Carrera 2 manual coupe to customize (and hotrod). It's such a beautiful car, the perfect size, incredible driving dynamics that you can adjust to suit exactly your preferences...and the SOUND! No water jacketed engine can ever match the sound of those finned cylinders.
Beautiful car. Especially when you consider the next gen
what is the track ID at the start? sounds like a choon! Nice video too :) love the 993
I fell in love when the 993 was affordable.
Much like the Audi RS2 of the same era, they are now stupid money just in time for me to have adult money.
Now I have a Coupe Quattro. 🤷♂️
It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the 993 WAS the best looking before the 992 (most recent generation) came out. Something about the new 992 is just screams perfect.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if James started review Cuban mail order brides, and "The best underground poker in FL"
Awesome video! I 1000% (to borrow the phrase) agree that performance has been democratized, and that's not how I would drive a car like that anyway. So who cares, as long as it at least performs well in everyday driving alongside modern traffic.
James, absolutely awesome video! This vehicle content and in the past are very informative and entertaining.
Would not mind more in the future.
You have excellent taste in vehicles. .
well done James and congratulations on your 993! personally I find a 930 series whale tail be more attractive. However, your argument to the public court in support of the 993, for more daily driving style is quite convincing and true. The end of the air cooled engines was the end of a dynasty. 👍
Congrats, you have great taste in cars as well as guns! I feel like my 718 Cayman will be similarly looked on in the future as the last mid-engine Porsche with a stick, as they’ll be going fully electric next year. The 718 is small like 911’s used to be, and is a very mature model that’s had most of the kinks worked out, and you still get real buttons for everything, before they switched to glossy touch controls. Love it as a sports car, but I can’t deny the classic appeal of your 993. Welcome to the Porsche family!
You should do this full time!
As much as I love this car, the Porsche 959 is the absolute peak of the automotive aesthetics.
I have two, bought them new, yes I'm old. A drive in either still makes my day. My 18 GT3 would go up for sale long before either 993. Collectors (aka classless non-drivers) value these in stock form. Keep yours forever. Modify it out the wazoo. You will never have a justification to sell it. Accept that it is now a part of you. Easier that way.
Had James pinned as a BMW guy but with all the short shorts yeah Porsche makes sense
I have a black on black Porsche 993 C2S with the wide body flares and split grill. >30K. I'm the 2nd owner and the car has never been hit.
That rim shot at 8:25 is perfect
Da Phuck?? James everyone knows that Van Hagar was far better than Van Halen with David Lee Roth, however comma that said you are right that is one sweet Porsche 911 993. Simply a classic, great video as always keep your awesome work coming. (:
992 could be the last of the mass production ICE manuals. Your 993? James, that's a tiptronic.
Thank you for this enthusiastic great video. Greetings form Germany
Glad you are a Land Cruiser and P Car guy counselor! A legend of your prestige needs a classy 911 well done. If I graduate from being a poor I'll snag a Porsche. Be well excellent video.
I was very fortunate to purchase mine in 2017.
Great style and an awesome car. Love your car reviews James.
Cars, not politics
Love the pivot on content 🔥
You'll always be Jason Reeves to me ❤.. 😂
P90 in back ground look epic.
