There's a show called Designated Survivor with Keifer Sutherland where a terrorist bombs the entire congress in one sitting and he becomes president. While he isn't the janitor he's pretty low in rank in terms of political power. Interesting show but season 2 has been lacking.

Actually the government would use none of these 4 bunkers, because they are not secret anymore. I'm a 100% sure that they already have a lot bigger and safer bunkers that are kept secret, because otherwise the public wouldnt know about the 4 original bunkers.

This is a sound thought, but you can't hardly keep it a secret, if you dig a huge bunker somewhere into a mountain, not in the day of espionage satellites, the internet and such stuff.
A kid with a smartphone photographing a huge tunneling machine in a village just outside Washington D.C., within the flight radius of Marine 1, could blow the secrecy of such a bunker building operation.
So basically, the chance that they're actually still using these 4 bunkers is pretty high.
The only thing I could think off which they may could keep a secret, is if the president, e.g. in the event of a nuclear attack on the US, evacuates via Airforce 1 to a remote, secure and secret Airforce base somewhere in the midwest, where nukes most likely wouldn't be shot at or only in small number, so you could reliably destroy the ICBM's heading for that location before they hit.
The reasoning would be the following: Although Airforce 1 in theory could stay in the air a few weeks nonstop, it would only postpone the death of this part of US government, if e.g. the whole surface becomes irradiated from the nuclear post-apocalypse within weeks and they have nowhere to land.
Also this ability depends on fuel resupply planes loading up fuel on the ground, taking off and keeping Airforce 1 in the air. This may work well in a peaceful world, but in a world that goes to shit thanks to an active nuclear war, this wouldn't work well.
So Airforce 1 needs a place where it could land safely and evacuate everyone inside Airforce 1 into a nearby fallout shelter, where they can hold out years to come without resupplying from the outside.
This place can't be near some of the highly populated areas of the US, so the traditional 4 bunkers are not an option, not even the one in Cheyenne, since Denver is near and Cheyenne is one of the 4 publicly known bunkers.
So they must have a secret airforce base (or atleast a known airforce base with a secret bunker) somewhere in the midwest.
It could be even thinkable, since military bases are prime targets for nuclear warheads, that they try to not build a military base around such a bunker but just deforest a large enough area, make it plain and on the same level so a plane, although it is clearly not a safe asphalt runway, the size of Airforce 1 could land there.
Noone would shoot an nuclear ICBM on a seemingly random barren strip in a forest, if they don't know, that something is there.

The bunker complexes were constructed when a Soviet manned bomber dropping fission weapons was viewed as the primary threat. By the time they were completed, the threat had evolved into the ICBM armed with a thermonuclear warhead, much more powerful than the typical fission warhead. Therefore, every bunker depicted is probably vulnerable to a direct hit from a megaton-range weapon. Re-attacks might be necessary in some cases to ensure destruction.

The problem with all this especially with government agencies is that when something apocalyptic happens, people go into survival mode and have no reason to help rebuild the country, rather they’ll focus on protecting themself and their family making all this practically useless.
Well that's if they're dumb. Personally me if I was one of these important individuals we're either all fucked or we aren't. I see no reason preserving myself and family for a world that basically no longer exists. If I had the chance to survive and rebuild I'd take that or i,'d rather not survive at all. Okay so there's this book called The army survival manual and I recommend that you read it it has recommendations on how to produce Survival equipment and how to survive like camping, how to make a Dakota fire hole edible non-edible plants and how to test readability

No the military will still be a functional and coherent entity. In a nuclear war the majority of Americans would still be alive and they would depend on the military as their only source of protection and source of food. Sure America would be a de facto dictatorship but it wouldn’t be lawless. Many small cities and the outer edges of large cities would still be fully intact and the military would still have the capacity to protect the nation. Sure there would probably be insurgencies, opportunists, and loss of communication in some areas but the government would likely be able to maintain control over the continuous United States and even Canada if NATO still existed and the two nations were cooperating.
But honestly, did you see the revealed footage from the jan 6th commision of those stupid stuffy democrats? They were so busy with "how can we get things back to normal" and completely disgregarded survival instincts. I think in that scenario that was a bad response, but in this kind of apocalyptic scenario maybe that would actually be a good thing

Every two weeks is a lack of Wendover called Doomwendover
me and my family have created a huge bunker under a field and enough supplies to last 1,000 people 200 years we have created a bunker for our small town. We also have an armory in the bunker in case of overpopulation I know it sounds terrible. Also we have prints of the important 3 US documents in the bunker class rooms kitchens and stuff like that. About the armoury part is also when we or our descendants decide to come out of the bunker we are prepared to face whatever dangers have come to our area.

Most of these plans included falling apart. You'd just have spare stuff stored around the country and lots of local organisation to fight back the communists and keep power running. If the municipality can keep basic stuff going, state level doesn't have to step in.

I'm not saying I agree with the decision--I really don't know--but whether it was morally defensible to drop the atom bombs on Japan is genuinely debatable. It's hard to judge from our current perch in history, but the times during WW2 were insane. The firebombing that went on daily in Japan and parts of Europe was arguably MUCH worse than the atom bombs, and there's something to be said for a display of force so overwhelming that it makes continued resistance look like obvious suicide. The Japanese war mongers talked a good game, but it was a lot less believable once an entire city got wiped off the map with a single bomb. Japan at the time had a cultural attitude of "death over defeat" down to the last child in the last village. They may have needed the wake up call. Of course, it's pretty easy to make the rational argument for it, and quite another to connect with the actual level of horror and tragedy that resulted. That's why I'm on the fence about it. For me, it really boils down to a simple question: Does the calculus of lives saved for ending the war early override any other concern? I'm not so sure about that. At the very least, I don't think any of us are in a position to judge those who made the decision.

The federal arc is 300 miles (roughly 1 hour of flight with the engine wide open for selected helicopters). I know some of the big ones can do over 1000 miles, but from what an old friend told me, it’s the time element. The most they are going to have is a hour (not that I believe we’d get any warning). There are a lot of old coal mines in those mountains that could be repurposed. A good example might be something like Iron Mountain - locals would be used to trucks and big vehicles bringing in documents on infinite retention for storage, and maybe the Supreme Court comes in on one of those trailers. If it got to be a “shooting war,” we’re doomed. We can’t even handle a virus without being ready to kill each other over masks and toilet paper. If it was something like the Blitz in London, we wouldn’t need an outside enemy, we’d kill each other off for the last Pepsi.
The government built a backup Congressional facility capable of housing all members plus family and staff beneath a luxury resort called the Greenbrier in the 1960s without any significant interruption in resort operations and in a way that it remained secret until it was accidentally revealed in 1990. It's a mistake to think one of the top five most classified documents in the United States is not going to have new secret communications, structures, etc.
During a nuclear war of a scale necessary to use those bunkers knowledge of their location negates their usefulness and it means each will have on or more large warheads specifically targetting it.
The current model of AF1 (which dates to 2001) is capable of remaining aloft for at least one month. The new one about to be delivered is likely to be even longer. Given the choice the President would be placed on-board a Doomsday command plane anyway and they're meant to stay up more or less until water/food runs out. Airborne refuelling aircraft for sustaining AF1 over the US and the Doomsday plane network exist separately from other refuelling systems and there's nothing to prevent the refuelling aircraft from using strategic reserves in the US, Canada and elsewhere to keep supply constant.
The publicly known bunkers are unlikely to even have been all of the bunkers that had been built during that time and maintained and that still might be maintained today. Redundancy is a huge thing in COG planning when it's emerged meaning that there are like one or two backup sites for Defense, Congress, Judiciary, President, etc., dating back into the Cold War and given the exposure of the sites known and the time elapsed since (~32 years) absolutely means new sites will have been created. Obama's "pool" or "GIANT SECRET BUNKER COMPLEX ON THE WHITE HOUSE GROUNDS" still has some people believing it was actually recreational facilities that were being built there. The idea that the military would be unable to continue building secret bunkers for these tasks in the present time is absurd.
