  • In today’s episode, we talked about body image in pregnancy, something that can look totally different for everyone. I have a lot of thoughts on this one but one thing’s for sure, I have so much respect for all the changes my body is going through to grow this little baby! It’s been so crazy to watch my body change and grow every day and I’m honestly so excited to keep watching all the changes happen. Let us know your personal experience with body image in pregnancy in the comments below, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Lasts of personal growth is coming your way Jonus. I mean that with the utmost kindness btw. .. Myk's body will change and her priorities will be caring for baby, getting desperate needed sleep and rest. She won't be in theind space not have the time to 'work out' like you might expect get too. You will need patience, and to let go of a LOT of your pre conceived ideas and expectations as to how life will be post baby....

If you have access to a pool, water aerobics is amazing during pregnancy. It removed the weight of baby and makes your back and things just feel better!

Aww, MyKayla, you will be surprised how quickly you get back to what your pre-pregnancy body was! I'm short as well and I struggled with my body image during pregnancy because I got huge at the end but I'm almost 6 months postpartum now and I'm pretty much back to where I was before without really "trying". It takes time, but I promise, it isn't as scary as it seems right now!

The weight you gain isn't just what the baby weighs ..your blood volume will increase by a third, the placenta also adds to the weight. And yes, much needed fat stores to sustain you in the weeks after you have baby.

You gain weight for more than just the actual 8ish lbs the infant will weigh for the placenta, fluid, extra blood, etc. The important thing is that the baby is growing how it should. Congrats on the pregnancy!

I’m a little concerned her doctor has not explained how much weight she’s expected to gain or not through pregnancy

If you aren’t staying hydrated working out is not going to go well especially if you are pregnant. That’s probably why you were getting crampy, and feeling nauseous.
I would workout- walk, yoga, Pilates, body weight movement, water aerobics, if you are too low on energy and I think you are right about eating and having energy. Take emergen-c, electrolytes, etc. after talking with your doctor. Working out will give you confidence and help with your mood so you won’t be depressed. Especially post partum. The itchy skin is your stomach stretching you need to keep oiling it.

McKayla, long walks, swimming, gentle yoga - these might be good activities for you during this time. Walking is a great exercise and you can continue that with the pram.

The itchiness is from your skin stretching. It doesn’t cause stretch marks

It's ok to not "love" being pregnant. MyKayla, try specific prenatal workouts or just walking to keep your body moving. It's very hard when you've been so sick, that was my experience too with my second pregnancy. Try not to focus on the weight gain--your dr will tell you if you've gained too little/too much. Hang in there, try to view working out as something more for your mental health during pregnancy.

Just continue to eat healthy during pregnancy and not using pregnancy as an excuse to overeat; and you will be back to your normal body in no time. I went back to work after 6 weeks and without even trying, you would not have known i had a baby. I also never worked out during pregnancy. I actually only started working out after my second child and it was because I felt out of shape, not because of weight. You will do just fine and you look beautiful.

Your body will do what it needs. Just try to relax and it’s okay to say to some people I don’t want to know right now. Sometimes to many people give advice and they are not you and your body. BTW with my first I lost 20 pounds and only gained back 12 Ibs back. I was sick so they took him 9 weeks early and he was 4lbs 5oz and 12 1/2” long and perfect. I would walk every night. Some slower than others 😂😂.

Talk to Shawn Johnson and Chelsea Memmel they both recovered and are doing great and they were both extreme athletes like you. God bless and I hope the rest of pregnancy and birth goes great.

Keep your abs tight which yours would be and your body will bounce back - remember it’s a process and a choice you have made so the love will win all- take iron for your cramps

They're finding out the baby's SEX, not gender. Gender is socially constructed so it's not something anyone can find out til they're at least 3, and certainly not inutero...

during the first trimester you should gain 2-4Ibs total and then for the 2nd and 3rd you should gain .5-1lbs per week

If you breast feed you will lose the baby weight. Also walking and yoga can help with the birth being easier…but definitely low impact.

My husband gets leg and foot cramps at night… it is typically related to salt and dehydration

Not necessarily. Mine held the weight til I stopped breastfeeding and then, when I weaned and went back to harder workouts, it fell off. Be careful about trying to lose weight while breastfeeding because it can affect supply! ❤

With my first the weight fell off while breastfeeding. Not the case with my second. I fed him twice as long (almost a year) and the only thing that got the weight off was exercise.
