First time doing gymnastics IN TWO YEARS! 3 months postpartum 😱

  • I went back to my old gym Desert Lights and did a quick little gymnastics practice with Coach Bob’s help! I’ve only worked out a few times since giving birth and I haven’t done any gymnastics at all for 2 years so this was kinda rough. But I’m thinking it would be fun to get back in shape again and play around in the gym just for fun! What do you guys think? How did I do??

He was great! In contrast to “Do a muscle up?” Jonas? Come ON, dude. It’s clear that he doesn’t have a clue what pregnancy does to your previous body. And Mykayla looks FANTASTIC.

@JeanneNorthcutt He was kinda intolerant/inpatient during the first workout, too. Bob showed the right amount of body respect, intelligent understanding of what a body can/should be able to do after surgery and recovery, and emotional support. Maxing out or shaming someone into doing more has never made someone better.

After having my son going back to my first dance class I could barely get throu the class and was sore for days. I quickly after a few months got back into my groove. I was so upset with my lack of ability but I'm so proud of where I am now. Gymnastics will always be in you and a part of you, don't be too hard on yourself 💪❤

I know that feeling! When I returned to leading group exercise instruction after 3 years off from doing anything I was so discouraged and my first thought was to say "forget it!" But several months later, I was back on track and on my way to being in even better shape and condition than I was before getting pregnant!

Don't worry too much about how hard it's going to be. The good news is that your body will bounce back pretty quickly once you get back into a routine and consistent training, and that's because of all the previous work you've put into yourself. Your muscles will adapt faster than if you were a beginner and you'll be back to where you want to be in no time ♡ just take it slow and stay safe, focus on your form and building your strength back up. The rest will follow!

You did a great job! And you looked great. I would suggest working on that arm strength because that baby isn't going to get any lighter. My sister used to use her son as part of her weight training. Seriously, your back handspring was great. Bob was the perfect cheerleader/spotter/motivator. I'm glad he was cautious as well. I'm pretty sure he hasn't had to deal with too many post baby gymnasts. Stretching is good for you though. You will feel better and less stressed if you get back to doing it. And he's right about easing back into fitness instead of waiting for the prefect time. There's never a perfect time when you have a baby. You aren't weak. You created that beautiful baby and your body is recovering. And you LOOK amazing.

This is rediculous. I am 42 and only go into a gym once every few years but I can go straight up to high beam and master cartwheels and handstands and tumble just fine on a tumble trek. My joints are too old for hard floor tumbling now, but even in my thirties after four kids I could tumble a level 6 pass on floor when I randomly walked into a gym after years out of a gym. Why can Olympic gymnast not do the same.
