- Habichuelas con Dulce Dominicana is a Dominican Sweet Beans Dessert that we traditionally eat on Good Friday just in time for Easter. This easy to make Dominican recipe is a sweet treat is great to share with family & friends. You can enjoy Habichuelas con Dulce either hot or cold-- the choice is up to you. You can also make habichuelas con dulce with coconut milk or without. The choice is entirely up to you! My favorite part of this dish are the batatas and galletas de leche! Enjoy and don't forget to like & subscribe.
1 ½ Bags of Red Dominican Beans
1 cup Whole Milk
3 cans of Evaporated Milk (4 ½ cups)
*sub one can for coconut milk if you like it with coco milk
1 can Sweet Condensed Milk
2 cups Sugar
¼ tsp Salt
1 tsp Ground Nutmeg
½ tbs Ground Cinnamon
2 tbs Vanilla Extract
3 Cinnamon Sticks
½ tbs Cloves
2-3 Batatas Cubed
¼ Cup Raisins

La hice hoy y Esta deliciosa. Mi esposo es dominicano yo soy francesa pero cocino mucho lo que a el le gusta que es la conida dominicana! El no es el mas facil a cuanto a comida, sus primeras palabras fueron” oooh diooss, esta buenicima” entiendo que me fue bien!! Lol Use 2 lb de habichuela roja, 1 1/2 cup de leche entera, 3 can de leche evaporada, 1 can de leche condensada, no use azucar. Todo lo otro mas o menos igual en quantidad.. esta riquicima y espesa como nos gusta. A mi esposo le gusta callente y fria.. a mi y mis hijos nos encanta fria de la nevera asi que manana estara perfecta! Gracias, estuvo facil de realizar!
How funny, I was going to ask you about this and then I decided to look through the playlist to see if you had already covered it.
I first tried this near Miches, DR when I visited the DR with my fiancee to visit abuelita.
They made it and we all drank it late at night before going back home. When they handed me the Solo cup of this stuff it was scary. Drinking beans from a Solo cup as a dessert... I'm used to having my beans on top of white rice and next to chicken, so yeah, I was freaking out on the down low but I didn't want to be a punk. Besides can't say no thanks to abuelita. 😀
After the first sip I was hooked.
Habichuela con dulce is some good stuff. Loved it. Now that the weather is cooling down here in South Florida I'm definitely going to give the recipe a try.

Update: so i made it and surprised him with the dessert when he came home from work and he tried it. He said it reminded him of the one his madrina makes and that it was SOOO good! I WAS SOO PROUD LOL. 👍

I like it both cold and hot! Just tried this and it’s pretty delicious. I didn’t use the condensed milk because my mom doesn’t use it and I didn’t want it too be too sweet. I did add the coconut cream as well. I do think it came out too creamy and not sweet enough. Next time I would skip the coconut cream. Can you use exact pounds or measurements in the future? I ended up doing a lot more beans than anticipated because I didn’t know how much weight was 1 bag. Also, when do You add the salt?

Yo creo que soy el unico dominicano del mundo que no come habichuelas con dulce.😫 De la unica forma que yo como habichuelas es si es salada, pero si tiene dulce no me la como. Ami hablame de moro de guandules y pescado guisado con CoCo. Eso si me gusta y no me canso de comerlo.
