- I was really very excited to fly Ethiopian Airlines and to transfer at Addis Ababa. The airport handles impressive waves of connecting passengers when the flights keep coming in... I know terminal capacity has been added just some years ago, so there is investment which is nice to see in this part of the world.
I always like to say Ethiopian Airlines is like an impressive small Emirates in Africa. So the airport then must be like a small Dubai? I am honestly not a big fan of DXB during the overcrowded times, and ADD did not do so bad in comparison.

Nice airport review, the new large airport that will be built in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia outside Addis Abeba will be a world class airport making it very convenient for passengers.

I travel next Friday also. Little bit afraid, if I have to buy a Transit Visa. The homepage says up to 6hours is no need in Transit but it’s my first trip to Afrika..
Hi, enjoy your upcoming trip! The week after next I actually also fly to Johannesburg again, but this time via Doha... If you transit through ADD on two international flights without entering Ethiopia there is no transit visa needed.

Hello, Many thanks for reaching out. In my case I was only transiting between international flights on a single ticket. I suggest you consult your airline to make sure you will be transported without a visa in the passport. Also, Ethiopian Airlines publish information about visa on arrival. You can search for their 'guideline to visa on arrival to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia'. Have a great trip and stay safe!
Yes, you can get "visa on arrival" @Bole international airport up to 3 months. I got that service last year on September.

Anyone with an average intelligence can get around Bole Airport. The signs are very clear in English!

Addis Abeba, Ethiopia is NOT a bad place as you claimed, nothing is "confusing" as the gates and everythingthing in the airport are very well marked. Eventhough the english language is not official in Ethiopia, so many people do speak it.
