    Tip: I discovered that frozen corn is cheaper and tastes INFINITELY better than canned corn. It tastes like fresh corn :D blegh canned corn tastes so weird
    Also if you want to save money on veggies, frozen are way cheaper than fresh, and as long as you cook them, they taste basically the same as fresh

      Frozen veg and fruit are the best!! You dont throw away money because you can actually finish before they go bad. Also, supposedly they have the best nutrients because fresh loses nutrients during transport and sitting there waiting to be eaten-thats what I've heard lol.

    For anyone on a budget, buying dried beans in bulk is way cheaper than canned. More work/time/prep, but cheaper by far. And rice, oats, pasta and any grain in bulk (not prepackaged like hers) is much cheaper if you're truly struggling. We can't afford luxury items at speciality health food stores, but that's where we get our bulk ingredients

      Cheap and filling, but not nessecarily healthy, and doing vegan as cheap as possible really seems pointless, since the main thing is to be super healthy. That's like saying you're vegetarian and living off of cheetos because they're "vegetarian" I've seen people do this..

    For people who can't or don't want to eat soy/tofu, use canned jackfruit, quite good.
    And for people who can't do lentils or chickpeas, use green beans, pea's or more corn.
    And for people who can't eat tomatoes, either buy a product called nomato OR make your own, which is quite easy, just take some carrots, beet, onion, (or onion powder), celery, bay leaf, spices of choice,some water, place in pot, with lid and boil then reduce heat and simmer until veggies are soft, remove bay leaf, then blend till smooth and use like you would tomato sauce :-)
    And for the dish where it has it the rice, beans spinach etc, instead of making it into a salad you can put it on a gluten free taco shell, really good :-)

      I wish we had Aldi here in Tasmania, Australia! We only have two supermarket chains here, and fresh produce is SO expensive (e.g $5 for a single avocado, $2 for a zucchini!) compared to mainland Australia (that has Aldi's. Poor Tasmania is always last to get things. We have the highest unemployment rate and the most expensive living costs such as groceries. Everything here aside from real estate is more expensive than the mainland, it's just wrong! And locals have to pay tourist prices.)

    Hi! I inspired myself to make cheap burritos with what you show here! :) I went to walmart and got brand names of chick peas, diced chili tomatoes, iceberg lettuce and tortillas (pack of 10 the big ones)! I also used 2 onions that I had at home from a big 10 pounds bag that I got a 2$ on sale some weeks ago! I cooked my 2 onions with the tomatoes and all chick peas with some salt and pepper. Once the onions were tender I squished some of the chick peas to thicken everything up and get rid of the water. I put 2 big scoops in each tortillas with a huge handful of chopped lettuce! Depending on your appetite it can make you from 4 to 8 meals I think! I'm a big eater so 4 for me! :D
    Chick peas: 0.77$
    Tomatoes: 1.00$
    Lettuce: 1.00$ (it was on sale! Yay!)
    Tortillas: 3.40$
    Onions: From my big bag probably 0.20$
    And most important of all! The only dishes I had where a cutting board, a knife, a wood spoon and a pan! Too many videos never talk about the damn dishes! "You'll save so much time... that you'll spend cleaning!" I love love love how you cook eeeeverything in one pan! lol

    This was great! Genuinely low budget, realistic meal sizes and food that actually looks like something most people would eat- not to mention easy/quick. And I like that you didn't use anything extra other than salt (I agree with you, salt is totally different- everyone has salt). Most bitches be like "and i'm just adding a dash of truffle oil to this because I happened to have it in my cupboard"

    I practically live in the reduced produce section of grocery stores. we have four different stores in my town and I'll hit them all up early in the morning right after they mark everything down.. I get bananas for 11¢ a lb a bag of baby kale for a dollar baby spinach for a dollar and whatever else is available. this week I scored some plantains and butternut squash for 79¢ each so yay!!! and vegan flat bread!!! I tried a sandwich I saw here. I think you made it peppers kale spinach w garlic salt n pepper on flat bread spread with tomato paste. omg yum!!!!!!

      @JennyWas13 7 лет назад +11

      Totally. I'm not vegan but do eat a lot of plant-based meals, especially as prepped meals for lunches. I spend like 30/week every week on groceries. I honestly just about fall over when I talk to some heavy meat eaters about how much they spend on food. I know some who spend almost 100/week just for 1 person!! I don't think I could ever justify that amount of money just on groceries. It's a great way to live and you save so much extra money without even having to try. Reheated pre-prepared meat is gross, anyway

    • @lisanloves
      @lisanloves 7 лет назад +13
