    Yes it gets fixed in the top corners of the box once the door has been manually wound down.

    I like to install the guides into the peg inserts on the header box then place onto wall then clamp off & level up then secure to wall (as shown in video) but then wired up motor with a rocket switch & lower bottom limit to its max with out the curtain fitted then once set up then fit curtain & set top limit

    Great Video - fitted mine in 3 hours today, great build quality and so easy to fit & operate. Make sure your drill holes on the vertical legs aren't too close to the top - leave at least 150mm to prevent the screw snagging on the inside connecting piece of the top box.
    One other thing - the upper and lower limit screws might be the wrong way round - a kind soul at the factory wrote on the inside of the box which really helped after we paid attention to it!

      @@Suhail.Khan-24 if your dimensions are correct, not at all. We measured ours 25mm too long which we fixed with a hacksaw. You’ll also need to install a jumper wire in the electrical box which is a 2 minute job.

    The hole in the top box is correct and required , 25 years fitting experience tells me the reason I couldn’t get a fix below in the tab is because it goes into a recessed lintel.

    My garage is timber framed with only drywall studs available to mount the roller box to the wall. How much weight is carried by the side rails/runners? There is substantial timber on each side of the door space to provide much stronger fixing points.

    • @oddpoppetesq.3467
      @oddpoppetesq.3467 Год назад

      I've fixed multiple Gliderol doors to new timber framed builds. It's pretty solid as long as you remember to fix the box itself in the top corners the weight is more downwards. Plus when the door is shut there is minimum weight on the guides or box 👍

      @nodrinkingproblemhere9095 2 года назад

      It is a very thin aluminum slats so cutting or driving through them can be done in no time. Noisy though.

    • @oddpoppetesq.3467
      @oddpoppetesq.3467 Год назад

      As far as insurance goes for burglars it's secured enough. As for water, depends how level your floor is, no garage door is water proof (not even sectionals and they have a nice rubber seal on the bottom panel)

  • @grahambrown5874
    @grahambrown5874 2 года назад +1

    Why are you drilling 6” deep holes in the side walls if you are only using short screws?
    The door material looks quite thin. Would it prevent someone accessing to the garage if they ran at it and smashed into it with there shoulder? I would like to see some kind of design safe certification indicating this will withstand an attack.

    • @oddpoppetesq.3467
      @oddpoppetesq.3467 Год назад

      No garage door is completely burglar proof but a roller door is locked by the motor so as far as insurance and stuff it's certified safe. I've personally installed nearly 200 Gliderol doors and the only one that got ripped out of its guides was because of a car reversing into it, I'm pretty sure no one can top that with a shoulder barge 🙂

    • @oddpoppetesq.3467
      @oddpoppetesq.3467 Год назад

      You can't. The safety mechanism of the door won't allow for that much of an angle, it would think there is an obstruction and revert to the top position

    Is it not better to have the motor outside of the roller?

    • @rollerdooruk4415
      @rollerdooruk4415  5 лет назад +1

      Scotia Jinker , not in this instance , the tubular motor offers better protection against entrapment when coupled with a box cover. If the motor was mounted externally this would make maintenance easier yes but also takes up more internal space. The tubular motor offers great running cycles so no need to maintain.

      If you can’t work out from the video how to install one of the easiest garage doors there is to install then you should just pay a fitter the £300 to do it for you. It’s probably safer and saves you screwing your hand to the guide, dropping the header on your head or messing up the limits 🙄
