- Garolla Roller Shutter Door Review. This is a quick review showing the replacement of an old up and over metal garage door with a sleek modern looking Garolla Roller Shutter Garage Door which is an electric garage door. This is NOT a sponsored video, it is my own personal opinion.
The whole system just plugs into a standard 3 pin mains wall socket.

That's a really great video and replies to questions, thanks for posting. My only reservation is that my garage has no access door other than the main door. If there is a power failure or fault on the unit is there any way to open it? Obviously if you have a side access door or similar you can use the mechanical handle.
In which case it would be very risky to install one of these, you would need an access door in case of failure or a power cut. Else you would not be able to get inside your garage.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thank you for your reply. i have just had a survey and decided on a manual up and over, very similar to what is currently fitted. The surveyor did say though that the manual winder can be fitted to an electric roller door so it operates through a small hole in the side of the garage but would not recommend it. It takes about 10 minutes to wind the door up manually. The cost of the new manual door including new surround and facia, prefinished in black, fitting and removal of old door is just over £1300.
Most companies offer a manual override that passes through the wall.
You can get these doors with an outside override.

What size slats did you go for, 55 or 77? And how is it in the wind, do you get much flex of the door?
55cm when closed. Not had any issues with wind or rattling as once slats lock down they are pretty solid and we live on a hill so get lots of wind

55cm wide slats. Can’t remember colour exactly, it’s deffo a charcoal/black colour
Are there options on the remotes? They seem overly big and also why 4 buttons if only 2 perform an action? Was hoping to have a fob on motorbike and car keys but that’s way too big
The fobs aren’t that big. They are standard fobs. These garages only use buttons 1 & 2, 3 & 4 is if you have a double garage so another door
Is this an all metal construction or do they use plastic runners or guides?
It’s Aluminium slats, as you close it they all lock into place. Nothing is totally secure but it’s solid enough
How is it wired in? Plug or to Distribution Box/Consumer Unit?
It’s plugged into a normal 3 pin socket on a wall in the garage
Do you have the blickdomi system to control the blind with the mobile?
No I haven't got this, will it work on this? Sounds good if it does.
I have a friend who has it and it works very well, it connects via WiFi and you can control all the blinds from the smartphone. Additionally, there is another version that has alarms.@@LurgsHowToGuides
What happens if the power trips. How do you open it from the outside
You can’t open it from the outside. There is a manual handle inside to open so you need an access rear door
There seem to be different qualities of these roller doors trying to work out between them. You had gaps at the bottom of yours in the right hand side
That’s just a rubber strip along the bottom of the door, it can be slid left to right, I can move it over slightly

How safe is it?
As safe as anything else I suppose. Wouldn’t stand someone ramming a car at it but you’d have a real job trying to push it open by hand or bashing it in.

Is it loud or quiet
It’s quiet. If you opened it at 0300am I expect it would seem loud but I think it’s quiet.
Your old door was more secure than your new one, Garolla sells a very cheap, substandard door, which can be pushed through by an 8 year old boy.
Next time do better research and buy a proper door if you value security and reliability.
If Garolla are substandard what do you recommend?
