Kerala cannot exclude politics from anything...so as TMK...the man who politicise, polarise and viciate the music scene. I wish he sticks to his singing and propogates the art and takes it to the untouched zones of the society . The 'non brahminical' sect of the society needs the brilliance of TMK both as a musician & as an influencer.

6:57 perhaps the only time when TMK was not annoyed by a phone ringing but used it to make a point instead 😅

Vid TMK, I respect you deep in my heart. When I met you for just a minute in Bangalore a few years ago in Vani School, I thanked you for your art for creating an excellent musical environ. I think there are no compelling reasons to associate music with any caste. While I was visiting the BR Hills VGKK, two decades ago, it was about 6 pm, when our bus landed us there. I said to my colleagues and students, that I am listening to potential MS Subbalakshmi's here, just by listening to those soliga tribe children. Hence my suggestion is not to associate music with any caste. But you have every right to differ and I have every right to respect it.

A very good introduction to aesthetics. Something we need to bring into our mainstream cultural discourse to engage our society actively with caste and gender.
