Did you know some old cars you can just add cruise control to? I didn't find out till I added it to this 2009-2013 Corolla

Same thing with our 2002 gmc sierra. Didn’t have cruise control then 10 years later I had the same idea and it worked!

Did the same thing on my 06 Tundra Base. Total cost from salvage was less than $10!! Also added an intermittent wiper control. Super easy!! 👍
the way my heart sunk when i saw this, was incredibly excited to try it, and realized my 2002 corolla was too old to have cruise control even as an option on the wheel lmao
2002 DID have an option for cruise control, so it very well may work.
@@AlphaShark :O how can you tell? My Corolla is a super basic CE, no rpm meter, no cd player, and when I look at the wheel there's no panel to remove to install the cruise control. I'd have to rip a new wheel cover from the junkyard or cut the hole myself
The cruise on my ae86 (1986) is on the bottom left of the dash, not on the steering wheel.

I've just done this to our 2011 Toyota Verso. £20 and around 30 minutes job later, it's all working as intended. I have no idea why they didn't do this at the factory if all wires and ecu work been done.

Did the same on my Fiat Linea using the same cruise control stalk, works for most Alfa Romeo/Fiat/Jeep/ dodge models post Stellantis.

highly depends on the car though especially with some older cars you gotta take apart half the dash lmao but overall most cars come with all the options just a lot of them are not plugged in if not spec'd haha

I have a 2016 corolla (JDM model) that looks "more modern" than yours however on startup when all lights in the dash are lit I do not see a cruise control symbol (but so is yours). So is there a way to know whether my car has the cruise control function built in? is opening up the steering wheel and looking for that spare connector the only way to do determine?
I have to imagine a 16’ has it built in, but as far as I know opening the wheel is the only way. I know there are some other tutorials on newer Corollas on RUclips, maybe those videos speak into it?

All the features are built in, there is no front sensor on older cars. The sensor on newer cars is for radar guided cruise control that automatically slows down for cars in front.

Find out if the '03 had an option for cruise on higher trims. If it did, there's a good chance the plug is there.
Kudos for the video and setting me on the right course to adding cruise control very economically to my 2010 Toyota Corolla base model. Two feedback recommendations: 1) You harvested your switch component from a salvage vehicle. As an alternative, for basically the same price, I was able to purchase a new switch online. 2) A critical element in my application was removing the electrode pin from the original connector which was underneath the air bag providing the horn function. It had to be inserted in the empty port of the connector of the new cruise switch. By doing do, you keep your horn while adding cruise. Hi, I have installed cruise control in my 2010 Toyota Corolla CE. The button works and the cruise indicator shows on the dashboard, but when I tried it on the highway at 100 km/h, the car slows down when I remove my foot from the accelerator, even though the dashboard still shows "cruise." How can I fix this issue? Thanks in advance

You’re the second to ask that, I do not know since it is not available in the U.S. market, the easiest way to tell would be able to take the front part of the steer cap off like I instruct in the video and see if you Hi-Ace has the plug.

I recently did this for a 1998 rav4 that had a broken cruise control. You should be able to do it, seems like Toyota back then wanted to make things easier on the customers
