Looks like a lot of people where indeed waiting for official launch to play the game. Space Marine 2 is now the number 1 most popular Warhammer game of all time on Steam. Just broke 221k concurrent players (and climbing). GG.
@@Kodobroabout 8 hours, but the campaign isn’t the only content. The “operations” and PvP are the live service parts of the game that are replayable and grindable, and are being continually updated. The campaign is essentially just supposed to serve as your basic Halo or COD campaign you can finish in one night, with the other half of the game being the replayable section. Like I said, Halo and COD are laid out the same way
@@shaunkennedy174 yea, the game defintly looks cool but i am closer to what Force Gaming referred to as value gained. i stick to my single players because they tend to be alot longer. playing Dead Space on ps5 legit! thanks for the heads up. i'll keep watching it played tho
Most magazines give it an 8/10, metacritic currently on 83/100 if scores so important to you, don't just use the ones fitting your narrative. In addition, find one magazine you like and get to know the journalists than you can trust their judgement. My favourite magazine e.g. gave it a 9/10, still I only ordered the game after reading the whole tests, pros and cons, how they come to their verdict and than I understand why they gave the 9/10 although I don't expect the game to be that for me. Ratings are just not a good baseline for discussion or anything else, they are mainly for marketing and because people like them, it makes good headlines.
I mean, its no mystery that "game journalists" or youtubers get a copy of the game in advance and for that privilege are required per contract to write a atleast somewhat positive review. different from publisher to publisher really. If they dont they lose money and exposure. Its all about cash. Shouldnt really trust anyone who is paid to review which is like 99% of all them journalists/youtubers
Two different reviewers, the editorial section is not a hivemind. If the same reviewer that reviewed Concord did Space Marines 2 he migh thave put an 8 instead. And if the guy that set 6 on Space Marine 2 might have given concord a 4 instead... we dont know. Its opinions and the review explains why that score was set. And since its two different reviewers that compare the game with different ones in the reviews its hard to compare scores like that.
6-8 hours to complete the campaign? Man, I'm not even close to that. I took my time and explored every inch of every level. As a 40k mega fan it was astounding. The level of detail in everything was 10/10. You could tell the devs knew 40k and put thought into the little details.
I rushed through the campaign in a little over 5 because I wanted to focus on operations. I'm now going back through it and taking my time and it's been so much better than I originally thought; and I already had a high opinion of the campaign. Everything about this game screams love for the 40K universe and it's amazing.
I started on the second hardest difficultly and do a few missions a day, then play other modes in between. The story is incredible so anyone complaining about the length needs to play at harder difficulties.
Mega fans are not what the reviews are talking about...Mega Fans buy it/defend it no matter what, because you have an extreme bias towards the subject matter. We are talking about Joe Consumer, who is not going to spend hours looking at walls and shit.
This game has some crazy potential. Imagine updates or dlc bringing new planets and enemy factions. They could bring Orcs back, show us new demons, even put us against Necrons. I know the swarm tech is a big part of what they where going for when they were building the engine, but imagine going from being swarmed by Nids and Demons to being locked in a deadly, opressive and methodical shootout against tanky robots who clearly have better guns
Will that potential ever be realised though? It's a £60 live service game that has a severe lack of content at launch, and the entire year 1 road map doesn't really add much apart from two new guns, a couple of maps, and different game modes.
Look at the DLC roadmap. They already announced a lot of that for the future. All four seasons are going to bring a “new enemy.” Although I don’t know if that means a new race or just another type of tyranid
3 times I bust out in laughter cus the shit that was happening on screen was just so badass I couldn't help it. The campaign was incredible lol that's not normally the reaction I have playing action games
For sure, I aswell just not enough content!!! They really need to put out more in the next couple of weeks or people just gonna forget about the game!! 💯💯💯
PC Gamer is just an opinion, I mean they rated Gollum a 60 too. There’s no way in the whole fuckin universe Space Marine 2 is on the same level as that.
@@joechapman8208 The problem is that they basically put it on the same level as Gollum, a game that offered nothing to the franchise it's in, has boring gameplay, with graphics like mud, and bugs for days. From an objective standpoint in terms of polish and quality SM2 should've scored a lot higher.
Disagree. There should be an objective score for certain factors in production etc. bugs, polish etc. You can have two games at an 8/10 level however the one with more bugs, glitches, or faults should score lower regardless of personal opinion. @@joechapman8208
Yeah the people that get these figures.... i dunno how they play video games. They must rush..... like litterally sprint around as if they are playing a round of COD on the easiest setting or something.
I quit paying attention to critics many years ago. I dont pre order anything. I found several you tube reviewers that resonate with me and thats how I make my decision on buying games. Gaming sites are not the gatekeepers anymore.
Which is HILARIOUS, because so-called "trusted" tubers are mostly the same thing everyone cried about with gaming journos nowadays. They take cheques from publishers, and shill dogSHT products . They dance for review copies, and trips to Disneyland as well. Most tubers are just as scummy as gaming journos.
The trick is to not get too attached, if they are no longer serving the purpose of why you even watch their content, stop watching them. At least for youtubers you can find someone who suits your etertainment needs. Gaming "journalism" publications on the other hand are resistant to change.
@@ZombiAstral I'd say youtubers are worse, because they don't have to publish their financials or be accountable at all to the public in anyway. At least traditional game journalist publications have some level of transparency forced on them. This is the same as news media, where people laughably champion shady "independent" youtubers who are all bought and paid for by various special interests, and then criticize traditional media for being the same. But that's what internet is like these days, people prefer to live in delusions than reality.
Well you also get the season pass and other things, but also because being hyped for a game is really exciting, especially if you’re a huge Warhammer fan.
Friends and I bought it for the early access because it was a weekend we could all get together. We did an old school LAN party and had so much fun. We’re all about 45hrs into the game (mostly PVP and the campaign) This game is perfect when it comes to living out the 40K space marine fantasy
it wishes it was GEARS. Gears of War will always be the best 3rd person shooter on the market severely hampered by its lack of matchmaking, incredibly high skill cap and small playerbase of super sweats. The veterans are so unbelievably sweaty any new player will instantly quit rather then spend 200+ hrs getting obliterated while learning how to play. Its a real shame and I am hoping the new Gears brings everyone back. No shooter gives a more satisfying experience as Gears once you get going and take out 3 dudes back to back while on low health.
It's actually a missions as opposed to one big arena that SM1 horde mode was, I'm interested in seeing what they do for the upcoming Horde mode when they finally add it
I wouldn’t say it’s better, it’s just different. Operations are linear, objective based, with enemies all along the path. It’s fun, but it basically has a cap to difficulty and challenge. The nice thing about Horde Mode, is that you can just keep pushing the challenge higher and higher. With the game throwing more enemies, and harder enemies at you. Like- you’ll never run into 5 Carnifex at once in Operations, it just doesn’t happen. But that could be something they do in a Horde mode. With our lvl25 characters we basically breeze through the hardest difficulty operations. Horde mode will ideally provide a nice additional challenge to take on. Looking forward to it.
Is it bad that my biggest complaint is that the pyreblaster sucks? It should be a cardinal sin for a limited use flamethrower to be bad in a video game.
I agree, Pyreblaster is woefully pitiful, like they give you a lot of fuel but it tbh doesn't make sense that the Melta does more damage than the Pyreblaster considering they essentially do the same purpose
@@H2ORaccoon Pyreblasters and meltas are two different categories. Pyreblasters are flamers that dump burning fuel on enemies. Meltas shoot a highly radioactive beam powerful enough to melt ceramite.
@@Redguns4life With guns, you can certainly classify them by their operation, but you can also just classify them by the results, i.e. melted pile of goo. It doesn't matter if the heat is from combustion or radioactive decay if the end result is melted remains of bugs.
@konrad5566 true but at the same time you're getting extra content not just early access. This is also a way to show companies what gamers actually want
8:12 “Not every game needs to be a live service.” Quote of the year for me. I would love more games like this where I don’t need to play daily for months. Had a great time so far in this game.
To be fair, I'd rather the game be a live service than Denuvo. Every Denuvo game has been terrible in performance and also renders Special K loading impossible. But single player games should have an offline mode.
Space Marine 2 is fun with the boys. I wouldn’t recommend it for solo players or unless you are a huge warhammer fan. It actually made my friend group collectively want to go back and play Helldivers instead. Don’t hate it, don’t love it. I feel 70 bucks is a bit on the high side for what you get.
@@SmittyWJManJensenExactly! Iy took me 13 hours to conplete it solo on the hard difficulty, so idk where people are pulling the 6-7 hours from. Like maybe if you skip cutscenes + play on easier difficulty? Idk

I'm all for reviewers being free to speak how they feel, but PC Gamer hasn't felt trustworthy in years. It feels like they've resorted to going against the grain constantly in order to garner rage bait clicks. Every time a new game comes out that gets good/great scores, PC Gamer is always there giving it some of the lowest scores and saying it's not that special.
Not true they gave baldurs gate 3 the highest score ever 97 and their points are well discussed,i think the game deserves a solid 7 so they are not far off
Brother in Christ what you and 99 percent of fans don’t get that we all love the physical raw gameplay as well but the issue is they will soon release female space marines part of dlc and because all of you bought the hard copy of the game y’all supported that disgusting agenda and that’s unacceptable I’m tired of being lied to and then regret spending money I’ll be back to comment when I’m right 😅 told ya so
Great game, I am a WH40k fan but this is objectively fun. They need to keep content rolling. New enemies, missions etc but it's a fantastic foundation.
And Tyranids are literally a Dev's dream due to the sheer amount of variants they can use... Granted I'm not expecting them to add all known 188 warrior strains to the game 😂 grant that number is going to be very out of date as that came from the 7th lore I think 🤔
@@Dash277 based on what we saw during the campaign, when the road map said new enemies it now makes me consider they meant new races vs just more Tyranids and Thousand Sons
This generation has a problem with identifying a real and good game. Space marine 2 is the definition of a title made for the player keeping them in mind at all costs
Absolutely love it. The mechanics are there, the combat is visceral and FUN, and the visuals are fantastic. As a dad with 3 kiddos and less game time, I care more about the mechanics, the content may be light but more will come. Don’t miss this one, it’s a blast.
I finished today the campaign in Veteran mode and as W40k fan I must admit the story was SO GOOD. Ultramarines, Astra Militarum, the Tyrannids… every faction is spectacularly depicted. I hope they add more PVE content tho, those 6 operations will not last long.
Classes like an Apothecary, a new pistol ,new pve maps, pve enemies, battle barge expansions like a fight pit, horde mode, etc. This game has been in development for about 8 years but swarm tech wasn't introduced until 4 years ago meaning designs of missions, AI make up, etc. had to be redone throughout. They likely will build on this just as they did with WWZ.
A 6-8 hour campaign? Wow. It was like 10 hours for me, playing solo, exploring everything, and looking for NPC dialogues, etc. But honestly, I’ll take quality over quantity any day. A 6-10 hour action-packed, good quality campaign is far better for me than a 60-hour boring, repetitive, and slow game at the same price.
@@th3r3v92 a hair over 5 hours for me and my buddy on veteran difficulty. Would have felt much better if the standard edition started at $39.99 or something rather than $69.99
@@Xl_Fenrir_lX Yes, the real issue is the pricing. I dont see why its worth 30 more dollars than WWZ, besides...licensing? It's content-lite for this day and age, which is fine, cuz ppl like whats its trying to do; but fans will eventually admit its highly repetitive, predictable, and linear. We'll see how PvP adds to longevity.
@@dreaducategaming yeah this game just does not have legs. It’s absolutely a blast to play, but most of the kids can’t differentiate the two, or they are just coping with their $70 purchase to convince themselves it was worth it. I already uninstalled at a little over 50 hours and I’ve gotten all I can out if the game, hell I burned myself out with how far I stretched that
I put in around 36 hrs over the last 5 days. The campaign is about 8 hrs long if you're not speeding through as fast as you can. On top of that are the Operations Missions, of which there are 6 and run around 40 mins each. Roughly 4-5 more hours of side story campaign. 12 missions total for 13ish hrs of a very good-looking, fun campaign is worth it, especially since it rewards replays with a ton of cosmetics. The rest of my time has been spent in multiplayer, which is typical MP fun. I think MP needs more maps, a horde mode, and customizable Chaos Space Marines. Right now the Heretic faction is basic. They should be as customizable as the Astartes. I give the game a solid 8, which can easily go higher with more content. It's a great, well-polished game, bonus if you're into 40k.
I’ve just completed the story it’s absolutely amazing 9/10 the combat is incredible so satisfying every kill feels amazing can’t wait to play the other modes
Played through it with my friend and we got so into the world building and role playing lmao first game in 5 years where me and my friend realized it's 3AM and we should go to sleep because we were having such a blast. Co-op could use a few more missions and PVP could use a few more maps and modes but the customization for both will keep me playing for a while.
I’ve just been playing the online missions with random players and it’s absolutely fantastic love the level progression day off tomorrow so probably a few day on it 😂
It’s boring buddy the last descendant is better than this as a looter action game. Game is overrated by boomers it’s bland as hell after you beat it and the cutscenes voice acting is bad and the mouths move like a AA title
Bricky described it perfectly as a "game from the 2010s." Insanely fun if you enjoy the combat loop, but don't come for a masterclass in storytelling and expect it to be slimmer at launch
Ah yes, all those 2010 games with atrophied campaigns, that were functionally always online, and had a complete lack of customization for half their multiplayer options (looking at the sad state of chaos space marines).
See I think it's worse than those 2010's games people compare it to. The combat loop is fun but because the game is so linear with nothing to break up the loop I found it got old pretty fast. There's not many exciting or crazy things that happen, the halo jump, flag stand and I guess the final boss come to mind but everything else was pretty linear. The game could really have done with having sections where you piloted or drove something, just something to break the campaign up. I'm comparing it to 2010 era games like Gears of War and it just doesn't stack up. Sure it's got pretty graphics but the content and re-playability isn't there for me. I can't say I'll play an operations map more than maybe twice and half the multiplayer customization (chaos) is missing from the game. Getting it on sale in a year or two time would be ideal.
@@bwhere45 Currently, yes. Chaos has no customisation. But if you spent even a single second looking at it you would've noticed that they do still all have individual armour pieces. Which is quite a big hint. In case i have to spell it out for you; Chaos Customisation will remain legion-locked, but is still coming with additional pieces for each class. I just reckon they cant as easily copy paste pieces when they have to be legion specific. Unlike with the loyalists
One of the best game reviews I have encountered in years. Succinct, objective, and clear. Bonus points for using "number" and "amount" correctly. You have set a new standard for game reviews videos.
Hoo boy you're in for a ride if you do decide to watch vids about it. I recommend Luetin09 for some good serious lore vids or Adeptus Ridiculous for funny podcast style of lore retelling
Watch Arbitor Ian's "The Warhammer 40K Timeline in Just 20 Minutes" lore video, cos it briefly goes through all the ages leading up to the game's 40K setting. Honestly I'm happy the campaign was short. It was short, to the point, lots of action and then it reaches a solid conclusion it didn't feel like I was just sitting there waiting for it to finish so I could play multiplayer it was just right for me. The lowest score this game could possibly get would be a 8/10. This is my game of the year so far.
I agree , at first it was Helldivers for me but the Dev's failed , so I went back to dying light 2 , GTA online & now I'm getting into this which I love! I'm excited to pick up this game tomorrow when it releases officially. I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I do like the Lord and the story of Warhammer. So I'm really excited to pick this up and play.
The only thing that Im personally implementing with Early access games as a personal policy is: "I have to pay extra to play the game early?, I'll buy later at a discounted price".
@@StarBoyJo Sir, let me get this straight to understand what relationship what you said has to what I said. Are you implying that Early Access is justified on the $90 cover charge because you get the season pass for an extra $30 dollars sir? Im extremely confused by your statement. I've seen people loving the PvE and the PvP and that's perfect for me, I'm waiting for the base edition though after learning the "season pass" is PURELY cosmetic, I'd rather save the $40 if all future content is coming free, if I'm really enjoying the game I will update down the line
Saw a dev comment the early release not only helps the hardcore fan it also staggers the playerbase. This helps the servers during launch. As a destiny player, i can appreciate it.
While I do kind of wish it were cheaper, there have been much stinkier piles releasing recently for equal or greater price with a far more shallow and sanitized experience. While I competely 100% understand people being upset about it, I'm just not.
With regards to perfect parrying the bigger enemies the blue indicator does not work! Need to manually perfect parry them. I'm going through the campaign and my main gripe is your bot teammates are pretty useless. There's times when you're forced to use a specific weapon that's not good on some of the enemies they throw at you and so the feeling is pretty jarring, unfair and artificial and really showcases how useless the bots are. Feels like a very dated mechanic to use.
Genuinely love this game. TOOK me 8-9 hours to complete the campaign but now I can go full in on operations and that's practically a campaign in itself! Can't wait to see more to come to this game
God that was refreshing. Just finished the campaign without knowledge of the 40k universe. Its gritty, epic and a actual game made for gamers(which is rare nowadays) Just raw destruction with a epic story and great cinematics. Finished in approx. 6 hours and definitely worth it!
Funny little lore fact. Regular Guard soldiers, on the first time they see a space marine, tend to have a panic attack and freak out, because they don't expect people that large to move so quickly, and gracefully in combat. They call it 'Transhuman dread.'
@@09ALPHAROGUE Warhammer was originally supposed to be a Blizzard game. Games Workshop created assets for use in the game that would go on to become Starcraft. Blizzard kept the assets and cancelled their partnership with GW before it got into a development stage. Warhammer came before Starcraft/Warcraft, and is FAR FAR deeper in the lore department. Warhammer is what happens when you take the concept of Starcraft and cranked the brutality, darkness, hopelessness and made EVERYONE a bad guy. There are no "good" factions in the Warhammer universe, and basically everyone except the Orks is having a horrible time.
You guys are aware that StarCraft was going to be a 40k game and they had disputes on direction so good ol James workshop said they are breaking off so since they took away the 40k IP, now you have "zerg" (nids) "terran' (space marine) and "protoss" (eldari)
Same, I've only died 2x and im 11 hours in as well. I don't know how they did it in six. I am playing solo until my boys get it but still. They had to rush the campaign to beat it that fast.
Anyone else play space marine 1 ?? That one had such a good story. All the way to the end I loved it When the ork boss came back at the deamon prince fight I literally jumped into it of my seat. I’m just hoping it’s going to be like that
I'm actually hype that it's Tyranids and not Orks again. Also it's refreshing to have WH games without Nurgle. I know it's extremely popular, but seeing some other factions is nice.
Sometimes, co-op matchmaking will even let a joining player choose a class that's already present, forcing the players to decide between the two of them if either of them will change classes or just leave the lobby, because you can't start a mission until one does either. Happened to me, I had assault, and sat there for 3 minutes with the host player before a third player joined and chose assault. It booted neither of us and he wouldn't pick a different class, so I dropped team.
They should just let you play what you want, even if it's suboptimal/not intended. Those that can do it will make the challenge work, and those who are casual get to RP their Chapter/Class etc.
I can sort've see where they're coming from for balancing purposes. Same with pvp. Only allowed two of the same class per team so if your two slow or people have a better connection they're gonna choose the class you want to play. Maybe for pve and pvp when the game launches it should do kinda what Apex legends does and have a randomly generated order of players to choose what class they want...at least you will then have a chance to get in first.
Im 2h in and i have to say, never saw something in that universe before. Or ever.. Its amazing. Thats what i call a game, by nerds, with love and compassion. The Detail, the Feeling, the Sound and the Impact. Im blown away. I love it so far. Im sure, campaign is too short but i dont think i will get it in 6 - 8h because half of the time im standing around and watching the battles in front of me, the szene, the battlefield. Its crazy how much is happening most of the time. I have to admit, im a 40k fan myself and therefore im all in for the setting, but even without, im sure i would love the game. Its a great beginning, it seems it is a success, so hopefully there comes more, much more in the next months.
I do think it's a great experience, but they needed some additional filler missions just to extend the campaign. Like "guardsman reported collapsing on the front line, get there and hold it for 20 minutes" something like that, simple to create, fits the story, gives more to the campaign. I ran through it in about 8 hours on hardest difficulty. I'll replay, but i'd of liked more filler missions with maximum horde.

@@finalboss5966 maybe, but I think of gears of war and its campaign (most comparable to me at least when I was younger) and this felt too short. We didn't spend enough time with the Tyranids or having those epic rip and tear moments imo. Loved the game, felt it was too short.
@@CrispyChristieMACGears campaigns were similarily as long around 9 hours. But the operations mode is setup and story wise runs parallel to the main story. I extended my overall story length by playing the campaign then the associated operation that took place simultaneously.
For me, one HUGE technical problem I had was with the pre-rendered video cutscenes. For some reason, the cutscenes always lag out super hard, especially the longer they go on, which really sucks because the dialogue, captions, and sfx keep going fully unimpeded. It's so bad I had to watch some cutscenes separately on youtube just to know what was going on. It's especially weird cause you'd think that such lag on cutscenes of all things would mean that the rest of the game must run even worse, but no, literally the opposite, everything else is perfectly fine and runs at a smooth and steady high-framerate, even other in-game cutscenes, just so long as they're the in-engine ones and not the prerendered ones. I've never encountered this in a game before where it's the cutscenes that are laggy and not the other way around.
Hey i had the exact same issue a combination of: updating my Nivida Grafic drivers, disabling game overlays, disabling game "boosters" like Razer Cortex, disabling Riot Vanguard, setting the game to medium grafics (still looks great) and shifting its install directory via steam to my SSD. Has fixed that for me completly. If any of that applies to you i recommend testing it.
Bolt Thrower has been making Warhammer inspired metal for nearly 40 years. Hopefully people will give them a listen now that the 40k universe is getting some light. The IVth Crusade is one of my favorite albums of all time. "Insignificance is our existence, Hear the litany of life's persistence".
This game needed a longer campaign. Chapter 1: DeathWatch campaign with Inquisition Chapter 2: Ultramarine campaign(current campaign) Chapter 3: Fighting necrons/orks in another system with terminator armor.
I hope the game isnt abandoned. This could be an alternative to Darktide wherein we deal with the 'next level' enemies. Like I love how in darktide humans are a threat with their lasguns, whereas in space marine 2 you can run into them and theyre instantly killed. Sure the game doesnt have as much combat depth, but its only just released and theirs much room for improvement. I really hope this becomes the next co-op hoard game with decently timed updates to keep things fresh
Space Marine 2 had everything better from its predecessor (og Space Marine 1), except it's still had no real final boss fight which is what everyone criticized for (and it's also the same issue from its og SM1 too) Final boss besides, at least it got nominated into the Game of the Year list alongside Astro Bot, Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade, MvC Collection, and more
This game showed up with no glitches no bugs. Solid gameplay. Super solid level designs. This is akin to old school gaming with everything earned through grind. No store. No bundles. Just a complete package of a game with solo/coop-coop-and multiplayer. Just an awesome feeling
My brother and I finished mission 5 after about 8 hours on normal so far. We took our time finding all the dataslates so far and are enjoying the scenery a lot.
You're right, it works. Disgusting yes, but consumers literally will be hypocritically while taking out their wallet and buying early access and still say such practices are bad. They'll try to justify the purchase saying, "it's just this one time" or "I know, but...", so yes it works.

Yeah definitely. I’m playing on PS5 and the game can’t even hold 60 FPS at 1080p, which is unacceptable for me but I love the game so much that I just try to ignore it and pray for a patch. It does look absolutely gorgeous on the 4k quality mode, but I cannot bring myself to play at 30 fps. I just wish they could’ve at least locked the game to 60 at 1080p then It wouldn’t be as big of a deal. I was told it’s because there is SO MUCH SHIT going on the screen at one time
I've had so much fun playing this all week, I can't imagine going through it in 6 hours but this is a career game-critic review and most of the points are fair. FOV doesn't bother me in campaign since the gameplay is dished out in a controlled way but PVP makes you wish for that. 10/10 game for me. All the blemishes are forgiveable and I'm running it on a pretty bog-standard gaming laptop. I turned the graphics to performance and I was happy with the frames. I've probably sunk about 15 hours into 40k videos this year and I can appreciate the writing and overall art design being very congruent to what I've come to know.
I’ve not played it, but from everything I’ve seen and heard it has so much potential. A diamond in the rough if you will. A little thin in content and some features not quite where we want them to be, but with some polishing it could be truly great. I keep hearing the Helldivers / Gears of War comparisons. As they add more content and hopefully build out the friendly AI, I’m hoping it starts to get that Mass Effect campaign feeling too. Can’t wait to play it.
I don't think this game deserve more than a 6/10. I had a great time doing the coop mission but there's only 6. I mean nowadays we have games like baldur gate 3, elden ring, or more close to this type of game helldivers which all gives you tens if not hundreds of hours of various gameplay. On the other hand we have space marine 2 with a campaign done in 6 hours and 6 missions, oh and 3 maps pvp with 3 game modes. The pvp becomes boring after few games (and I'm a pvp player) and I don't want to spend hours farming the same missions in order to collect every upgrades just to do the same exact missions but just a bit easier. Right now, the game has no real value. It's a good experience the first time you discover the areas and missions. I love the fact that you really fight the hordes of ennemies which are not just animations in the landscape. However, for the price I would expect like at least tens of new missions, not just 6. Especially when it represents 100% of the pve in the game after the story. Imagine if they have done something like helldivers with a battlemap with planets to conquer and various ennemies like aeldaris, orcs, or necrons and add pvp in that with the choice for each player to be a loyalist or a chaotic partisan. It would have been much better with a near unlimited end game in pvp and pve... With the new content release calendar this game looks like an unofficial early access with a incomplete game but with an expensive full price. Even the first act of bg3 in early access was longer than this full game and helldivers is still a better sci fi game if you want an epic battle game. So yeah, very good game for ten hours which would have been awesome maybe ten years earlier. But for a 2024 game it's way to short in every aspect of the game. For me 6/10
I'm sitting at my computer WAITING to download this in 2 hours. You better believe there are many many many gamers salivating to get started today 🤤 The PVP of the first Space Marine was probably my favorite online multiplayer experience. The servers are STILL live and had a fairly constant community of players. I'm sure this will similarly hold its audience. It may be somewhat reworked, but the scale of your fighter... how heavy and big they FEEL...and variety of playstyles you can adopt for PVP is super attractive and unique and just.... *chefs kiss*.
idk why this game is getting jerked off so much, it feels like a 2010 game at best with amazing visuals, no skill expression, no custimization, no cool story or characters, linear corridors against a grand total of like 10 enemies i guess i'm just finally ready for gaming to actually become good
I agree.. I've been a gamer for 20+ years and have played LOTS of different titles. I find this game extremely mediocre and genuinely don't understand the hype!! It's extremely repetitive and not satisfying at all. It was fun for a couple hours and then immediate boredom. Not worth $100 THATS for sure.
@@voidcheque7019 Yea. Agreed guys. I don't get it. I still need to give it one more shot with the class based coop mode and set to easy. I think world war z is better so far but that has had more time to mature.

I purchased the Ultra Edition and have really enjoyed the game so far. I did the first Story mission but wanted to do the rest with a friend that is waiting for the game to release on monday, Meanwhile i jumped in to PvP and had a blast hooking people with my meathook. I got that oldschool COD lobby feeling where everyone is testing different classes, playing the objective and having fun. Its the most fun i have had playing pvp alone in a while. Cant wait to play the story/operations with my friends! For the Emperor!
No way near worth ultimate or gold price tag, also barely worth it with a discount on cdkeys! No way near as good as something like gears of wars, it is missing so so so many basics
We need Horde mode and FoV slider. Seriously, idk why they didn't include one of the best replayability content in Space Marine 1 which was Horde mode at launch day.
I heard one of the things complained about was that there aren’t that many enemy types and I feel like that is a huge point for me when it comes to games because it allows a smaller set of maps to still hold their own before DLC is released. Little disappointed that they didn’t include it from the beginning.
I played through the campaign yesterday. Usually I wait to buy games until a couple patches have been released, but I jumped on this one for some reason sooner than normal. My main gaming pc is a Ryzen 5800X and a RX 7900 Xt with 32GB ram (used Adrenalin Edition 24. 10. 37. 10, released specifically for this game). Game installed on a SSD. Experienced multiple crashes on the 3rd mission on the rooftop that required full system restarts. Could not get past this point without taking Steam offline and using task manager to stop Easy Anti-Cheat. Then experienced three more crashes at later points in the game. One crash required me to play an entire section again. One specific one was with the last boss, where you shoot the giant demons eye one last time and the scene needs to transition to darkness with the Thousand Sons standing at attention. Basically right after shooting the eye one last time the game crashes as the screen goes white. Restart the game and it loads to the darkness scene. All in all, the crashes really hurt the pace and enjoyment. After seeing so many others on Reddit and on Steam reviews and in community posting the same issues, I felt had to leave a negative on Steam. This game, like many others at this price point from 2023-34, should def not have launched in this state. Over 13,000 negative reviews on Steam, many due to crashing. Its bs.
Major Kudos to Sabre, Focus and WARHAMMER. I've been playing Warhammer games since Warhammer Online and this is the game that's going to pop it to the next level.
The game worked flawlessly for me. It felt like the campaign was the hype tutorial to get you accustomed to the new marine you play after the story. 2M players in 2 days wasnt bad either lol. The game is popular because the foundation is great, the story is amazing, and they built the world perfectly. New content is planned throughout the year, but they started with a solid base first which makes all the difference in the world. If they add stuff consistently this will be my replacement for the shame that is HD2.
I am a lifelong Warhammer fan, and I used to work for the company for a number of years. I think this is the best Warhammer game we have gotten, possibly ever. At the time Warhammer dark crusade is my close second, but that title is massively aged.
I can happily say the story was amazing, the gameplay is simple yet they managed to make it fun, the story is short yet it doesnt feel rushed or undercooked, especially the last mission which runs a while but is definitely the best, the graphics are absolutely great. I wasnt even a warhammer fan before it, this made me like the lore XD
This is my intro to Warhammer 40k as a whole and I just want to say I am not disappointed in the slightest. The only disappointment I have is with myself, for not getting into this massive universe sooner. This gameplay is so rad, story is so cool and truthfully some of my favorite voice acting when it comes to video games. It's a really immersive experience and I am so glad I have this game and it is leading me down the Warhammer universe rabbit whole that I knew was there but have not quite interacted with. For the emperor!
WH40K games this good don't come often. For how faithful and detailed this game is I really hope it continues to grow and include more of the WH40K lore and universe.
took me 10-12 hours to do the campaign on Veteran, the game is amazing.. I wish there was a few more coop missions.. But they have a huge amount of replay value, and damn this game is fun to play.. cant wait for them to add horde mode too.. Id give it a 9/10
@@fabolousjada5070 I'm not waiting... I'm still playing the coop and PvP.. The gameplay is 10/10 imo.. you even played it ? Took me 10 hours to finish the campaign and you can do it with friends.. it's a dope experience
It’s definitely an 80-85, but with a few updates could easily be 90+. My biggest complaint I had just from the start was no group finder for co-op. Game would be much more fun with co-op.
i think the early access marketing tactic can actually be somewhat beneficial. im not the biggest fan of it however, it does allow a small portion of people to actually play and test the game and report bugs etc to then allow the devs to hopefully fix some of these bugs for the masses on launch day. and yes i know people got review versions and what not but that number of people is insignificant to the amount of people getting early access. in this instance around 100-150k people allowing the servers to be stressed and allowing further testing and more wide spread testing.
Took me 10 hours to finish the campaign on veteran with friends and a certain amount of deaths. Enjoying the scenery, not skipping any cutscene, hearing certain npc speeches, the chaplain's sermons and looking for dataslates. Already have 40 hours into the game from ea launch.
I have never before paid extra money to play a game early, and I don't regret doing it for this game at all. I absolutely love it so far, and I've barely scratched the surface
Looks like a lot of people where indeed waiting for official launch to play the game. Space Marine 2 is now the number 1 most popular Warhammer game of all time on Steam. Just broke 221k concurrent players (and climbing). GG.
the game is only 6 hours long on the campaign? that cant be right
@@Kodobroabout 8 hours, but the campaign isn’t the only content.

Spacemarine 2: 6/10. Concord: 7/10. I wonder why nobody trusts anything game journalists say, truly a mystery of the modern age.
Well PC Gamer placed Spacemarine 2 even lower than Gollum xD
I mean, its no mystery that "game journalists" or youtubers get a copy of the game in advance and for that privilege are required per contract to write a atleast somewhat positive review. different from publisher to publisher really. If they dont they lose money and exposure. Its all about cash. Shouldnt really trust anyone who is paid to review which is like 99% of all them journalists/youtubers
@@Arc0wyou beat me to it👍🏾
Two different reviewers, the editorial section is not a hivemind.
You could tell the devs knew 40k and put thought into the little details.
note he had 3 humans on it. Which makes it easier
I only did the first mission and jumped into operations and just keep repeating that, leveling up, and helping people 🤣🤣
I rushed through the campaign in a little over 5 because I wanted to focus on operations.

So you just trust tubers based on your opinion? Sheep

This game is perfect when it comes to living out the 40K space marine fantasy
They nailed it. Its a mix of Doom and Gears and its fucking awesome.
it wishes it was GEARS.
It's a bit too slow to be doom, it actually reminds me of Dynasty Warriors but the combat is FAR more meaty and satisfying.

The whole co op operation mode is just a BETTER version of horde mode. This is what we as kids used to wish for when horde mode was all we had.
How so? I haven't played yet
They need to turn horde mode into siege defenses with guardsmen allies
Definitely better than horde mode.

They should be as customizable as the Astartes.

Watch Arbitor Ian's "The Warhammer 40K Timeline in Just 20 Minutes" lore video, cos it briefly goes through all the ages leading up to the game's 40K setting. It was short, to the point, lots of action and then it reaches a solid conclusion it didn't feel like I was just sitting there waiting for it to finish so I could play multiplayer it was just right for me.
The lowest score this game could possibly get would be a 8/10. This is my game of the year so far.
I was thinking basically the same thing. Now I've started playing operations and having fun all over again
I agree , at first it was Helldivers for me but the Dev's failed , so I went back to dying light 2 , GTA online & now I'm getting into this which I love!
The only bad thing about the game in my opinion is the pricing.
I bought the gold edition because I had $30 of playstation credits , but still paid $107 at checkout for this game 🤣 which I don't recommend but I had the money

The only thing that Im personally implementing with Early access games as a personal policy is: "I have to pay extra to play the game early?, I'll buy later at a discounted price".
Well you get the season pass with it as well so it’s worth the $90
@@StarBoyJo Sir, let me get this straight to understand what relationship what you said has to what I said.
Also money...and you pay to beta test the game ha. But I guess there's an obvious appetite for it. I refuse to give into it.
While I do kind of wish it were cheaper, there have been much stinkier piles releasing recently for equal or greater price with a far more shallow and sanitized experience. While I competely 100% understand people being upset about it, I'm just not.

There is so much untapped potential in the Starcraft IP
@@09ALPHAROGUE you are aware that Starcraft is basically Warharmer 40k soft-core? :)

I'll replay, but i'd of liked more filler missions with maximum horde.
but the campaign is devoid of a leveling system and we have all of the sides with pve operations

Chapter 1: DeathWatch campaign with Inquisition
Chapter 2: Ultramarine campaign(current campaign)
Chapter 3: Fighting necrons/orks in another system with terminator armor.
Space Marine 2 had everything better from its predecessor (og Space Marine 1), except it's still had no real final boss fight which is what everyone criticized for (and it's also the same issue from its og SM1 too)
Final boss besides, at least it got nominated into the Game of the Year list alongside Astro Bot, Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade, MvC Collection, and more
I preferred the SM1 final boss. A QTE with lots of satisfying punches is better than a bullet sponge fight that goes on way too long.
This game showed up with no glitches no bugs. Solid gameplay. Super solid level designs. This is akin to old school gaming with everything earned through grind. No store. No bundles. Just a complete package of a game with solo/coop-coop-and multiplayer. Just an awesome feeling

@Ally5141 not exactly as they've made it so cpu bound that changing the settings on pc practically do nothing to improve performance unfortunately
I've probably sunk about 15 hours into 40k videos this year and I can appreciate the writing and overall art design being very congruent to what I've come to know.
love it you pay more money to be beta testers
The game is good for one playthrough including the Operations but other than that there’s not much there
I’ve not played it, but from everything I’ve seen and heard it has so much potential.
For me 6/10
I agree, maybe I'm getting old but I thought it was pretty boring, just a pretty shell as with Wukong......

I'm sure this will similarly hold its audience. It may be somewhat reworked, but the scale of your fighter... how heavy and big they FEEL...and variety of playstyles you can adopt for PVP is super attractive and unique and just.... *chefs kiss*.
idk why this game is getting jerked off so much, it feels like a 2010 game at best with amazing visuals, no skill expression, no custimization, no cool story or characters, linear corridors against a grand total of like 10 enemies

We never thought we get this game... 13 years! For the Emperor!
Well considering this is the substitute for Dark Tide, I'm kinda expecting updates with nice stuff. - But finally with space marines.
I'm fine with it
I played through the campaign yesterday. Its bs.
In 40K the Lore is very important, it is everything, "new lore" for the special ones ruins that. -This game is part of that.

For the emperor!

i think the early access marketing tactic can actually be somewhat beneficial. im not the biggest fan of it however, it does allow a small portion of people to actually play and test the game and report bugs etc to then allow the devs to hopefully fix some of these bugs for the masses on launch day. and yes i know people got review versions and what not but that number of people is insignificant to the amount of people getting early access. in this instance around 100-150k people allowing the servers to be stressed and allowing further testing and more wide spread testing.
FOV slider would be great. I love every bit of the game i have played. Just a game and nothing more. Never tried to make me buy something. Love it.
