Yup, the lieutenant rank didn't even exist still in 40k at that point, it was only when Guilliman returned and edited the codex that he reinstated the rank after 10.000 years No idea where this guy is getting that for for Leandros, he was just a rookie battle brother.
While you are right I also thought he was a LT until I saw this comment so maybe it's a Mandela Effect thing Also I think the sergeant comment was tongue in cheek
I've never played the tabletop game, but I've conaumed dozens of the books and listened to hundreds of hours if lore. 40k is hands down my favorite fantasy universe and its not even close. This game is THE reason why. Having the sequal coming out is a dream come true.
I think the implication is that the turrets in Drogan’s facility are targeting you and the Inquisitor because he’s possessed by a daemon, the daemon is just continuing to manipulate Titus and his squad by claiming the turrets are targeting the Space Marine physiology. Great video btw, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the sequel! A Dawn of War series retrospective would be awesome too!
Thanks for the comment! I'd thought about that; but the turrets have a voiceline identifying you as a "xenos lifeform", so I don't think it holds water. 🤷♂️
They're literally just set to target anything because of the Xenos breech that happened (that is talked about in Drogans journal audio logs) in other words, there was an SCP containment breech so the system went "purge everything"
@@honeybadger6275 Not really, he'd have just been considered part of the Radicals faction, inquisitors actis very much in a grey area, some are staunch religious zealots (the Puritans), others believe in saving humanity by any means necessary (the Radicals), plenty of that in even the Eisenhorn series.
Very good video so far but I do want to point out- Orks aren't bad shots. Orks who are genuinely passionate about ranged combat can be extremely deadly marksmen and sharpshooters- In some editions, you can even equip a certain gun-dedicated unit so that they can get as good as a 3+(or maybe 2+, I don't quite remember) ballistic skill. So it's entirely possible that Grimskull was more intelligent about army planning than most Warbosses, and specifically structured his Shootaboyz out of Ork Boyz who were genuinely interested in Shootas and longer ranged combat rather than just taking random Orks and giving them machine guns. Him being a more strategic and structured Warboss could also explain the lore reason all of the various Ork types look the same. That being, Grimskull demands uniformity and dedication to individual combat skills to excel as much as possible in every branch of warfare. Notice how none of the Chobba Boyz or 'Ardboyz have sluggas like they normally would? So it could be excused that he demands hyper-dedication to each Orks' craft to serve under him and allow no distraction beyond a single craft of combat as the out-of-game excuse of the game's rendering and performance requirements.
That also would explain why he would he in a smaller ship as compared to a big ship, meaning that it would be more difficult to figure out where he was in the heat of battle.
One of the last games of the old relic. I remember spending so much time on the relicnews forums when they were active in the mid-late 00’s. Game communities were so different back then, and relic really was a solid developer back in the day
The autocannon also shows up after sidonus dies, after nemeroth leaves you fight some pyskers and other stuff, there aginst a barricade lays the autocannon
Correction: in the current state of the universe, every Ork's biggest enemy is Chaos. Ghaz is leading the largest wah since Tuska himself, to avenge the death of Commissar Yarrik
In the Shattered Legion Novela there is a short story that makes mention of a Reaver Battle Titan outfitted with lifting equipment, it was used for Contruction and not for war.
Nitpick but both the third and fourth weapon slot can be filled with any of the "power" weapons. To change the one in slot three you just have to be holding that gun.
Gotta love Space Marine 1. However to be absolutely fair I was expecring you to talk about Dawn of War 2 as ,,the pearl,, of a game, not SM. Good choice anyways haha
You're wondering why the storm bolter appears so late in the game and I think I might have an explanation.. Developing and balancing a weapon for the game takes time, and it's likely that the storm bolter wasn't nearly as important as other weapons, and thus would have been tagged as "nice to have" and relegated to later stages of the production schedule. by the time it was ready to implement into the game, the early levels were probably near completed and retroactively implementing the weapon then would have meant redesigning some encounters to balance them out. Unlocking the weapon later on was then probably, cheaper and more convenient, even though it wasn't Ideal from a gameplay perspective.
Space Marine was not Relic's greatest work, the original Dawn of war is the greatest Warhammer 40k game ever made. However, I didn't know that the space Marine had so much influence on DOOM 2016, which itself has had a lot of influence on push forward gameplay philosophy
When I was playing through this as a kid, I never really thought about the hives' female announcer other than some sort of AI (I didn't know the lore back then). As an adult who now knows the lore and watched the hellsreach animated movie, I now realise that she's a servitor.
As far as future content goes, the DoW series is a must. Speed Freeks is pretty good fun, and if you can get it to work DeffSquadron is a fun arcadey dogfight game though it’s got pretty clunky controls.
I've been a 40k diehard for going on 25 years. At first I thought space marine was a top tier 3rd person shooter but having recenty gone back and played it I realized because I desperately wanted an actual decently made 40k shooter way back it lead me to subconciouslly add 1 or 2 points to my 1-10 rating system out of pure fanboying. Having recently completed it again I quickly came to the conclusion that it is the worlds most average 3rd person shooter. It's not bad but not spectacular. I does nothing better then any other 3rd person shooter. Really the only thing the game really has going for it is that any game you set in the 40k universe is going to by default be a bombastic story experience form start to finish. The story was fun. THe game mechanics were acceptable. Thats pretty much the full extent of it. Nostalgia is blinding people to what the game actually is.

Space Marine 1 and Dawn of War remain the GOATS And OMG that Field Of View, AMAZING
Canonically orks can will anything into working. So even if its something that requires some special technology, like using the titans, they will simply just want to use it enough and they will be able to use it.
There is a theory, it's not canon tho, that the emperor is only still "alive" because the Orks think he is. It's not official or anything but makes a lot of sense not gonna lie

Do you deliberately use dry humor and divisive speech because you know it’ll upset fan boys or are you just like that all the time? The video was actually enjoyable from a narrative point of view, but the well timed casual insertions of flat, critical jabs at the subject indicated a lack of interest and knowledge to the lore and which made me question if this is a subtle trait of narcissism or just a use of the same device that flatly critiques the subject matter, that all social media runs over with. Either way the video was still a fun watch and recap of the first game, albeit chick for of quips and inaccuracies for the sake of what I assume was dry or negative humor.
