Who else would start a preview of this car by taking a wheel off and showing us the suspension in detail. This is why any Harry's garage video is a must watch.
Harry is obviously "The Man". One thing that car will never be described as is a "sleeper". It seems Jaguar are going new places with SVO and I for one love it. Great preview.
I'm not too big on the looks of it, but I simply love the philosophy behind this car and thanks so much for these incredible behind the scene insights Harry!
I’m a Jaguar owner, but I didn’t see the point in this car. Usually I make time straight away for a new Harry’s Garage vid, but today I didn’t feel that way and only started watching because there was nothing else that tickled my fancy. And I’m glad I did. Your enthusiasm is infectious. You have a talent of presenting that draws me in and makes me understand your interest in the subject, and that makes me interested in it too. Thanks for another brilliant review.
But did they go the right way? All the pre-Tata Jaguars had a distinctive look and feel to them. Now, they may be better (although I can show from experience that the Ford-era Jaguars are much better than people say), but they are not as special anymore.
@alanrtment porter What a great car it is, all the best to you! Our mechanic has a 4.2 as a replacement vehicle, the S-Type is a joy to drive, to look at and to sit in. However, I urge you to invest in rustproofing it further. We had an S-Type as well (a 3.0 V6 from the same year as yours) and it succumed to rust within a couple of years on Germany's salted winter roads.
I don't think Autocar really understands RUclips videos. Too much mumbling of personal observations. poor sound. Not enough structure. Not enough autism. Old Harrys Garage and DougDeMuro is the way of the future.
I hope Harry will do a real world review of the 488 Pista someday! (When it first came out, I thought it said 488 Pistol from the corner of my eye. lol)
LMAO, Harry removing a wheel, wearing a 200 Quid Liberty shirt, and a ten grand Panerai watch? Gorgeous car Harry. Bringing my not so expensive V6S (Petrol) XF back from Qatar in a few weeks.
Its a technological tour de force. Harry's commentary is mesmerising. But all I'm doing is looking at the classic supercars in the barn there. I'd have the Esprit over this Jag every time.
Fantastic video Harry as usual. I might be wrong about this but I believe the helper spring is under full compression once you've unjacked the car and thus doesn't contribute to 'improved ride comfort' in this type of 'motorsport' application. The helper spring is there so that when the suspension is fully unloaded (in other words you're basically jumping the car) the bigger suspension spring will remained pinned to its perch and won't become malpositioned. You suspension engineers can feel free to comment. I think Harry is confusing this two spring application with a 'variable rate spring' that has variations in its winding - in other words, you see a difference between the coils either getting tighter or looser.
A prototype special less than a week old and already hes got his head in wheel arch showing you how to adjust the suspension and explaining how it works. Wouldnt image a normal motoring journo would be allowed to do that but then he does have a JLR connection. Top bloke and video as always
Fascinating as always, Harry. Good show. Know you'll be proud of yours. Will be expecting a trip with it after it arrives. Good to know you're keeping your hand in the game. Cheers
The Jaguar XE Project 8 are truly the coolest and amazing performance car. I really like the racing seat with Sabelt safety harness and the racing roll cage to make the saloon competition race ready. Awesome car.
I'm a huge fan of Jags. Dad owned one, I have 2. And trully i am very pleased to see this brand competing again the rest of the serious brands. Harry excellent desicion there its going to be your 4th I guess . REMINDER : PLEASE PLEASE REVIEW THE MIGHTY XJ220 . Cheers.
Another fantastic insight into an amazing car! It's an awesome package from the body styling to that V8 supercharged bark! Can't wait for your full road test!
You lucky sod, I am well and truly jelly, AGAIN! I have to say that Jaguar hasn't really been youthfull in quite some time, they have had this old money, executive carriage image for a long time now, even the Project 7 looks safe and old-fashioned. But this is just something else, it's youthfull, fun and exciting. This has that hooligan impreza/evo look, and performance to match. Good on Jaguar for doing this.
How strange, watching this great video from the start, and listening with keen interest to what Harry has to say, i did not realise the car was left hand drive, until he told me. It was either the dark upholstery or being so interested in the video, i thought the car was a right hand driver, and yet there he is, sitting in the passenger seat. Yet again, a brilliantly presented and informative video.
Wow, what a car Harry, it's amazing what SVO have done with the XE, as this will be limited to 300 units & LHD i hope Lister get their hands on the XE also, as it seems to be a very capable car. Looking forward to the next video.
That's got to be the best launch clip i've seen haha, not sure what it is, your expression, the angle or the bushes outside giving the sense of acceleration. :
10/10 for a great video. Only thing missing was the price. I presume all will now be sold given the instant classic status. I love the GT3'esque bonnet vent.
I've driven cars with more power but none that could put it down as well and as controllably as the Project 8. The way it pulls out of corners is breathtaking. It lets you power out the rear ever so gently and still feels like a Jag. Amazing suspension feel. The carbon/ceramic hybrid brakes are insanely powerful. No matter how long I waited before hitting them before the corners, it was always too soon. They were what I imagine a parachute would feel like. Zero fade too. Amazing car!
Great vid and great car Harry. Love the brief from inside the wheelarch. Proper petrol head stuff. I do miss my supercharged v8 jag, even after putting £18k worth of fuel into it.
This car is epic, I saw you talking to people about the Project 8 at Festival of speed last year and I saw a prototype Project 8 myself a couple of months back on the road, the thing looks insane! 👏
If you find yourself questioning this car, seek to 19:39... unreal! What a toy! Look forward to watching Harry do a full bore acceleration whilst 4-up!!
The XE was always packaged for the V8. The package space of the petrol V6 (AJ126) is the same as the V8, as it's just a V8 block with two cylinders blanked off. Only the previous gen V6 (AJ err. 67) was smaller as that was the Ford-block based engine but that went out of production years before the XE was planned (2011).
That sounds so much better than any M car or AMG... Love how that rear cut out behind the wheel looks, though that's going to be a highly efficient mud and gravel collector...
er, the Jag V6 is practically identical size to the V8, because it IS the V8, just one with a V6 crank, and only 6 rods and pistons, so getting the AJ133 into the same space isn't really very difficult at all!
I imagine this is for the select few as it's actually quite old fshioned, very capable though.I feel Jaguar are always playing catch-up in the ultimate performance stakes perhaps it's foibles are what gives it such appeal for real enthusiasts. Great video as usual Harry, thanks!
Wow, that looks brutal (when you want it to be)! I've not owned a Jag for a long while now, not since the XJS HE coupe actually, but I sold that as it was not exciting enough. This one would certainly solve that problem! Thanks Harry, and can't wait for the test of your car....
Lovely car i had my name signed on one during the Dubai international motorshow. I then went and booked myself a GT3 RS and got the allocation a few weeks later i got a call from jaguar telling me i got chosen for one. Sadly my porsche was already paid for :( Enjoy your car and show us some videos when you get it! Thanks!
Ahmad Almajid how about the standard living for the workforce/slaves that live in the little shit hole? Or aren't you allowed freedom of speech to talk about that?
Scott 70 you have every right to talk. Yes they maybe did live in some accomodations beforehand but now there are strict rules in place and they are being taken seriously. Salaries have a minimum wage higher than what they would get back home and workers are not allowed to work mid noon so when the sun is directly above their heads. Instead they work at night. Not every country is perfect. Dont know where u are from but even the great USA has its issues with gun crime etc..
Lovely car and great video Harry. I was always under the impression a helper spring was fully compressed while stationary and its only function is to keep tension on the main spring once the car is jacked up. Without it the spring wouldn't be seated correctly. Interesting if they have developed it to add a small amount of comfort!
H mentioned that the supercharged V8 setup seems to be a bit of a has been in light of the current turbo trend but it's interesting to note that both the current American horsepower kings ie the hell cat demon and ZR1 both use superchargers. Konigsegg also uses a supercharger on one of its models (the one featured in Jay Leno garage)
When I heard about Project 8, my initial reaction was "I bet Harry's involved in that". Thank goodness some car companies still have the freedom to make utterly bonkers machinery like this! A bright light in a sea of silver 2 litre turbodiesels.
What we need is, Harry's Cafe, Harry's Race track, Harry's Hillclimb, you've got the land no doubt the hill,Land Rover test one. Sell it as an environmental develop centre for electric technology, that just happens to have a few motorsport days to make sure it's safe for the electric vehicles, sort of annually reoccurring prototype runs,Harrys centre for enthusiasmn with various apprentice schemes that introduce young an old directly to industry opportunities via you're many varied contacts. Cheers for the films as ever Top Drawer.
Another brilliant review Harry, and a stunning car, but I’m going to be a bit pedantic. It’s a wing bolted to the boot, not a spoiler. A wing works by creating downforce whereas a spoiler 'spoils' the air flow over the back of the car and causes it to break away to cut down on drag and turbulence. Sorry Harry but I had to mention it LOL
That comparison to the evo tme and subaru 22b is such a high praise ...absolutely love it ....but I think the project 8 and the 508hp volvo s60 polestar should do a head to head ❤💙
Would be great to see a review/walk-around of your farm equipment. I'd sure love to see the fastrac, would be interesting to learn something about tractors!
Excellent and informative video as usual Harry. Ever thought of collection of stories, reference your life with cars and travel, as a published book ? Something like maybe Peter Egan’s ‘Leanings’ John Paterson
Jaguar continues to produce absolutely stunning cars. Too bad we here in the states don't have the refinement and style of these fine motors. We have a few fast cars but nothing like this. Great review.
Wow what a review, i like the part where you take the wheel off :) About helper springs, they are there just to put some tension on the main springs when the car is airborne, they are totaly compressed when car is on the ground. After this video i respect the giulia Q even more because jag had to go all out to beat the time on the nurburgring.
Brilliantly pointless yet Jaguar are to be applauded for developing the P8 and to showcase their technical capability. Great review and love the rear end look.
This is my favourite bit when the Jag is obviously trying to wind Harry and with understated British enthusiasm at the end of the 0-60 all he says is "yes". Had me in tears! ruclips.net/video/j2cvr68vlHc/видео.htmlm34s
Why is there not an option for proper manual gearing with a lever? That would really make it a more experience focused car. I know it was made to make the ring record but the owners aren't going to set records on streets. Also has he taken delivery? We've not heard anything from Harry about it yet.
There’s now a version called the “Touring”, and no - it is not an estate version; it’s a version of without the rear wing. Only 15 being made from the 300.
Who else would start a preview of this car by taking a wheel off and showing us the suspension in detail.
This is why any Harry's garage video is a must watch.
Well said mate, well said !
Harry is obviously "The Man".
One thing that car will never be described as is a "sleeper". It seems Jaguar are going new places with SVO and I for one love it.
Great preview.
Absolutely adore this car. Thanks for the amazing and insightful video, I've been wanting one of these for a while. Your spec looks insane!
Ditto! Get one brother :-)
Glad you've found Harry he's a legend.
effspot fancy seeing you here
Yes, you seem insane
effspot same can be said about your Jag man 👌
I'm not too big on the looks of it, but I simply love the philosophy behind this car and thanks so much for these incredible behind the scene insights Harry!

Thanks for another brilliant review.
Harry love how you're getting under there with a spanner with your Panarei on!
Did you steal that shirt from James May?
anglovirtual Yeah I know, that’s why I said it.
I'm still driving my 1994 Jaguar XJ40 4.0 Litre Sovereign and I love it. Jaguar really has come a long way indeed.
But did they go the right way? All the pre-Tata Jaguars had a distinctive look and feel to them. Now, they may be better (although I can show from experience that the Ford-era Jaguars are much better than people say), but they are not as special anymore.
@alanrtment porter

Christ, the way it took off from a standstill was unbelievable! Harry was taken aback I think! What an amazing machine.
the best as all ways harry , every video leaves me grinning like a school boy, jaguar has come so far
How to upstage Autocar's 488 Pista review, release a new Harry's Garage video on the same day. Simples
I don't think Autocar really understands RUclips videos. Too much mumbling of personal observations. poor sound. Not enough structure. Not enough autism. Old Harrys Garage and DougDeMuro is the way of the future.
I mean cause they're reviewing two different cars the only upstage happens during the few hours of release.
So true, then release it off to a good old Amateur video on Pornhub. :)
I hope Harry will do a real world review of the 488 Pista someday!
(When it first came out, I thought it said 488 Pistol from the corner of my eye. lol)
this car was more interesting too
LMAO, Harry removing a wheel, wearing a 200 Quid Liberty shirt, and a ten grand Panerai watch? Gorgeous car Harry.
Bringing my not so expensive V6S (Petrol) XF back from Qatar in a few weeks.
19:38 Man that acceleration footage! Amazing how the plants move in the back!
Harry's Garage and Petrol Ped are the two best car RUclipsrs hands down.
Awesome video Harry.
Silk Cut Purple! Looks absolutely amazing.
Hmmm. I'm thinking British Racing Green and Tan interior. It would match my bowler hat.
I've aged myself with that reference.
I can hear The Avengers theme tune as I read that :-)
Lovely to see Harry getting genuinely excited
I just found this channel, and I LOVE it, perfect combination of knowledge (technology information) and hard driving from a cool old guy, just great!
Its a technological tour de force. Harry's commentary is mesmerising. But all I'm doing is looking at the classic supercars in the barn there. I'd have the Esprit over this Jag every time.

Harry excellent desicion there its going to be your 4th I guess .

It needs to be thoroughly spanked for that Dirty sound coming from it's Arse, naughty, naughty Jag!
@@nickmageebrown1981 so true !!!!
Ceramic wheel bearings, first non-racecar I have heard using these. Very very interesting...
Ah, so now I see what this car is all about, wow! 19:39.
Can someone explain to me how you do the times stamp thing. I 've been trying to do this for some time.....
David Farmer The time code? Simply type in the time with a colon in the middle. E.g. 5:00
Thanks i'll try that!
7:45
Well well it works!
Thank you very much!
David Farmer There we go :)
Another fantastic insight into an amazing car! It's an awesome package from the body styling to that V8 supercharged bark! Can't wait for your full road test!
Wow. Wow. What a car. I love the front grill (and everything else).
No worries, just gonna adjust the suspension with my Panerai on!

That's got to be the best launch clip i've seen haha, not sure what it is, your expression, the angle or the bushes outside giving the sense of acceleration. :
You're so lucky...to drive a dream car. Thanks for walking around understanding exactly what the excited souls are looking for.
Savage beast! Well done Jaguar for having the courage to make this.
Ugh, that thing is such a monster! Would love to experience a Jag.
10/10 for a great video. Only thing missing was the price. I presume all will now be sold given the instant classic status. I love the GT3'esque bonnet vent.

Harry's Garage. Best out there Sir!
What a totally amazing car, love the looks and everything about it and best of all its made in the UK!

Ahmad Almajid Oh yes, this is the perfect car for Dubai, the world capital of kitsch.
John Richards Yep. Whatever you say buddy. The lifestyle and standard of living u get in Dubai is unlike anywhere else
Ahmad Almajid how about the standard living for the workforce/slaves that live in the little shit hole?

As much as I dislike the base XE, this thing is a true gem. Great style as usual, félicitations Harry ;)
What a great car! Happy that Jaguar is finding is 'thing' back.
Lovely car and great video Harry. Looks gorgeous in that toffee apple red.
Harry, your videos are the best...............
Great video Harry as always! But you should place an outside-camera that records the cold start-ups. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Thanks for showing us how to set up the track mode Harry 👍👍
Another brilliant review Harry, and a stunning car, but I’m going to be a bit pedantic. It’s a wing bolted to the boot, not a spoiler. A wing works by creating downforce whereas a spoiler 'spoils' the air flow over the back of the car and causes it to break away to cut down on drag and turbulence.
This is the best Jag ever !!
What a beast! I expect the 0-100-0 time is quick to say the least!
as always, much appreciated harry.
Great video, love the project 8. Worried you were going to clout the Panerai under that wheel arch...
Harry great video, very informative. CAn you chat to the Jag guys and get them to send a few of these cars to our Bathurst 12 hour next year please?
Add the XE to your Project family in British Racing Green with BRM orange highlights. Now thats cool.
No silly track testing for gentleman Harry - "I'll stick to Burford, thank you". Lovely!
Excellent and informative video as usual Harry. Ever thought of collection of stories, reference your life with cars and travel, as a published book ? Something like maybe Peter Egan’s ‘Leanings’
John Paterson
What were projects 1-6?
Thanks Harry, fabulous review! I so want one.
This thing is the king of super saloons. Can't wait for them to do an I-Pace SVR.
Jaguar continues to produce absolutely stunning cars. Too bad we here in the
states don't have the refinement and style of these fine motors. We have a few
fast cars but nothing like this. Great review.
My first motorbike (CB450S from 1986) had the same dual spring rate system in the forks
Wow what a review, i like the part where you take the wheel off :)
About helper springs, they are there just to put some tension on the main springs when the car is airborne, they are totaly compressed when car is on the ground.
After this video i respect the giulia Q even more because jag had to go all out to beat the time on the nurburgring.
Brilliant as always. Top Gear has a vacancy.
Harry. You are one lucky bugger. What a Jag!
That is one stunning car! Well done to Jaguar👌. Great video and review!
Awesome bit of kit. Why is the steering wheel on the wrong side though?
That moment at the beginning of the video. You just know it will be LOUD when driving off!
Them front and rear bottom arch going to get a battering from stones, Will need PPF for protection on them parts with that cut out
Brilliantly pointless yet
Jaguar are to be applauded for developing the P8 and to showcase their technical capability. Great review and love the rear end look.
Nice review as always Harry. Are you going to review the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio for comparison?
love it - " vested interest because I've bought one" - classic line
That XE looks and sounds amazing, it's like a bonkers touring car for the streets
Been waiting for this car! Love the look and sound! Now all that rests me is get the money. And my drivers license ( not that far away from it)
Great positioning of camera with steering wheel over speed dial 😁
Harry your a legend. Car is pretty good too.
This is my favourite bit when the Jag is obviously trying to wind Harry and with understated British enthusiasm at the end of the 0-60 all he says is "yes". Had me in tears! ruclips.net/video/j2cvr68vlHc/видео.htmlm34s
Superb video Harry
Why is there not an option for proper manual gearing with a lever? That would really make it a more experience focused car. I know it was made to make the ring record but the owners aren't going to set records on streets. Also has he taken delivery? We've not heard anything from Harry about it yet.
