I encountered my first berserker queen yesterday. I somehow got so goddamn lucky that after hitting her once before for like, 4 damage, one of my grenadiers got an execution on her and insta-killed.
You're lucky she was isolated, your squad was setup to respond and that you had rupture and shred on your ranger who also got a hair trigger activation. But other then that you handled the situation skillfully and you were well prepared, so it certainly wasn't all luck. One thing that I find very helpful in dealing with rulers is scouting using concealment (with rangers, reapers or battlescanners). If you can let them patrol into you on their turn and have your full sqaud overwatch on a ruler, add some venom and dragon rounds and an acid grenade and you can just mop them up on your turn.
That's why I moved the stun Lancer like I did, I wanted to get her closer so I wouldn't attract anymore potential pods Which was a good plan, cause I found out on my next turn, a sectopod was right around that doorway lol
I got lucky that way. I had set up my squad on overwatch while the Berserker Queen was busy fighting a muton for whatever reason. Once she killed the muton and few civilians, she moved closer to the squad triggering overwatch. Went from 2/3rd health to 4 bars. Then finished her with combat protocol.
The bes tactic against the Queen is basically give her dots with things like Gas bomb and Fire bomb. You can stop her dead in the tracks without give her a single time for move at all. The Gas Granade AoE stop her and for some reason boggles the AI to not move at all and the Fire Granade prevents her to use melee. Combine that with venom rounds or incendiary rounds and Acid bomb and a Templar with Fortress and bladestorm or simply bring everything who has a free action / way to give more than one action (like bonds or a Psy with inspire) and you can literally one OTK (or even take one turn more without retaliation) to kill it.
