With this method you will defeat alien rulers in one turn with guarantee.
I am not using any additional mods for game. This 'war of the Chosen' version of XCOM 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will write strategy for Archon King because he toughest of rulers.
Archon King has 5 points in armour & 120 health.
**Since alien rulers take reaction as soon as any of your soldier performs action, it is important that you do maximum damage through sneak attack.
***Reaper is most important in this mission to find out where the ruler is. First scout the area then take down all enemies with the help of sniper or other soldiers if you can. It takes time but this is safest way.
Soldier abilities: Reaper with two sharpnels & banish skill.
Two grenadiers with salvo & hollow targeting skills.
Sniper with fan fare skill & shadow keeper pistol ( I like shadow keeper more because it gives +10 aim)
Keep in mind that I gave superior perception PCS & Superior scope to my grenadiers & sniper. With this there is little chance they will miss target.
Faction Bonuses: I used increase effect of weapon modifications & improved PCS.
Breakthroughs: Improved beam weapons & pistols. I was not sure how pistols will serve me but glad that I did.
Maybe you will get better bonuses too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strategy:
*Throw sharpnels & give reaper extra action before detonation. It is important to give reaper action or this method will not work. Now use blaster. Blaster is very handy since it is guided & hits exact spot ignoring obstacles. With this attack you will do 17 damage & all armour will be shreded.
Now use frost grenade & then rupture Archon king. Now he will take twice the damage from every attack. Here you will do 18 damage at least.
Lightning attack from sniper this is free action. So no alien reaction. 10 damage & you can use talon rounds to make it effective.
Time for fan fare, 30 damage with just pistol!
When Archon king reaches his half health he will open the rift & try to flee.
I used ranger but you do not need to. Instead you will use Reaper with banish skill for 60 damage. And that is how you win.
One of my favorite XCOM memories was encountering a ruler early on, but the moment they moved after being discovered, my sniper on overwatch murdered them immediately with one of those weapon mods that has a small% chance to insta-kill. Such a massive anticlimax but hilarious.
I think the mods made repeaters specifically to kill the rulers.
@@jerometruitt2731 the repeaters and stun weapons are more likely to apply their effect against a king, I think that's why they give you a gun and ax that stun
I had that happen to me to and eversince i run a skirmisher with repeater lol
@@jerometruitt2731
they existed before rulers and are so OP they make rulers into nothing. i think they should have made rulers immune to it, as well as the chosen...
its too good.
I had a S.P.A.R.K. with Julian's voice equipped with a repeater which activated on the Archon King.
After executing the ruler he said, "Doesn't seem all that difficult to me."
I love Julian.
Jesus Christ, you literally destroyed that poor Archon king, and I didn’t even think I could feel bad for him!
Pro strat- Banishment with superior repeater and superior magazine. Also get the "Weapon Upgrade effects are enhanced" region bonus/ breakthrough / covert op stuff for better chances to otk these pesky alien leaders!
Banishment with magazine is an incredibly good tool in general
@@blazethegryphon9990 I'm inclined to say it is the most OP ability in xcom 2, plus if you get blue screen rounds (or talon with soul harvest), if you have tactical rigging you could easily clear two or three late game pods with a plasma vektor plus superior mag size.
Nice but not even necessary. 5% repeaters on all 6 soldiers and you're pretty much guaranteed to get the execution just make sure everyone shoots the ruler every turn.
@@jerometruitt2731 Yeah, but that gives the ruler a lot of bonus actions to ruin your day. Banishment + repeater + expanded mag will usual kill them without a chance to strike back.
With rulers, action economy becomes incredibly valuable because giving them extra moves/attacks is a nightmare.
@@jerometruitt2731 Also Weapon Upgrades rely a lot on RNG. I only got 3 Superior Repeaters in my entire game, all the monster loot, mission rewards, and Black Market purchases only got me 3.
Rulers: Exist
This guy: let me introduce you to a little move I call deletion
That crit fan fire though
I’m curious when you used lightning hands why didn’t the ruler respond? Is it because it was a free action? (To avoid confusion I’m talking about the archon king fight)
Yes.
@@amixp2745 thanks I’ll keep that in mind but are there any exceptions to that like I feel like I remember a ruler response when I used a grapple?
@@danielliebergall856 Grapple does not trigger ruler reaction at all. I defeated it several times by using grapple.
@@amixp2745 ok thanks for the help
@@danielliebergall856 Also rulers do not react whenever you get free action due to hair trigger.
Viper King: Literally killed in one turn after appear with the help of frost bomb + Ranger/Templar with blade storm and Skirmisher with ripjack (so i had both procks at the same time). Then is question to leave the banish for last.
Berserker Queen: in my playthrough i always 1 or 2 turn her with a combination of gas granade + dragon rounds/granade and multiple free actions skills. End up killing it at 1st turn.
King Archon: its the hard one when it comes to healthpool in this case.
I believe you. It would have been a pleasure to see it. Everyone has a potential to achieve that special status. What do you say?
Gaming community connects easily than several great philosophers! because we are here to have fun. :)
Well done
F’ing Bradford with the capt obvioso
That was nice
Repeaters hit different.
That was seriously satisfying
Wait so, lightning hands doesn't trigger a reaction because it doesn't cost an action?
Pretty much, there's a couple of actions that work the same way and they're definitely worth using.
yeah so if you really want to you can cheese the rulers pretty hard by frost bombing and then comboing turn based free actions and then just ending your turn til they refresh since rulers only get a turn on reaction and not during the alien turn. Personally though i prefer to just go for them naturally, you can kill them all fairly quickly once you know what you're doing. i never have the archon king alive past mag weapons.
yeah, anything that's a free action doesn't cost a reaction, like using the grappling hook or i think some of the ruler suit abilities
@@jacobely6826 Are you sure about that? i've heard the rulers get multiple actions if you end your turn early and still had actions remaining on some of your troops
@@lisabilby2006 potentially, im not really sure its been a while since ive played. but i definitely freeze the rulers in place with a frost bomb and then simply end my turn and lightening hands them to death. Never failed to work for me but if you try it maybe make a save beforehand incase my methodology is flawed. never had a problem personally.
now that is some tactical play...geezus christ!
The usual strat is to just get a reaper, put a superior repeater and superior expanded mag on their rifle, use banish and just watch them die. So far I've not seen a single enemy in the game (and I tested it on every big hp enemy, so all rulers, chosen, avatars, sectpods and gatekeepers) and even if it's just a magnetic one they always get executed. Might not be an absolute guarentee but I think it not happening is the less likely option.
That strat has a 99.9982% chance that it will work with 100% accuracy, so i bet most xcom 2 veterans have seen it fail at least once.
I legit haven't seen myself what the queen and the archon can do simply because I scout with a reaper and then they just end the poor things in less than a half of a banish usually 💀
You only really need the repeater for Leaders, everything else in the game dies just to Banish with a plasma rifle + expanded mag and the 'ignore armor' skill
Superior Repeaters have a 20% chance to activate. So theoretically you should get it in 1 in 5. But if RNJesus punishes you, there's a chance you might not get it even with 7 shots.
@@khalltlag628 The actual chance is 79.1%. That is with a superior repeater and both PCS and weapon upgrade resistance orders. 20% chance to execute means 80% chance to fail. If you shoot seven times the chance to fail is 80%^7 which is 20.9%.
Given that this is XCOM baby you will fail. Good news is 7 shots is still a ton of damage if you plan for failure and shred it's armor first or you have a reaper with tactical rigging and AP rounds equipped. Best strat is to freeze then rupture then banish. Guaranteed to trigger the rift and leave the Archon on low hp even if the execute fails. Then move in with a slash on a bladestorm ranger and you should get your kill or if your bladestorm hit misses (it's XCOM baby) he is in one shot territory the next time you encounter him.
Reaper with banish
Superior repeater
Expanded mag
Done.
You can also lay down fire/gas and acid between you and ruler to get some extra damage as they move.
One important note here is he didn't break concealment until he found the Alien Ruler. If you're already out of concealment, this is gonna be much harder because your soldiers will be starting beyond sight range, and that distance is gonna tank your shot percentage, and moving to close the distance will trigger a Ruler reaction.
how do you have 15-16 damage with the sword? not even the katana blade has that much raw damage. .
nevermind, he used rupture
Banish is real op. Too op.
Good stuff! Where did you find the second frost bomb?
Hi.
It is 'Heavy ordnance' ability of Grenadiers which allows them to use bonus frost.
How did your grenadiers crit with the Rupture even though they had 0% to crit each time?
Edit: "Rupture shot deals critical damage..." That's how.
I got this achievement completely by accident on legendary, I was in a pretty terrible situation and only had like 2 characters with any AP left, one of them got a repeater execution on the berserker queen.
Anyone capable of survive branded Xcom random is reaching zen and so could destroy worlds by light pinkie's move. Not surprising.
Been playing Xcom 2 with a friend lately. I play a Specialist with the 15% chance to insta kill the target. My first shot killed this guy and also the Warlock on the next turn. My friend says its too OP right after that happened.
And then it never gets a single sectopod, gatekeeper or any other even remotely important enemy, instead deciding to execute troopers and officers
How do you play this game with a friend?
@@Charles.Wright Using a screen share program. We let each player pick a character/ operator as our main guy and take turns moving each one.
Was sad as hell when I lost my first character but the second one I picked was badass. The one I mentioned above
How exactly you managed to survive long enough to have all that gear? In my playthroughs they aways come after me way before
Step 1: exercise self restraint and don’t do the mission early
Step 2: get plasma weapons
Step 3: activate viper king by doing the mission(preferably get a banish capable reaper by then as well as a bladestorm Templar or Ranger for it)
Step 4: profit
@@suitcaseofsmarts How do you avoid activating the Alien Rulers? Do you mean not taking the "Attack the Alien Facility" missions? Is there a punishment for delaying those missions?
@@One.Zero.One101 turn on the story mission and don’t do that mission until you get plasma weapons
I would like to see a reaper use banish + repeater and insta kill the ruler
So how do you get two frost genades?
Heavy Ordnance perk
mad
Does spacing your soldiers out not really matter? I thought that was really important, unless that’s just for early game or something
Depends on what you're up against. Of you're fighting mechs or the big green buff dudes you want to keep space because they like to throw nades other than that and maybe a handful of other units you don't really have to worry about AOE attacks as most of those have a warm up time that will allow you to move your soldiers out of the way
His aim was to kill it in 1 turn, so in this particular case it didn't matter.
God damn I wish I had WOTC
The whole franchise is on sale on Steam right now, it would probably be a good time to get it.
Saw this too late my dude. Was on sale Oct 1 through 14 for $10 US. I picked my copy up then.
Why do your pistols do so much damage? And the ranger does 15-16 damage with the katana. I don't believe i've seen damage this high in my playthrough even after all upgrades
Hi. Chosen Katana has been upgraded twice with +2 damage in above video. Ruptured enemies get extra damage. Shadowkeeper has been upgraded too which is plasma version. Best when it comes to aim & critical chance. Make sure to unlock +1 damage upgrades through research maximum times.
I just hope they have not nerfed chosen items. Game went through a lot of changes past year.
@@amixp2745 Oh right I forgot about rupture. It makes sense now. Thanks for the answer
Is this with the Missions from the Dlcs disabled?
this is dlc footage
@@michalschmidt5951 yes, yes, I know. But when starting wotc there is the option to start without having to do the dlc missions but still having the dlc contend. I wanted to know if the dlc missions were disabled and so the archon was encountered alone in the wild. I only ever played with missions on and there I always encounter him with other archons and not alone
I literally one shotted the berserker queen at first sight with a repeater lol
Niceee
Meanwhile, i'm getting my ass handed to me on a silver platter trying to survive the first month of XCOM: EW Long War Impossible. I don't know if i'll ever get on the same level as the guy in this video 😅
Legit.
repeater(10%) on reaper and banish is enough.... all 3 bosses were killed by me whit 2 action points... so OP
Didn't even use banish. Repeaters on all soldiers was more than enough. Never had to have a second encounter ever.
………. I managed to instant kill 2 of them… the viper king and the Berserker Queen
I hate that one so much. I'd take the viper and Beserker both over that one.
There's probably a dozen ways you could do this at that point. How are the 'rulers' even still alive and undamaged at that point is what I'd like to know because they typically show up far earlier in most playthroughs and you generally have to damage them to get them to leave so this took some extremely suspect set up for something supposedly without cheats. Kinda bogus to show a perfect setup as some sort of 'guide' if that's what this is... or is this just that one time you waited until you had your entire team maxed out before you dunked on a ruler?
Hmmm. This was my 47th Ironman + Legend campaign.
Whether rulers show at random missions or at specific sites, depends on the simple DLC setting you choose at the start of game. So my setting was integrated DLC. Game gives player freedom to create strategy. If they go unprepared then it is their choice.
気持ちええのう
배니시 2방만쐈네 ㅋㅋㅋ
How the hell you have 2 frost bomb ? The only way is using console command which consider cheating.
Grenadiers have an an ability that gives them two uses of one grenade, and an ability that lets them use an action after firing a grenade.
There's an easier way, reaper + superior mag + superior repeater + banish = quite likely execution
Nice but overkill. 5% repeaters on every soldier and make sure they all shoot the ruler you WILL eventually get the execution. Ive never had it take more than 3 turns and I always get the kill on the first encounter.
@@jerometruitt2731 better safe than sorry, they can build Nasty combos
yep... very interesting gameplay... probably savescummed the game when you met one of those rulers in a real encounter with timer and additional enemies... every 13 year old can kill those in this situation
Rulers nerfs on wotc made them basically a joke
I kill with blade dance and amplify so easy
