HERE'S WHY THE DODGE DEMON IS NOT WORTH $150,000

  • California car dealers are the most notorious out of all the states. Known for screwing over customers, we explore what this experience is truly like as a buyer. The all new Dodge SRT Demon is the fastest muscle car to roll off the assembly line. Advertised as obtainable below the $100,000 margin. This is certainly not the case when it comes to the middleman. Seeking more than a 50% profit margin on this new vehicle, Dodge dealers are not here to make repeat customers, they are here for the big sale.
Coming from an automotive enthusiast, I explain the true manner of the market adjustments. From picking up a Shelby GT350R and GT500 Super Snake, I explain the dealership game, the logic, and what to avoid.

It depends on income ratio. But personally $150,000 is to much for most people unless you are wealthy. I am cheap I guess I wouldn't finance a vehicle more than a 1/3 of my yearly income.

LOL. I'm in a base A10 '18 GT w/3.55's. E85 tuning, suspension and drag radials, less than 45k in the entire set up, and I run flat 11's @ 124. I keep up with Hellcats for far less money, wait till I go boost, add 10k to the investment and its a Demon killer running high 8's. Ya can't beat Ford's coyote builds for the cost of admission.@@TeW33zy

I would bet money that if you went back to that same dealership today, those sales people who fabricated information, would no longer be representing that dealership. Once a customer realizes that they were lied to, you have lost their trust and business. For the duration of their warranty and any future car purchases.
If you feel like you are being fed lies, like at any professional outfit, ask to speak the manager. They deserve to know and you do not deserved to be lied to, especially if you walked into their establishment with the intent on making such a considerable investment.

I asked the guy, "So you think I am going to pay you $5,000 for the privilege of paying sticker price?" He was like, "Well, they are really popular." I laughed at him...like, out loud. Long story short, I paid under sticker price but not much under as they were popular. I would NEVER pay over sticker for shit. Its the principal of the thing.

And I have 210% agree with you I was actually trying to buy a Camaro SS back in 2010 they say the car cost at 33 thousand almost a 35000 for an SS2 and of course I believed in a dealership fees which is like $10,000 on top of that will bring it up to about 45,000 almost 50 so even though I did not like the price I figure I'll save money and I'll go ahead and do it when I got to the dealership the car was like 80,000 and I was laughing my ass off and ask him where did they get that number they said that was a dealership fee and that the actual price for the car! laughed my ass off and then I went across the street and bought me a Ford mustang GT for 25000 great deal and the best car ever driven today. Sad part is I'm a big Chevy and Ford fan and I would love to have both cars but honestly Chevy Dodge ford are being shady with their prices in their cars and shame on them for that. I will just wait till the car comes out wait maybe one or two years when the price drops find one use with like 30,000 miles and buy at a better price

Really? LOL you don't know the car at all. 840 HP at the crank on 91 octane pump gas. The first place I went with mine was straight to a local performance shop to have it dyno'd. I was going to take it back to the dealer if it was any less than advertised. I did the same thing with my old Hyabusa. They told me it would do 187mph.. It only hit 185.. So I took it back. I'm an asshole like that so before you open your mouth do some research.

      You dont own shit.

    • @natev580
      @natev580 5 лет назад

784 rwhp on 91 pump. Equates to around 840 at the crank. 812 @ rwhp on race. Puts it well over the 840 mark. Those are my dyno numbers. If you are stupid enough to live on the coast somewhere, I guess it sucks to be you and you should probably stick to those little garden snakes. They seem to like it down there. :) Also.... 11.4? With you driving it maybe LOL Low 10s on a bad day.

Dodge did address the markups by telling the *STEALER* ships that cars have to be ordered with an owners name because the dash plate and the demon crate are serialized to the owners name and that any order placed without an owner name would come with blank plates and the orders with owner names would be filled first and anything else would be at the end of the production run. I don't know if this ever materialized it would be interesting to see if any of these marked up cars have blank serial number plates on the dash. If they do that tells me the dealer paid for the car in full (not floor planned). And I hope they all get stuck with them.

Production was from spring of 2017 until July 2018 and only 3000 units were produced. It's main purpose was for drag racing but NHRA banned it because as produced, it didn't comply with NHRA safety equipment rules. NHRA also require a competition license for a car that quick and fast. A license that has to renewed every NHRA season. You can't just apply for a NHRA competition license. You have to race the car to get it. Car banned for improper safety equipment, getting that license is a problem without spending bigly buck$ to make it comply with the NHRA rules.

Like you said, these markups happen all the time. It used to be mostly with high-end import cars, but we're now seeing it every year with domestic vehicles that really aren't that "rare". The first case that I remember vividly was the debut of the "Terminator" Cobra in '03. That was roughly a ~$40k car new, and I remember seeing $15k-$18k markups for about the fist 6 months after they were released. If you have the money and it doesn't matter to you, then more power to you. I'm the type of person that refuses to buy brand new to begin with because of how bad of an investment it is. Paying 50%+ markup just because you can't wait 6 months to a year is insanity to me.

Marco Vanni then don’t buy it! Specialty cars bring a premium However mainstream models make very little at the dealer level but the manufacturers are killing it. The Demon allocation goes to dealers that meet overall sales targets and perform on the entire challenger line some dealers won’t get a single allocation some get one some get 4-5 so now that you have your allocation do you let one go at MSRP at MSRP with no options it’s 1850 from invoice to MSRP or do you maximize your profit on a 1 of a kind opportunity for your dealership knowing full well that most of your challengers sell for hundreds of dollars profit. It really boils down to shearing the sheep vs slaughtering the sheep for me I’d rather make a reasonable profit and take care of you so well you send your family to me. And I do this buy fitting the machine to the buyer rather than the buyer to the machine first and I spend 10 hrs per week knowing my product flaws and all if there is press on my car it’s my job to know it as it’s also my job to find out the whys because when the why’s get strong the how’s get very easy

Some dealers lost their licenses, some were franchises. They just didn't license to the warnings. There will be more dealers in the next year that may have repercussions. Chrysler made that a policy for those and some were held back on receiving them in stock due to investigations on the markups. Some states were allowing them, some had auditors come in as secret shoppers. I have heard and read that some customers filed civil suites.

If you live in California buy your car from another state and drive it back because you will save 5-15k on any car and get to enjoy yourself testing your car and breaking it in the drive home and truly make sure it works properly especially if you have a warranty. It's not because you can build a thousand horse ponycars for a tenth as much, but it is because not only is it the only mass production car ever capable of wheelie launching, but also because it humiliates supercars costing many times more.

@@TeW33zy He also spelled you're like this "yore" and you said nothing about that. I'm not sure if he is uneducated or if he honestly thinks that he's being cool by looking like an idiot.

I am a huge Demon fan and I build one online in Canada and it only cost me 120K CND (90K US). I was gonna be critical to this video but SP makes a lot of sense... $150k USA is insane even for Demon. And if it is so rare, the price should not depreciate over time. Mclaren F1 is worth over $2 million ($15,620,000 sold recently) but its original price was around $900K.
