Both characters were wasted, Mephiles was in one of the worst sonic games ever made and Infinite was written by the worst writter in this franchise's history. The reason why Mephiles was chosen over Infinite was that this would be the last time we would ever see him, this time rift is the only way an encounter with him would be possible, while Infinite can still come back at any time. I dont think it makes sense for Mephiles to return without Iblis. Mephiles IS Solaris so it doesn't make sense for him to have any other motivation than to merge with Iblis again
Fun fact, it was confirmed that a version of Iblis still exists inside of Blaze. After she sealed it away and sacrificed herself she ended up sent across space and flung into the Sol Dimension, and after the Solaris Reset she was reborn as a denizen of that dimension. She doesn't KNOW that she has Iblis inside of her, but she does. I suppose there is also the Ifrit, plus lots of other big scary monsters that Mephiles totally could fuse with if he couldn't find Iblis.
@@MrAppleSalad That's cool I had no idea. Even so you'd need to do a lot of contrivance to arrange the return of both Mephiles and Iblis. I love Mephiles but I think he's just too intertwined with the plot of 06 to function well outside of it
@MrAppleSalad wait... are you suggesting Sonic Rush canonically takes place AFTER '06? Nah, cuz that would totally make so much sense, it even gives Burning Blaze a proper origin!
@@aceblaz5502 Take a look again at the scene where Blaze sacrifices herself at the end of 06, it's actually a pretty genius piece of connective storytelling. She tells Silver to seal her in another dimension, and when she turns transparent you can see the cuffs of her shoes change colour for a split second as she fades away. That's the same coloration as Burning Blaze, and the choice of the word "Dimension" is not a coincidence. Maekawa, the writer for 06, even directly confirmed that this was the intention. They wanted to connect Blaze's story in 06 with her appearance in Rush, though unfortunately a lot of the things they had planned were scrapped due to time constraints so Blaze ended up being pretty half-baked in the final release. Still, that last scene is brilliantly done, and yet people still argue over Blaze's origin when it's so clearly laid out for us.
I would be fine if some moronic but ingenious character manages to create a small rift in the space time quantinium and part of mephiles manages to go through. Mephiles then manipulate and gaslight the character into helping him fully come back to existance and it will take a "long" time (more than one game ?) for Sonic and co to figure out the character's main goal and the identity of what they want to bring onto their world.
I would really love to see a remaster of Sonic 06 with how great the story's potential in that game and how the gameplay nowadays keep getting better and better
mephiles has always been my favourite sonic character, if you take him at face value he’s very one-note but if you take the time to analyse a lot of small things about 06 he quickly becomes one of the most (maybe unintentionally) complex characters in sonic. his story and the solaris project have a lot of themes that aren’t able to explored through other characters (very religious lore) and so i really like him. i think bringing him back would have to be done very carefully but it could definitely be pulled off. his new characterisation in sxsg gives him a new layer and i think it’d be pretty cool to explore that. but at the end of the day this is still sega, and despite their new polish i’m not sure theyd be able to pull it off well enough sadly
You got to remember Mephiles is a time God I think as of right now he's just not got all his strength as he's currently trapped in some type of purgatory and he needs to get out of it before he can regain full power and restore himself to the timeline. Then it depends on what he does next which will possibly be trying to somehow restore Iblis and keep failing. It would possibly be interesting if they have a slight side of tragedy for Mephiles, all he wants is to just become Solaris once again but he can't. And one of his actual ways could be trying to recreate the events from the 06 timeline, seeing if somehow that could revive Iblis though realising that he can't. Then when that fails his next motive is then trying to basically rebuild the timeline to the best of his ability but realises that he is not strong enough to do it. Then finally his final motive is to attempt to make an amalgamation of Iblis which works though is very volatile. But it is enough for him to become Solaris, though it is then revealed by either Tails or Robotnik that this version of Solaris is unstable and if they do not stop it then it will implode and then explode taking all time with it. Sonic, Shadow, and Silver then have to defeat the unstable Solaris though it is slightly stronger than before. But ultimately they defeat him and reduce Mephiles back into his base form. Then when Mephiles states that he wanted to become whole again, Sonic will then say that its impossible telling him that no matter what he tries he'll be unable to as it will always fail. Then finally Sonic tells Mephiles that he needs to move on. Then as Mephiles thinks about it there is a moment at the end where possibly due to what Mephiles had been doing all of time is at threat and they need to fix the time space rupture that Mephiles possibly caused before it ripped apart time. It will be here were Mephiles tells them to get out whilst he stays behind to fix his damage closing the time space rupture which ultimately seals him once again into his purgatory this time accepting it as his banishment. I think this could actually bring on a lot of good messages of redemption and moving on. Possibly they could also do it as a type of apology for 06 or try and make it as a way to redeem Sonic 06. Though more likely the apology letter. This is something else. As part of the story they bring back Elise, with Mephiles either using his powers to influence Robotnik into kidnapping her since that is what happened in the 06 timeline and he needs to have that recreated. As he recalls Sonic saving her multiple times and expects that to happen this time however. During Sonic's mission to save her he meets this Prince character who has heard of Elise getting captured and is on his way to save her. Sonic agrees to let the Prince help and after saving Elise it's revealed that the Prince is actually Elise's fiancé. This could be a character a drummed up called Prince Kyiden for a story. Either way this completely throws a spanner into Mephiles plan as it revolved around Sonic and Elise forming an attachment and now that is impossible. This possibly results in Mephiles revealing himself by accident and having a boss fight with Sonic which then during it Shadow shows up and helps with Mephiles retreating. It is possibly that which results in Mephiles going to his timeline recreation plan.
In my opinion mephiles doesn’t need to return (but it would be cool if he did), but I did have an few ideas how he could come back: he may look like a hedgehog but he is as slippery as a snake, so it’s not hard to believe he could have somehow escaped when the time eater was destroyed. Another idea is that he’s just so powerful that he just breaks into the timeline by force, but it’s a timeline without iblis for him to merge with. him being a godlike being that will always somehow return would be cool but ultimately if they bring him back it should be his final time as a main villain and any other appearances would just be cameos. There is one other scenario where him being back makes sense, which is if silver ever gets something like shadow generations
I read somewhere that it was confirmed that a part of Iblis still lives inside of Blaze to this day canonically, as it was taken with her to Sol dimension, meaning the timeline being erased didn't actually affect her and the Iblis she sealed within herself, this could also explain why she recognized Crisis City, maybe to Blaze 06 was like a foggy dream rather than just never happening? so for her it did happen but she may not think it was real, she vaguely remembers Crisis City, but not Silver or the actual events that happened. Also, the things i will say next are all merely speculation but i think Sega could potentially cleanup the 06 lore and timeline with something like this: so basically Blaze existing in Silver's future made no sense right? it couldn't happen before Sonic Rush, so what if the events for her went more like, Sonic Rush -> Sonic 06 -> Sonic Rush Adventure, having 06 in-between could work with this theory i'll explain next, so maybe Sega could set Solaris to be the Sol dimension parallel to what Chaos is to Sonic's dimension, they could claim that it was released into Sonic's dimension when Blaze used the Sol Emeralds at the end of Sonic Rush, then Soleanna found it as "The Flame of Hope" (being a time god Solaris could've inserted itself in that point in time of Sonic's dimension) and they began experimenting with it, but their logic was flawed in using the Chaos Emeralds to control a being from another dimension, which requiered the Sol Emeralds instead, this could explain Solaris becoming unstable so violently as response to energy from the Chaos Emeralds, and that's how everything we saw when Shadow and Sillver went to the past happened, so maybe for Blaze at the end of Sonic Rush instead of being sent back to Sol dimension she was sent to Silver's future, as the events that lead to it where indirectly her fault, this theory could also explain why Blaze was helping Silver out instead of being at Sol dimension and why it was so easy for Blaze to seal Iblis within herself while Silver couldn't, she's Sonic's equivalent from the Sol dimension after all, so maybe it was her purpose for being on the future to begin with, seal Iblis back into Sol dimension even if within herself (she'd basically have the same curse as Elise, but she's already pretty stoic tbh so she'd have less trouble keeping it under control). I know it's not a perfect theory of course, but if it was more elaborated and properly excecuted it could be a near perfect way to fix these major plot holes on 06 without ruining Blaze's character (like the other theory that claims 06 happened before Rush), or at the very least, it could fully explain why Blaze was there to begin with and give a proper backstory to Solaris' existence. This could even lead to a reboot of 06, where Blaze is replacing Elise's role (so we get rid of all the dumb romance and the infamous kiss scene that make it so controversial), the events play put relatively the same but in a new setting instead of Soleanna (maybe we go back to Sol dimension?) Mephiles has a much better plan this time to free Iblis from Blaze without making the same mistakes that lead to him being deleted from the timeline in the first place, and also actively seeks revenge on the 3 Hedgehogs for messing up his original plans, and we finally give both Blaze and Silver the relevance they desperately need while bringing back Mephiles in full glory on a better game.
Robbie Daymond's performance as Mephiles was chef's kiss. It really got me to sympathize with him. I really want him to come back again in a bigger role
Here's an idea, Shadow opened the boss gate hidden away. They can use that to say that despite the timeline being restored the stuff Shadow or even Sonic did in whitespace left some changes or leftovers that were kept around. Eggman was also manipulating the timeline and BlackDoom was shown to manipulate the whitespace. What I'm saying is that the timeline doesn't necessarily of had to of been fixed fully (think of the Archie Sonic Comic reboot storyline). It did let Sonic and Co remember Classic Sonic after all and the Phantom Ruby also did damage to the timeline with Classic Sonic so there is the story of the timeline still not fully restored. So Mephiles can use his natural time manipulation abilities to take advantage of that.
I think if they were to bring him back, it’d be like how Bill Cipher was brought back in Book of Bill, have him in a situation where his power doesn’t mean anything, and have him rely on desperate manipulation through a book or something.
The best way for them to bring him back is using the fact shadow interacted with him so he does have a memory of mephalis like take a page out of doctor who for bringing him back
There is a strong possibility of Mephiles returning in the future since Sonic Team(through Ian Flynn) confirmed that Iblis is still sealed with Blaze's soul in the main timeline. As long as that's the case, we may very well since Mephiles (and Solaris) making a comeback in a future title.
I think Sega chose to bring Mephiles back in Shadow Gens so they could see how the public would react. Considering how everyone loved it, I think our existence complex boy might have a future, but only Ian Flynn can say.
And he was outside of time and space, or in a dimension were past present and future met as one so even though he’s from a deleted timeline, he survive because he wasn’t in the timeline
Personally, I think Mephiles would look great in a hypothetical future Silver game. Since, just like with Shadow, they kind of had a dynamic, with it being Mephiles who made Silver start this whole time travel thing by manipulating him. So it kind of makes a little sense for them to meet and confront each other, kind of to show a difference in Time-lines, metaphorically.
I believe if he does come back he probably used shadows shadow in the manor of seconds before he gets sealed up, meaning shadows shadow is literally mephiles.
A part of me doesn't want Mephelis to come back. He was an amazing villain and bringing him back for a 3rd time feels like Mephelis wouldn't be as impactful
Eggman seems to like messing with time a lot, between 06, CD, Rivals 2, Gens, and a bunch of comic plots. Mephiles could reemerge when he does it again... Or maybe, hear me out: _Sonic Rush 3._ Eggman Nega is Eggman's grandson, yet he keeps appearing in the present timeframe, which means he's time travelling as well. This gives the possibility of Mephiles coming back, within the Sol Dimension. Blaze's home. Both her and the Sol Emeralds have inherent connections to fire. So does Mephiles, given Solaris was Soleanna's 'eternal flame', and his other half in Iblis was known as the Flames of Disaster. And Iblis was sealed inside of Blaze at the end of Silver's story in '06. Even if the Rush games' Blaze isn't the same as '06 Blaze, Sonic Team could almost certainly come up with a reason for Mephiles to actively pursue her or the Sol Emeralds.
Dude of course he was brought back here, when else would they get the opportunity, despite how it seems the events this game isn't actually time travel cus it's actually outside of time which is like the only setting mephiles could return in due to his in universe retcon
For me the explanation for why shadow went to chaos island and Sonic’s version of kingdom valley is because this is Sonic’s past and future, not shadows
I would love for Mephiles to show up in spin offs, like a Racing game, but be the only one taking it overly seriously, like he knows that he is being pulled from the void just for that party thing and that is his torture, that is his hell
Well I think there’s one way to bring Mephalis back. He only needs to get one piece of himself back into the timeline to exist right? He can easily pretend to lose while actually riding on Shadow’s back, slowly rebuilding himself and whispering in people’s ears.
@goldenascension8635 idk didn't watch it but if there is that means silver will probably appear and same for mephiles hear me out on a post credit scene it slowly zooms in a ruined place and we see scepter of darkness
Some remit of Mephiles must exist for him to be pulled into white space. The Time Eater doesn't create things, it pulls things in and devours them. So for Crisis City to be in White Space, for Mephiles to be in White Space, some small piece of them must exist. The question is where did it come from? And in that manner, where did the Time Eater come from? I hope they explore this in a future game.
Considering white space existed after Sonic and friends left the egg men trapped their if Mephiles was trapped in white space after Shadow Generations they could use that as a way of bringing him back in future games
honestly if they wanted to make mephiles appear again they could make a sonic 06 remake in the style of ff7 remake where its clear theres some time travel stuff occurring that makes the events not occur the same as the original and use that as an opportunity to change the plot significantly to make it a new game
I think the best thing that could happen if Mephiles gets restored to the timeline is if he ultimately wins in the next game. And then, the next-next game would be a continuation for how to defeat him and fix the main Sonic universe. Basically Mephiles would be like Thanos and would win in the first game, just like Thanos did in Infinity War. But then, the heroes would make a comeback in the second game and defeat Mephiles, just like how the Avengers restored the population of the entire universe and defeated Thanos in Endgame.
i feel like saying "mephiles isnt canon" isnt the right word to use since he is still part of the sonic lore, maybe saying he was canonically erased from the timeline is a better explaination
Him not coming back is what made him so powerful and evil. If you make him like a zavok or eggman then he’s just cringe. He should never come back despite how great he was
Sega could of just hired the project 06 guy, repack the games and sell them in modern consoles and voila, the 06 game is revived, they put little to no investment on it and the guy can profit off his work, if they did invest in the game then it could be even better
While I love Mephiles as a villain I don’t want him to come back in canon, it would completely ruin Elise’s sacrifice at the end of 06 and would make no sense
There is no future for him, ever
No… I want him… to EXIST
The most tragic thing about Mephiles is that "I want to exist" is a double entendre.

Mephiles can try to exist with the phantom ruby. By influencing infinite as his protege
It did let Sonic and Co remember Classic Sonic after all and the
Phantom Ruby also did damage to the timeline with Classic Sonic so there is the story of the timeline still not fully restored.
So Mephiles can use his natural time manipulation abilities to take advantage of that.
I hope so. That way, Sonic can return the favor and murder Mephiles back.
Mephiles is literally immortal though.
@ That’s cope
@@supersonicstyleatsonicspeed No. he is literally immortal, he's one half of a multiversal chaotic time god, he literally cannot be killed or die.
@ Yet he got erased from existence and now doesn’t exist at all. Definitely not immortal.
@@supersonicstyleatsonicspeed Except he DOES still exist, he exists outside of space/time. Basically a void of nothingness, but he's still alive.
Funny how Mephiles head comically overshodows the FUTURE text in the thumbnail😂
Honestly, I'd give Mephiles the Phantom Ruby to try to make Mephiles the best last-minute twist villain he could be.
I really liked his rainbowish spear blade, i wish he spammed that move more. Like multiple spear pillars coming out the ground
I felt so bad for mephiles
I think if they were to bring him back, it’d be like how Bill Cipher was brought back in Book of Bill, have him in a situation where his power doesn’t mean anything, and have him rely on desperate manipulation through a book or something.
Idk man, seeing Memphis on a go cart or something would definitely lessen him because it’s so fucking silly
What a coincidence. I just beat the Mephiles boss in Shadow Generations
Could you imagine a year of Silver or Mephiles and you have to beat him as Silver when he fused with his other half.
Mephiles would be cool in a silver generations
I believe if he does come back he probably used shadows shadow in the manor of seconds before he gets sealed up, meaning shadows shadow is literally mephiles.
A part of me doesn't want Mephelis to come back. He was an amazing villain and bringing him back for a 3rd time feels like Mephelis wouldn't be as impactful
Eggman seems to like messing with time a lot, between 06, CD, Rivals 2, Gens, and a bunch of comic plots. Mephiles could reemerge when he does it again...
Or maybe, hear me out: _Sonic Rush 3._
Eggman Nega is Eggman's grandson, yet he keeps appearing in the present timeframe, which means he's time travelling as well.
Memphis Tennessee
For me the explanation for why shadow went to chaos island and Sonic’s version of kingdom valley is because this is Sonic’s past and future, not shadows
Infinite comes back and recanons mephiles, they fuse to form a messed up imperfect version of solaria
I would love for Mephiles to show up in spin offs, like a Racing game, but be the only one taking it overly seriously, like he knows that he is being pulled from the void just for that party thing and that is his torture, that is his hell
For me, i think it'll be cool if mephiles showed up in the movie universe.
Well I think there’s one way to bring Mephalis back. He only needs to get one piece of himself back into the timeline to exist right? He can easily pretend to lose while actually riding on Shadow’s back, slowly rebuilding himself and whispering in people’s ears.
movie version of mephiles would go fire tho
Didn't the Knuckles series indirectly confirm at least Iblis existing in the mcu of Sonic?
@goldenascension8635 idk didn't watch it but if there is that means silver will probably appear and same for mephiles hear me out on a post credit scene it slowly zooms in a ruined place and we see scepter of darkness
Now he’s here because silver said “he broke through” and living in their world 🌍 (silver channel)

In this game Sonic finally interacts Mephiles.
Story
Sonic Story
Shadow Story
Silver Story
Last Story
crisis city's there in the og and has iblis i kind of want infinite as a boss along with some mania stuff in sonic x shadow generations
Probably whatever is left of 06’s timeline
A sonic 06 reimagine would probably be cool
Considering white space existed after Sonic and friends left the egg men trapped their if Mephiles was trapped in white space after Shadow Generations they could use that as a way of bringing him back in future games
honestly if they wanted to make mephiles appear again they could make a sonic 06 remake in the style of ff7 remake where its clear theres some time travel stuff occurring that makes the events not occur the same as the original and use that as an opportunity to change the plot significantly to make it a new game
I just realized... one of his attacks in the bossight is tilting towers... he got too tilted at the towers...
Probably not aside from maybe small cameos.
He better be the villain in the 6th Sonic Movie(due to the game title).
I already went over a possible story with Mephiles returning I'm not going over it again its terrable.
Memphis Tennessee needs to exist again
10:37 Allegedly? What do you mean, allegedly? There are several videos that show you the explanation. It's definitely well documented at this point.
i feel like saying "mephiles isnt canon" isnt the right word to use since he is still part of the sonic lore, maybe saying he was canonically erased from the timeline is a better explaination
He ain't coming back. The death of the Time Eater undid everything.
0:07 DAYUM
he could return if silver got a game cause mephiles was tied in with silver's story
Mephiles has a future if Sega thinks he'll bring in more money. It's all about the money, people. Never forget that.
Would be nice if SEGA just remade Sonic 06 but as a good game, maybe for 2026 and call it Sonic 26.
short answer NO if Sega doesn't care for their side characters why would they ever think about villains?
I think will be closer to 16 or 17 years not 20
Mephiles should return
12:10 - 12:15 definitely did not age well lol. A remake of the game is something they may consider doing as confirmed recently.
For me Mephiles is to Shadow what Metal Sonic is to Sonic
Him not coming back is what made him so powerful and evil. If you make him like a zavok or eggman then he’s just cringe. He should never come back despite how great he was
Sega could of just hired the project 06 guy, repack the games and sell them in modern consoles and voila, the 06 game is revived, they put little to no investment on it and the guy can profit off his work, if they did invest in the game then it could be even better
12:10
Oh my friend how wrong you are!
There is no future for him Ever.
>it's been a tough week for my Americans
It's been an amazing week.
Ugh I’m glad there’s a mod that fixes Mephiles’ voice I hate the new voice
Memphis Tennessee
oh so you're woke are you? and I was going to sub.
Welcome to tilted towers
No, he literally said so
I don't care for Mephiles' new voice; the old one was better.
While I love Mephiles as a villain I don’t want him to come back in canon, it would completely ruin Elise’s sacrifice at the end of 06 and would make no sense
