@@WanderingHeihois there any particular reason why they’re there in the first place? I can understand some being leftovers from the other Teams but the Bullet Station, Lost Jungle and Frog Forest ones seem very deliberately placed there and even have rings and enemies present
@@officialFredDurstfanclub No clue, might've been from earlier stages in development. It's possible they were supposed to be longer, but then got shortened down even more. This theory would explain why taking the higher flower in Frog Forest has bonus dialogue for example. That dialogue is where the achievement name got inspired from, as Big the Cat says the giant mushroom makes him think of a Shiitake mushroom (although the subtitles call it a Shitake mushroom, oops).
Glad you enjoyed the set for the most part, I'll definitely admit I went a little too far with that Team Dark challenge for Grand Metropolis. Sonic Heroes was my main 3D Sonic game for years, so working on the set was a dream for me. Yeah, some of those achievement names were pretty long, mainly because the ones for beating the bosses used the victory quotes from characters (like Espio's "Death to the evil one! Prepare to die, Eggman!"). 10:49 For those wondering, Diomedeidae is the scientific name for the albatross. 20:05 Yep, that blasted door left me wondering for years how to open it, or if it was just supposed to be always closed. Figured it would be a nice one to show players for the Team Sonic extra mission. 20:48 Mainly just a pun of wood and would, along with using live since it's about getting 1-ups. 30:44 Yep, that wink feels like such an unnecessary easter egg. That name was based on one of the lines Rouge says while waiting around in Seaside Hill, mainly because you can just get it immediately, and as a small hint to stop moving. 46:05 I personally found the Chaos Emerald challenges easier with only using the Power formation character, as the emerald's speed is based on your formation. And as you later found out, that small jump while boosting can be immensely helpful. Nicely done! And yes, you pronounced my name correctly
btw about the A rank requirement dont forget not dying ONCE somewhat late into the stage or in the middle because good fucking luck getting those levels back and clearing the strength sections fast
Honestly, I feel you with the insecurities, when making videos rather it’s scripting, voice acting or editing, you’re always gonna be your own critic which in some ways is good cuz it means you can see flaws and fix them, but also bad when you’re too critical and feel like you’re never gonna make a video that people will like, it’s a difficult balance to work out but for the record, I enjoyed this video, I don’t usually watch longer videos, especially not like 1 hour long videos but this kept me invested so keep doing what you’re doing
Another Sonic Heroes enjoyer, those are rare nowadays. Since I am this game's #1 fan (I have proof), I also tried to do these achievements, however I own the Sonic PC Collection version so it was more of a self-imposed challenge. Fortunately the Special Stages have better controls in the PC version which made the Special Stage achievements a bit easier (they're not perfect, but better than the GameCube version for sure). It also helps that the PC version has ridiculously short load times. I do strongly agree with the idea of an option to replay Special Stages directly from Challenge Mode though. Same goes for Super Hard Mode levels. I understand why you hate the Team Chaotix missions so much, but since I have memorised the locations of every collectable across every level, I love all of them. The uniqueness of their levels makes them more interesting to me since all the other teams have the standard level format covered. To answer your question about that 'bounce' that saved your runs in some of Team Rose's levels, that's a glitch called Last Resort Flight. If you are flying and perform a Flight Accel right as your flight gauge ends, you'll exit the flying state but you'll still get the upward burst of speed from the Flight Accel. It's also good to drop from your flight height cap slightly before performing the glitch to increase the speed you are propelled by.
18:09 I’m partially convinced that that mission is a RadicalSoda reference Seeing how those lyrics are from “Livin’ In The City” a song that is essentially his channel theme, and he was the one who started the “This isn’t _____, It’s Grand Metropolis!” Meme

This video is great and very entertaining but man I just gotta say the achievement names are so long and weird lmfao. Makes me appreciate the brevity of more typical achievement names. I do enjoy the ones that are appropriate quotes from the game though.
It took me 2 and a half minutes to realize that you’re the same guy behind Everything Wrong With Steven Universe. The whole two and a half minutes, I was wondering why that voice sounded familiar.
I watched you stream the shadow. 420 ring challenge. Raging wasn’t the word. Fair play for sticking to it. Great video 🙌🏻 Would love to see you challenge Shadow the hedgehog if it’s on retro achievements 👀
That flight glitch you sometimes experience is caused by boosting at the exact moment your flight meter runs out, causing it to reset. Also, Shadow could be a next viable one, although it's currently only for PS2 (the worst version); mercifully, all 326 endings aren't required unless you're going for the subset.
I'll suggest some games for retroachievements: pokemon Crystal, pokemon Emerald, Sonic adventure 2, super mario rpg, the donkey country trilogy, paper mario 64, mario and luigi superstar saga, pokemon snap, the legend of zelda series, luigi's mansion and pokemon colosseum
3:43 I actually killed the B button of my control on this game because of the special stages. It should be noted I'm not a controller breaker at all & I had the controller for 4 months at that point. I just mashed B so much that the button became unresponsive.
This might be the Mandela effect getting to me, but I swear on the original Xbox version, the original placement of the goal ring in Rail Canyon for Team Rose was where the second goal ring was for the GameCube version
I find it crazy that you'd find the Chaotix item collecting missions bad when all they require is knowledge of the level, something you'd gain when playing through each level three or more times. Instead to me, the stealth missions are almost never consistent as to what constitutes as alterting an enemy, leading to those being the lengthiest to complete.
At first, I thought this guy just played games to 100% but hearing that he had medical problems makes me feel really bad about myself. Hope that it gets better for you🙂
I remember that second emerald special stage is harder than all the ones after it. If you don’t get the emerald early like you did, it is hard to reach later.

Ah the nostalgia I actually have this game on my GameCube and is amazing but I didn't get 100% of it back then I was like 7 years old and I was struggling
If that little edit near the end is supposed to be indicating the game I think it is... I don't really have anything to say about its difficulty one way or the other. Unlike every other video so far, I haven't even _played_ the game in question yet. But I gotta believe you'll pull through.
