Ingredients
4 medium size zucchinis
1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
5 cloves garlic, chopped
2 green onions, sliced
2 heaping tbsp Saewoojeot, Korean salted & fermented shrimp (you can substitute to fish sauce or soy sauce)
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tbsp gochugaru, optional
2 tsp cooking oil
sesame seeds for garnish
sesame oil for garnish
It's last recipe from my mom! I meant for now! lol She's on the way to Korea right now (she lives in U.S, adjust visiting Korea), hope she has lots of fun in Korea!! It's a special knife, Korean-made knives have a special made bottom just for that! My mom's knife is like that, I still need to find one for myself.

Not genius. She could have sneezed and bent her head down and lost an eye!! Use the side of the blade to smash it. However, Asian moms are pro so all ya idiots don't try that at home.
U can just crush using side of the knife. Put flat side of the knife on the garlic and smash it sth your palm

My mom made a version of this except no syrup or fermented shrimp, used soy sauce and cubed spam lol sooooo good.
I made this tonight since my garden is cranking zucchini out. I used fish sauce since thats what I had on hand. Good stuff.

Omg, I made this and it was amazing. Better than any Toronto restaurant. I made it again and replaced zucchini with pork and its really good too. It has now become my all purpose marinade. Thank you and your mom for this.

I grow zucchini in the summer and this is a recipe I always go back to! It's salty, sweet, umami, a little spicey, and so hard to stop eating! Mama is right, a little sesame oil and hot rice and you can't stop eating! So good, make it right now!

Will be making this for dinner. Was looking for a way to finish of summer squash bought at farmers market. Thank you for adding in substitutes that could be used. Will need to go the fish sauce, red pepper flakes route. Looks delicious
I got a bag of zucchini from Costco and didn't get to cook it on our bbq over the weekend. Didn't know what to do with them then found your recipe. I used dried shrimps and fish sauce. I also used palm sugar instead of maple syrup. It's a good and simple recipe.

I just make this and it got spicy 🌶️ the only issue is that fermented shrimp cannot be bought in Sweden 🇸🇪
So I used oyster sauce instead as you recommended.
