Glad to hear the Scout 80 was out running around! Would love the follow up on the electric steering project as well!

You Know I'v been thinking about it and I think dad had the bed sprayed with a grey or brown paint with another color or two kinda spackled on it. I don't remember what it was called, they used to spray the inside of boats with it, was real tough. Grumpy.

Knowing everything you know about this project, would you do anything different? Drivetrain location and all that seemed to work out well! Thinking about doing something similar with my 63

If you didn't care about trying to make it look stock , an automatic trans and the push button trans would make it easier.

What state are you in? Back in the late 70s I built a Scout for my dad and when he sold it , It disappeared from my area and we never saw it again. I think it was a 64 and had the 4 in it , half a V8, He had it painted red, white pu top and black bedliner . Original rear bumper . He was almost blind at that time , Grants Pass southern Oregon. I am in central Mo. My dad bought this one in northern New Mexico about 25 years ago.

      @@grumpymachinist6061 it had the 4cyl 3 speed. It's a 1962

Well. It could be. 1962 sounds closer to my faded memories. Its a lot more polished than the one we had. Ours had no dents or cancer at the time and had all the gages and chrome. And northern NM is not that far away from here, plenty of time for your dad or some body else to do more to it. We had stock wheels and white Dodge van seats that were horrible. Took it into the mountains twice is all. For me to get my first deer on one trip, the seats would kill in a lot of chuck holes. I wish I had away of knowing for sure, brings back some fond memories, like my dad stepping in a pan of glop from the front axle with his house slippers and he learned not to wash the water pump in old gas. Even the gas cap looks familiar. I would bet ten bucks, but. Thank you for the memories. Grumpymachinist@@PrattsWorkshop
